Dissertation Title: Formulate a better strategy for the success of Skill India Project

Skill India is the new buzz word across India. India has witnessed the high population growth in last
60 years. India has the largest number of youth. The human resource is an asset if utilized in right
direction. The whole country is talking demographic dividend. All developed countries will be
shortage of manpower. Can India supply the manpower requirement of the globe? May India solve
the problem of unemployment? This basic question has been the reason for the Skill India initiative.

There is requirement of skilled manpower in organized and unorganized sector across globe. The
technology has changed the type of skill requirement for the workers at all level. So there has been
paradigm shift in the skill and education requirement. There is always a close discussion between
education and skill. Both are interlinked at minimum level. Basic quality education is the base to
learn skill.

The government has imparted skill development training to the entire population many times in last
15 years but the result is not satisfactory. The major reason is the private and unorganized sector is
not willing to share their margin with the workers. The majority working population is involved in
labor work. The employer and worker have no value proposition of the Skill Development Training.
The automation has taken many jobs where large number of manpower was working. The
manufacturing sector was having highest number of workforce which is in a very bad position in
India. China is supplying everything. China has been able to produce low cost products. China has
implemented the Skill Development Training many decades ago. So they have been successful to
create their country as manufacturing hub of the globe. They are imparting a high quality basic
education. They pay difference is low among the different work profile.

India has not been able to lean form China. The Skill India initiative has been taken but there is no
extensive research work done. Billions of money of public has been misused in the name of Skill
India initiative. The present reports / survey available are not realistic. The strategy has not been
formulated by any top level management professional. It requires a detailed research to formulate
the better strategy and implementation plan. The basic issues mentioned below.
