No wonders! Education is quite essential for the well-being of a

person. Education is not only all about providing knowledge to the
people, but it could also help them to grow professionally and
personally as the old philosopher said, "Education breeds
confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace." I
mean to say; education helps one's self to find out his right

These are the words President Obama used to begin

his global warming speech before the United
Nations Summit in 2009.
The subject has certainly drawn a lot of attention. But
just what is global warming? What is causing it? What
effects does it have on the earth and its inhabitants?
What are some possible solutions? These are the
questions that I will be addressing in this short,
informative speech today.

What is Global Warming?

Global warming is the gradual increase of the
temperature of earth's atmosphere and oceans.

Over the past century the average temperatures have

gone up by just over one degree. This may not seem
like much, but many scientists agree that the earth's
temperatures are starting to increase at a faster rate.

What Causes It?

Greenhouse Gases as a Cause of Global Warming

Global warming occurs when greenhouse gases,

such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane
trap heat inside the earth's atmosphere.

Think about what happens when you open your car

door after the windows have been rolled up on a hot
day. Heat from the sun enters the car, but the frame
of the car prevents it from escaping.

To a small extent, this is a representation of what

happens during global warming. Burning fossil fuels
like petroleum and deforestation both contribute to the
problem.

What Effects does Climate Change

Have on the Earth and its
Inhabitants?
Global warming has already started to affect the earth
in several ways.

Arctic glaciers have begun to melt, threatening

indigenous life such as the polar bears. Melting
glaciers also cause sea levels to rise. This could
become a problem for low land areas like the ones in
the South Sea Islands.

Ocean temperatures have begun to rise. This causes

some of the algae to die which can affect the entire
food chain.

What are some Possible Solutions

to the Problem?
There are ways we can combat the effects of global
warming. The Clean Air Act of 1990 is a law in the
United States that attempts to protect and improve the
earth's air and atmosphere.

Some of the components of this law include limiting

harmful vehicle emissions and phasing out the use of

chemicals that can damage the ozone layer.

On a more personal level, we can work to prevent

global warming by planting trees.

Climate change is seen as a serious threat that is

receiving serious attention world-wide. Hopefully,

Good morning to one and all.

You all aware the situation of water crisis that chennai facing these
days. I am sure you all are aware about the situation as even our lives
have not remained untouched about this issue. For instance, due to
the shortage of water, sometimes we had to wake up for the whole
night and still the motor couldn’t fetch water to fill the tanks because of
which we had to call for the tankers.

This not only causes a great inconvenience to all, but also increases
expenses. So I request all to utilize water with extreme care and never
let its even single drop go waste. This is not an individual problem, but
a matter of concern for all of us. Therefore We all do our contribution
at this time.

Now, the question that arises is how to deal with such problem. The
most pertinent step that can be taken towards finding solutions to the

situation of water crisis as well as environment preservation is to

change the attitude and habits of people, which applies to all of us.
Save water in order to avoid extreme circumstances. Here, I would like
to share with you a few simple things which can be done to ensure
preservation of water:

1.Try to look for ways everyday with which you can save water. There is
no reason to worry if you happen to save only a minimal amount as
every single drop matters a lot. This way you can slowly and gradually
make a big difference.

2.Ensure that you only use the required amount.

3.In fact, we can form groups of such people who are water-conscious
and provide encouragement to our neighbors and friends to become a
part of it. Let’s also start promoting water conservation in our permises
through bulletin boards and newsletters. We should encourage people
around and even our co-workers to also make their contribution
towards it.

4.Encourage everyone in your family to look for innovative ways of

preserving water both inside and outside of their homes.

5.Please ensure that there is no leakage of water pipes at your home. If

the leakage is there, then get the problem fixed immediately.

6.While brushing your teeth or rubbing your face with soap, turn off the
tap.

7.Do not flush the toilet unnecessarily.

8.If you want to wash your car, use a bucket of water.

9.Never throw water which has been used for washing fruits,
