INSTALLATION AND USE

OF THE TECNOMA SPARE PARTS CD-ROM
In order to read this CDrom, it is essential that you own a personal computer (PC) which is
equipped with :
- A CD-ROM drive.
- Windows 95, 98, Millennium, 2000, or XP.
- Acrobat Reader 4.05 (supplied with the CD-ROM) other versions.

1 - INSTALLATION :
1.1 - Direct reading from the CDrom via the CD-ROM drive of the PC
Place the CD-ROM in the drive.
A message appears : click "OK".
This brings up a menu :
- Installing ACROBAT READER 4.0 other versions : see below.
- Installing special FONTS : see below.
- SPARE PARTS Catalogue : click once to open the first page of the catalogue (but you must
first have Acrobat Reader installed).
- READ-ME : a single click opens this set of instructions (but you must first have Acrobat
Reader installed).
- EXIT : a single click returns you to the computer desktop.

1.11- Installing the Acrobat reader 4.0 file-viewing application other

versions:
(this si not necessary if you already installed it with the first CD in 2001).
This application is essential in order to display the various views from the CD.
Procedure :
• Click "Installing ACROBAT READER 4.0" other versions.
• Installation takes place automatically (follow the instructions on the screen).
• An Acrobat Reader icon is installed automatically on the desktop.

1.12 - Installing the special CD character fonts :

(This si not necessary if you already installed them with the first CD in 2001).
These fonts enable you to display all of the various views on the CD as they were
intended to appear.
Procedure :
• Click "Installing special FONTS".
• The "Fonts" folder opens.
• Click "File"
• Click "Install new font".
• In the «Drives» window, select the CD-ROM drive.
• Double-click the «Fonts» icon : the fonts to be installed then appear in the «Font list» window.
• Click "Select all", and then "OK".

1.2 - Installation of the CD-ROM on the hard disk of the PC

Place the CD in the drive.
A message then appears : click "OK".
This brings up a menu :
- Installing ACROBAT READER 4.0 : see paragraph 1.11, page 1.
- Installing special FONTS : see paragraph 1.12, page 1.
- Click «EXIT» to return to the computer desktop.
Create a folder on your hard disk, and call it «Tecnoma PR» for example (see method at paragraph 1.21
below).
Copy all the contents of the CD-ROM into the «Tecnoma PR» folder (see method at paragraphe 1.22
below).
Using Windows Explorer, create a shortcut to the «Catalog PR» file in the newly-created «Tecnoma
PR» folder, and re-name it as you wish (see method at paragraph 1.23 below).
Click your newly-created icon : the general presentation page of the Tecnoma spare parts catalogue then
appears.
Remove the CD-ROM from the drive.

1.21 - How to create a folder on the hard disk of the computer :

- Open Windows Explorer.
- Click the «My Computer» icon.
- Click the icon of the hard drive in which you wish to create the folder which will receive the
contents of the CD-ROM (C, D or E : for example).
- Click «File» (at top), and then «New», and then «Folder» :
a new folder is then created with the name «New folder».
- Use the mouse to select «New folder», and type in the name «Tecnoma PR» (or whatever
name you chose for it).
- Click the new folder (now called «Tecnoma PR») : it opens completely empty and ready to
receive the complete contents of the Tecnoma CD-ROM.

1.22 - How to copy to entire contents of the Tecnoma CD-ROM to the hard disk of the PC :
- Open Windows explorer.
- Click the «My computer» icon.
- With the right mouse button, click the icon of the CD-ROM drive : this opens on the
Tecnoma CD-ROM.
- Click «Edit» (at top).
- Click «Select all».
- Click «Copy».
- Click « Back» several times to take you back to «My computer».
- Click the icon of the disk containing the «Tecnoma PR» folder.
- Click the «Tecnoma PR» folder to open it.
- Click «Edit» (at top), and then «Paste».
Now wait until the computer has copied all of the files from the Tecnoma CD-ROM : this will take
several minutes, depending on the power of your computer.

1.23 - How to create a shortcut:

On the desktop :
- Click, with the right mouse button, at any point other than on an icon :
this calls up a drop-down menu.

