ERRATA as of December 11, 2018
ACI 318M-14
Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary
(Metric Version)
1st printing
Reported by ACI Committee 318

7.7.2.3, page 88, revised as:
For nonprestressed slabs, Mmaximum spacing s of deformed reinforcement shall be the lesser of
3h and 450 mm.

9.7.3.8.3, page 143, revise as:

At simple supports and points of inflection, db for positive moment tension reinforcement shall be
limited such that ℓd for that reinforcement…

17.2.3.4.3(d), p. 224, revise as:

(d) The anchor or group of anchors shall be designed for the maximum tension obtained from
design load combinations that include E, with the horizontal component of E increased by Ωo.
The anchor design tensile strength shall satisfy the shear strength requirements of 17.3.1.1.

17.2.3.5.3(c), p. 227, revise as:

(c) The anchor or group of anchors shall be designed for the maximum shear obtained from
design load combinations that include E, with the horizontal component of E increased by Ωo.
The anchor design shear strength shall satisfy the shear strength requirements of 17.3.1.1.

17.4.2.2, p. 236, revised as:

The basic concrete breakout strength of a single anchor in tension in cracked concrete, Nb, shall
not exceed

Nb = kc λa f c hef 1.5 (17.4.2.2a)

where kc = 2410 for cast-in anchors and 17 for post-installed anchors.

The value of kc for post-installed anchors shall be permitted to be increased above 17

based on ACI 355.2 or ACI 355.4 product-specific tests, but shall not exceed 2410.

17.4.2.6, page 239, revised as:

For anchors located in a region of a concrete member where analysis indicates no cracking at
service load levels, the following modification factor shall be permitted:

(a) ψc,N = 1.25 for cast-in anchors

(b) ψc,N = 1.4 for post-installed anchors, where the value of kc used in Eq. (17.4.2.2a) is 17
R17.4.2.6, page 239, second paragraph, revised as:
The concrete breakout strengths given by Eq. (17.4.2.2a) and (17.4.2.2b) assume cracked
concrete (that is, ψc,N = 1.0) with ψc,N kc = 2410 for cast-in, and 17 for post-installed. When the
uncracked concrete ψc,N factors are applied (1.25 for cast-in, and 1.4 for post-installed), the
results are ψc,N kc factors of 3012.5 for cast-in and 2410 for post-installed. This agrees with field
observations and tests that show cast-in anchor strength exceeds that of post-installed for both
cracked and uncracked concrete.

17.5.3.1, page 258, In the last sentence of 17.5.3.1, revise as:

In Eq. (17.5.3.1a) and (17.5.3.1b), kcp = 1.0 for hef < 2.5 mm 65 mm; and kcp = 2.0 for hef > 2.5
mm 65 mm.

18.10.6.2, page 295, revise as:

Walls or wall piers with hw/ℓw ≥ 2.0 that are effectively continuous from the base of structure to
top of wall and are designed to have a single critical section for flexure and axial loads shall
satisfy (a) and (b), or shall be designed by 18.10.6.3

22.5.1.2, page 352, Eq. (22.5.1.2), revise as:

Vu  (Vc  . 0.66 f cbw d )

22.8.3.2, page 378, Table 22.8.3.2: Ag should be A1 at the end of Eq. (22.8.3.2(a)).
