Session Guide
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Resources Manila paper, pentel pen, masking tape Needed: Power Point presentation Laptop, LCD Projector Objectives: In this learning session, the participants are expected to: 1. Familiarize themselves with the appropriate use of technology in education. 2. Gain clearer understanding on the use of technology in the classrooms. 3. Understand that the DepEd’s ICT in education is anchored in the 4 pillars Overview/ DepEd recognizes that appropriate use of technology is important for the Introduction efficient and effective delivery of its mandate of providing quality education to its citizens: in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of its programs and projects; and in communicating with all stakeholders. This session will explain ICT in Educationin DepEd and the relevance of ICT literacy to teachers.
Activity: I. ACTIVITY (25 MINUTES)
Let the participants guess the word/s or phrase/s written on strips where the ideas belong in a given big idea (4 pillars). Use manila paper in posting their outputs. 1. The class will be divided into 4 groups. Distribute the strips where the description of each of the 4 pillars are written. As a group, study and brainstorm to come up with a group output. Have them tack their answers on a manila paper. 2. The group representative will report the output ( 3 minutes per group )
II. ANALYSIS ( 25 MINS )
1. How did you find the activity? Why? 2. How was your group able to prepare the output? 3. Did your group find difficulty in coming up with the group output? Why or Why not? 4. What insights did you gain from these activities?
III. ABSTRACTION (15 MINUTES)
1. Discuss the 4 Pillars and the relevance of ICT literacy to teachers, encouraging the maximization of the DCP for teaching and learning. (Power Point presentation) 2. Respond to participants’ concerns or request an expert to answer.
IV. APPLICATION (10 MINUTES)
Perform a creative presentation showing appreciation on the 4 pillars. Group 1 - Green Group 2 - Orange Group 3 – Red Group 4 – Blue
