Identify 1-3 concepts that you learned this week that stuck with you and explain why.

“True creative achievement

requires years of life
experience.”
This stuck with me because
knowledge grows over the span of a
lifetime, so in order to grasp specific
skills and concepts, one must
understand how to properly use that
knowledge first.

Creativity is usually associated

with the arts.
Art is only one form of creativity. To
me creativity is more like innovation.
What 3-4 actions can you take to advance your students' skills relative to creativity?

Consider the Person - assess

the skills, knowledge, personality,
and other traits of my students to
understand their capabilities

Quality of Product - produce

lessons/projects that lead to the
production of creative products.

Environment - offer an inviting

classroom that fosters creative
thinking/problem solving.
What Web 2.0 tools or other technology resources can support your efforts relative to advancing your students'
creativity skills?

Nearpod - multimedia tools

that are engaging

Venngage - create and

organize information

Blogging - students can

design their own website

Identify 1-3 concepts that you learned this week that stuck with you and explain why.

According to the updated Bloom’s

Taxonomy, Creativity “is considered to be
the most difficult and challenging mental
function” (pg. 43).
This really stuck with me because I find this to be the
more difficult things I teach in my classroom.
Creativity is the result of student engagement, I’m
always trying to help students think outside of the
box and be able to work through their thought
processes.

The Dynamic Balance

In order for divergent and convergent thinking to
work effectively, one must be able distinguish first
one, then the other, to obtain the best possible
outcome.
What 3-4 actions can you take to advance your students' skills relative to critical thinking?

Go for Quantity the more ideas

that are generated will eventually
lead to a “creative breakthrough”

Make Connections combine

new knowledge with previous
knowledge

Affirmative Judgement identity

the positive facets of information,
before criticizing the flaws.

Reflect allow students to reflect

on their thought process.
What Web 2.0 tools or other technology resources can support your efforts relative to advancing
your students' critical thinking skills?

Flipgrid - allows for

premeditated recorded
responses

Nearpod - students can

answers multiple forms of
questions and see multiple
responses

Padlet - allows for students to

see other solutions and
thought processes from other
students

Identify 1-3 concepts that you learned this week that stuck with you and explain why.

CPS begins with two assumptions

-Everyone is creative in some way.
-Creative skills can be learned and
enhanced.

The CPS process is a great tool for

teachers to use to reflect on their
teaching practices to ensure
they’re incorporating creativity
and problem solving.
What 3-4 actions can you take to advance your students' skills relative to collaboration?

Explore options discuss

different ways that art problems
are solved

Display and Model the different

ways that students work

Facilitate Discussions that

allow students to share ideas with
one another before beginning a
project
What Web 2.0 tools or other technology resources can support your efforts relative to students’ ability to
collaborate?

Padlet - digital collaboration

tool where students’ can write
responses

VoiceThread - digital
collaboration tools that
allows students to
communicate through video
or text
Hitch-hiking Voicethread Reflection

After reading through the Voicethread

comments, it was evident that people
thought through the solution in many
different ways. This is beneficial because it
allows everyone to collectively come up
with ideas to find the multiple solutions or
the determine the best possible solution.

Media literacy, digital citizenship, and

other 21st century communication
practices are becoming more
commonly used together to enhance
communication skills.

“Compact ideas are stickier, but

compact ideas alone aren’t valuable.
Only ideas with profound compact
are valuable. To make a profound idea
compact, you've got to pack a lot of
meaning into a little bit of messaging.
Tap into what’s already there.” pg 52

Identify 1-3 concepts that you learned this week that stuck with you and explain why.

There are key qualities that

make an idea stick
capturing the attention of the
audience/holding it, getting others to
believe in the idea, making people
care about the idea, and getting
people to act on the idea by showing
the importance
Selling the use of a technology or Web 2.0 tool.

Flipgrid
It’s an easy to use, engaging tool
that makes learning more fun for
all styles of learners. Students
create authentic video recordings
and respond to others.

It could save time in class of

having to wait on student
responses. Teachers can grade it
from anywhere.

Creativity, students are able to

design their recording to give it
personal touches. It allows them to
share their story.

Identify 1-3 concepts that you learned this week that stuck with you and explain why.

There are multiple ways to get

students to “buy in” and make
them care
1. Make them care, and support with
facts as to why
2. Power of Association
3. Self-Interest
4. Appeal to Identity

Keeping it simple helps in many

stages of SUCCES, but most
importantly, it tells you WHAT to
say. (“Made to Stick” p. 289)
SUCCES and scenarios I could use it in my professional/personal life

Professional
trying to get my students to buy
into what I’m teaching them
(simple, unexpected, credible,
emotional)
Share my experiences (stories)

Personal
giving advice to a friend of
family member (simple and
concrete)
