7. Number of Hours: 6 hours a week (2 laboratory)
8. Course Goal: For the students to develop skills in manual drafting and in computer-aided design

B. Rationale
Every engineering creation around us—such as roads, bridges buildings, cars, mobile phones, computers,
etc.—started with the creation of designs, plans, and models requiring knowledge of engineering graphics. Hence,
engineering graphics will provide essentials skills applicable throughout every engineer’s professional career.
Engineering Graphics Laboratory is the integrated course of different drafting principles and techniques,
and computer-aided design. This course will expose the students to the various possible drafting work required in
different fields of engineering, and therefore develop stronger, more complete foundation of knowledge
in preparing engineering drawings and designs.
This is a required course for all engineering students.

C. Course Outline
1. Course Outcomes
After completing the course, the student must be able to:
a. Apply different techniques of graphic representation;
b. Construct complete drafting work; and
c. Design solid models using CAD.

5. Life-long Learning Opportunities

Drafting and computer-aided design are ubiquitous tools in, but not limited to, the engineering profession.
The ability to graphically and accurately represent objects becomes an invaluable skill.

6. Course Evaluation
A. Student performance will be rated based on the following:
Course Outcomes Assessment Tasks Minimum Average for Satisfactory Performance
a Quizzes, Exercises, Examinations 60%
b Quizzes, Exercises, Examinations 60%
c Group Project Output 60%
*At least 80% of the students must get 60% rating in the assessment tasks in order for the course outcome to be considered satisfied
B. Grading system:
Assessment Tasks Weight
Quizzes 10%
Exercises 30%
Examinations 45%
Group Project Output 15%
100%
C. Questions regarding exam results will be entertained only within one week following the return
of the papers in the class. Within the same period, other unclaimed papers shall be at the ES
Department.
D. A student with a pre-final standing of at least 60% (3.00) provided that he/she submitted the
REQUIRED PROJECT, shall have his/her pre-final standing as his/her final grade.
Otherwise, if the student’s pre-final standing is 60% (3.00) but did not submit the REQUIRED
PROJECT, he/she will be given a grade of INC in the course.
E. If the student fails to get a pre-final standing of 60% provided that it is not below 55% and
he/she submitted a project, the student shall be required to take the final exam, after which
he/she shall receive a mark of either ―3.00‖ or ―5.00‖ only. However, failure to submit the
project will automatically mean a grade of ―5.00‖ in the course.

F. The final grades will correspond to the weighted average scores shown below:
Final Grade Range
1.00 96 - 100
1.25 91 - 95.9
1.50 87 - 90.9
1.75 82 - 86.9
2.00 78 - 81.9
2.25 73 - 77.9
2.50 69 - 72.9
2.75 64 - 68.9
3.00 60 - 63.9
5.00 Below 55

CQI Remarks: At least 80% of the students must pass the assessment task; otherwise, that
particular assessment task must be reviewed.

7. Other Course Policies

A. Attendance
1. University rules on attendance shall be strictly followed.
2. Any student who, for unavoidable causes, absents himself from the class must obtain an
excuse slip from the College Secretary’s Office. The approved excuse slip must be
presented to the instructor(s) concerned not later than the second session following the
student’s return.
3. Excuses are for time missed only. All work covered by the class during the absence shall
be made up to the satisfaction of the instructor within a reasonable time from the date of
absence. There shall be no make-up for quizzes.
4. When the number of hours lost by the absence of the student reaches 20% of the class
hours, he/she shall be automatically dropped by the instructor from the subject. If the
majority of the absences are not excused, he/she shall be given a grade of “5.00”.
5. A student is expected to arrive in class within 30 minutes from the start of the class.
After the 30-minute period has elapsed, the student will be marked absent. He/She will
be allowed to take the exercises; however, he/she will not get any points from it.
B. There shall be announced and unannounced quizzes of undetermined number. Not one quiz
shall be considered void.
C. Exercises
1. All exercises shall be done in class. Not one shall be considered void.
2. All exercise plates shall be done individually and borrowing of instruments in the
class is not allowed. Anyone caught discussing and borrowing materials shall get a score
of zero for the exercise.
D. Long Examinations
1. There shall be at least six (6) departmental long examinations, 2 theoretical and 4
practical types, of equal weight. Not one examination shall be considered void.
2. There shall be no take-home exams.
3. A student who misses an exam should present a valid excuse slip to the faculty
concerned not later than the second class session following the student’s return in
order to take the make-up exam. Failure to do so would mean a grade of zero for the
missed exam.
4. Questions regarding examination results will be entertained only within three (3)
working days after release of results.

E. A solid modeling project shall be submitted at the end of the semester.

F. Cheating
1. University policy on cheating shall be strictly imposed. Cheating in any form shall be
penalized with a grade of “5.00” in the course and shall be subjected to disciplinary
action under the Student Rules and Regulations on Conduct and Discipline as approved
by the Board of Regents.
2. Copying of exercise plates is strictly prohibited (i.e. photocopying, taking pictures
etc.). Anyone caught will be given a grade of “5.00” in the course.
G. Examination Protocol
1. Students who are late for more than 30 minutes from the time the exam is scheduled to
start will no longer be given an exam. The students’ score in the exam will be zero.
2. Students must wear their ID during exam.
3. Students must wear appropriate and decent attire. Wearing of caps is not allowed.
4. In examinations requiring use of calculators, only board exam – allowed calculators may
be used. For the official list, please visit this link: http://www.prc.gov.ph/page.aspx?id=3.
5. Only ENSC papers submitted at the start of the semester may be used in the exams.
6. The first page of the answer sheet (ENSC paper) must be left blank, but data such as the
Name, Student No., Subject, Section, Date and Exam No. must be clearly indicated at the
appropriate blanks. The ENSC paper must not be folded nor its sheets detached. No
additional ENSC sheets will be provided. Solutions may be written at the back pages with
notice written on the first page which back-page solutions will be considered for
checking. A deduction of at least 20 points will be given as penalty for non-compliance.
7. Questionnaires, with data blanks completely filled-up, must be submitted together with
the answer sheets. The questionnaire must be inserted under the first page of the answer
sheets when submitting. Lost questionnaire means a grade of zero in the exam.
8. Students are not allowed to leave their seats for the entire duration of the exam. Students
who do so, for whatever reason, will have to submit the questionnaire and answer sheet to
the examiner, but will be required to remain in the examination venue until the exam
administration is over.
9. Computer gadgets (e.g. cellphones, iPhones, mp3 players, tablets, etc.) must be turned
off, placed in a bag, and deposited at a designated area. Wearing of headsets or earphones
is not allowed.
10. Students must restrict their field of vision within the borders of their answer sheet.
Students who wander their gaze will be warned, forced to transfer to another seat, or
