Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU) Ukraine is one of the oldest higher
educational establishments of Ukraine. Founded in 1805 as the Medical Faculty of
the Kharkiv University it was later renamed in Kharkiv Medical Institute and Kharkiv
State Medical University and presently it is Kharkiv National Medical University -
KNMU.Since 1951 the University has been training doctors for different countries
of Europe, Asia, Africa. Presently more 4600 foreign citizens study at KNMU.

KHARKIV CITY
Kharkiv is the second-largest city in Ukraine.[7] In the northeast of the country, it is
the largest city of the Slobozhanshchyna historical region. Presently, Kharkiv is a
major cultural, scientific, educational, transport and industrial centre of Ukraine,
with numerous museums, theatres and libraries. Kharkiv was the first capital of the
Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, from December 1919 to January 1934.

V.N. KARAZIN NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest universities in Eastern
Europe. It was founded in November 1804, on the initiative of the prominent
educator V.N. Karazin and in accordance with the charter of Tsar Alexander I. Since
its foundation, the University has graduated over 130,000 students. In the “Top-
200 Ukraine” rating conducted by the UNESCO Chair for 2016 Kharkiv University
ranks third among all Ukrainian Higher Educational Institutions.

POLTAVA STATE MEDICAL AND DENTAL UNIVERSITY


Poltava, Ukraine

This Academy started in 1921 with dental faculty of Kharkiv Medical Academy. In
1967, the Institute moved to the town of Poltava and renamed as the Poltava State
National Medical University. Currently 3615 students, 1400 of them – foreigners
from forty-two countries are enrolled there. PSMU trains specialists in six faculties
and a preparatory department. Specialists are trained in toxicology, pediatrics (six
years each), oral surgery, pharmacology (five years each), nursing (two to three
years) and orthopedic dentistry (two years).

POLTAVA CITY
Poltava is a city located on the Vorskla River in central Ukraine. It is the capital city
of the Poltava Oblast. Poltava has a humid continental climate. Poltava's
transportation infrastructure consists of two major train stations with railway links
to Kiev, Kharkiv, and Kremenchuk. Poltava's Kiev line is electrified.
