1 GENERAL

1.1 Objective
The objective of this procedure is to describe the necessary activities that need to be
performed during the commissioning period, ensuring that all equipment part of the package
functions as expected.

1.2 Prior to start of commissioning


The following must be performed before start of any of the commissioning tests described
in this document:

Installation must be completed


No outstanding punches on the equipment
Bulk / instrument air systems tested and available.
All necessary “permits to work” must be acquired.

The procedures and systems already established for the project activities shall be
adhered to during the commissioning activities.

Prior to starting any activities that involve energizing, starting up and running equipment
or pressurizing systems, the applicable Livening-Up Notices and Work Permit
Procedures, shall be adhered to.

2 CAUSTIC MIXER UNIT

2.1 General description


The caustic mixer unit consist off 1 air driven pump. By means of a hand
operated valve the pump can be use to mix the chemicals & to feed the mixing
lines. The pump speed is adjusted with needle valve that regulates the airflow to
the pump.

2.2 Preparations
• A selection of caustic chemical sacks must be available. If operations do not allow
mixing of caustic chemicals the test could be performed with use of water.
• Circulation thru applicable mix line must be initiated before start of test.

2.3 Testing sequence

Comments
1 Visual inspection.
Verify correct air inlet pressure: 6 bar (87 PSI).
Adjust if necessary on the plants filter regulator.

2 Pump stroke
Close needle valve. Line up 3-way valve for mixing.
Fill the tank with water.
Open needle valve slowly, and verify pump speed
will increase.

3 Flow rate
Line up 3-way valve to feed mixing line.
Fully open the needle valve. Check that the rate is
satisfactory.

2.4 Customer acceptance


Acceptance criteria:
Control functions OK (signed out table above)
