Dear Parent/Guardian and OPFI Student:

On behalf of the Oak Park High School Freshman Institute, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and
heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2019-2020 school year at OPFI. To those students and parents
who are new to Oak Park Schools we extend a warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive
year in our new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our
school.

School begins on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 and this is a full day of school 8:00am – 2:53pm.
Breakfast will be available in the cafeteria from 7:30am – 7:50am. For safety reasons, students SHOULD
NOT be dropped off or arrive at school any earlier than 7:30am. All students must be off school grounds 20
minutes after dismissal unless they are participating in an extra-curricular activity.

It is expected that all students follow the Oak Park School District Dress Code every day. All shirts or
blouses must be black, white, or red and pants must be black or khaki. Shorts or skirts must be at the knee
and sandals are not allowed. Leggings, jeggings, and jogging/yoga pants are not permitted at any time. Oak
Park Spirit Wear may be worn on Fridays.

The Student/Parent Orientation will be held on August 19, 2019 at 12:00pm in the OPFI gymnasium.
During this time we will review student expectations, dress code, graduation requirements, and much more.
Please plan to be in attendance the entire time as we will also be filling out paperwork and finalizing
schedules. You can also purchase your OPFI Spirit Day shirt at orientation - the cost is $10.00.

Picture Day September 6, 2019
Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences October 7, 2019 (4:00pm-8:00pm)
Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences March 9, 2020 (4:00pm-8:00pm)

We are looking forward to beginning the year on a positive note. With our outstanding staff, we will continue
with the Oak Park Schools tradition of educational excellence this year.