 - With the left mouse button, click New : another menu appears. 3/6
- Click «Shorcut» : this brings up a window.
- Click «Browse» and select the hard disk containing the «Tecnoma PR» folder.
- Click the «Tecnoma PR» folder to open it.
- Click the «Catalog PR» file.
- Click «Open» : return to the «Create Shorcut» menu : click «Next».
- This brings up the menu entitled «Selection of a title for the program» : click «Finish».
- Return to the desktop : a new icon has been created, called «Catalog PR» : this is the
shortcut which can be used to go, with a single click, directly to the general presentation
page of the Tecnoma spare parts catalogue.
To change the name of the shortcut (if required) :
- With the right mouse button, click the name of the icon (Catalog PR) : a dropdown menu
appears : click «Rename».
- Type in the nex name : «Tecnoma PR» (for example).
- Validate with a click anywhere on the screen other than on an icon.

1.3 - Installation of «Search Index»

These index are used to carry out searches throughout the whole of the Tecnoma spare parts
catalogue, using :
- a code
- a name.
- a page number or by pagination.
Installation :
From the presentation page of the Tecnoma spare parts catalogue :
- Click the icon located on the top tool bar : a menu appears entitled : «Search in several
documents».
- Click «Index» (on right) : the menu «Select an index» appears.
- Click «Add» (at bottom) : another menu entitled «Add an index», appears.
- Click until you reach :
. the Tecnoma CD-ROM.
. the «Tecnoma PR» folder if you have created it on the hard disk.
- With the CD-ROM or the hard disk folder open :
- Click the first index «General» and then «Open».
- Return to the «Select an index» menu : «General» is now placed in the available index.
- Repeat this procedure for the second index :
- Click «Add» (at bottom), then «Standard» index, and then «Open».
- Return to the «Select an index» menu : «Standard» is now placed in the available index.
- Click «OK» : return to the «Search in several documents» menu.
- The two index are now installed, and searching can commence...
Comment :
«General» is used to effect a search throughout the whole of the Tecnoma spare parts
catalogue, on condition that it is checked :
«Standard» is used to perform a search among the standard Tecnoma spare parts and
devices only, on condition that it is checked : and that «General» is inchecked (by just
clicking on the check mark).

USING the Tecnoma spare parts CD-rom :
From CD-rom :
• Place the CD in the CD-rom drive of the computer.
• A message appears : click "OK".
• A menu appears : click on "SPARE PARTS Catalogue" and the front page of the spare parts
catalogue is opened in «Acrobat Reader» program :
From the hard disk of the PC :
• Click the shortcut icon on the desktop (see how create a shortcut page 4, paragraph 1.23) : the
general presentation page of the Tecnoma spare parts catalogue then appears.
ICON EXPLANATIONS :
- Upper tools bar :
: opens a PDF file.
: prints.
: allows the page to be moved round the screen and subsequent pages to be opened.
: zoom.
: goes back to the last page opened.
: goes forward to the next page.
: displays the page so that the height and width are the same.
: displays the whole page.
: displays the page at full width.
: rotates the page left.
: rotates the page right.
: search in opened page.
: search in all pages of catalogue.
: result of search.
: goes back to last search (page).

: goes back to next search (page).

- Lower tools bar :

125% : page sizes.
2 on 4 : navigation in pages.

• 4 MAIN CATEGORIES represented by rectangles (with green borders) offer top-down

searches :
- by range : - LOW CROPS
- TREES and VINES
- by STANDARD PARTS.
- by additional TECHNICAL DATA SHEETS.
• A simple click on one of the four rectangles using the icon : this changes to once the zone
becomes clickable, allowing the next page to be opened.

• Subsequent pages contain interactive buttons or allowing the search to be continued

down to the spare parts page.
• The spare parts page may contain :
: link to supplementary details page.
: link to additional technical information (information).
: link to additional technical information (selective application).
: link to additional technical information (immediate and systematic application).
• You may search for Technical data sheets :
- By number (in ascending order) : listed in French and English.
Technical data sheet numbers appear in rectangles of the following colours :
French:
- blue up to No. 427 (except No. 341 and No. 352)
- yellow (information), blue (selective application), red (immediate and systematic
application) from No.428 (+ No. 341 and No. 352).
English : orange
- By sprayers - parts : menu pages offer easy searching ; they may contain :
: link to a submenu page.
