Understanding the 10 Legal Duties

Scenario 1-

The coach hears a rumor that some of the veterans are going to welcome the rookies to
the team. The coach trusts the veterans and plays along with the team initiation. Later
that night, the coach receives phone calls from three different parents stating that their
sons were physically and psychologically abused by the veterans.

though she has never done this dive before. She attempts the dive, hits the board and
injures her shoulder.

Scenario 3-

country practice on Thursday and is still a little pale and fatigued. The team is
scheduled for a three-mile run that day, so the coach sends Jenny out with the team. At
the one mile mark, Jenny passes out and hits the pavement face first, breaking her
nose.

Scenario 4-

Scenario 5-

bullpen session, Mike is struck in the face mask by a pitch in the dirt. The ball breaks
through the mask and hits Mike int he right eye, causing sever damage.

field fence to practice this new skill. The coach stays on the field to work with the
infielders on fielding short hop grounders. In the batting cage, Marcie attempts to drag
bunt but fouled the ball off -right into the eye of one of her teammate who is in the wrong
position to shag balls.

with a double compound fracture of his left leg.

Scenario 8-

Scenario 9-

Because of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the school administration and AD
determine that Billy, a student in the special education program , is permitted to play on
the football team. The coach decides to have Billy (who weighs 125 pounds) practice
one on one tackling drill with the starting middle linebacker (who weighs 225 pounds) to
teach Billy how to tackle properly. The linebackers tackles Billy and drives into the
ground, breaking several ribs and puncturing both lungs.

practice, he complains about a stomachache. The coach decides that Bob needs to
learn how to "suck it up" and tells him to continue practicing. That night, Bob's parents
call the coach to inform him that Bob is in surgery with a ruptured appendix.
