Characterization Tinogard TT, a sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant, is a highly effective, non
discoloring stabilizer to prevent deterioration of ingredients sensitive to oxidation,
such as perfumes, natural oils, fatty acids and the like. It protects rinse-off products
as well as leave on formulations efficiently against thermo-oxidative degradation
(e.g. rancidification and color changes).

Applications Tinogard TT can be added to the oil, perfume or organic phase of personal care
formulations. Because of its insolubility in water a sufficient amount of solubilizing
compound is needed in aqueous formulations to avoid precipitation.
The product can be used at maximum end-use concentration levels of 0.3% for
leave-on and 0.5% for rinse-off applications.

Features / benefits Tinogard TT is non-discoloring, odorless, tasteless and of low volatility.

The product can be used in combination with other phenolic or non-phenolic
antioxidants (e.g. tocopherols).
In general its effectiveness is enhanced by using in combination with chelating
agents (e.g. EDTA, NTA, citric acid, phosphoric acid, ascorbic acid, ascorbyl
palmitate, lecithin).
Moreover, product protection against photo-deterioration is enhanced by using
antioxidants in combination with UV-absorbers.

Guidelines for use 50 – 500 ppm of Tinogard TT typically provides long-term stability to home and
personal care formulations.
In bar soaps the concentration levels for Tinogard TT generally range between
0.01% and 0.05%. Optimal incorporation levels depend on formulation, processing
conditions and long-term stability requirements. Therefore, optimum levels have
to be determined specifically for the envisaged applications.
Homogeneous incorporation of Tinogard TT is achieved by incorporation via the
oil orperfume phase of the formulation.
The product can be used at maximum end-use concentration levels of 0.3% for
leave-on and 0.5% for rinse-off applications.
