Application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) in Manufacturing Industry in a Developing

Country

Application of statistical process control, is an aid that companies nowadays find very useful to
reduce their percentage of defective products that results after an online manufacturing. Many
points can be observed in which they are causes of a defective final product, as it can be the
machines that are used for the manufacture of these. A manufacturing company in Zimbabwe
was used to implement this statistical control, maintaining basic concepts studied before
implementing the application, such as the construction of the flow diagrams where it studied
the steps that had to be taken to carry out this study, identifying the variable points of the
process of the manufacturer. He also advises using PARETO as the first option to define the
problem by finding possible causes. You can also use control videos for maintenance or
personnel conditions, when these are not appropriate, is where the study finds this and tries to
mitigate it to have an adequate final product.

According to this, it was carried out in the aforementioned manufacturing company, where the
most arduous information was gathered to carry out this study and make the necessary
decisions, also conducting surveys of the population close to this manufacturer.

In final conditions, the company did not have enough help from the company, in the economic
part, perhaps due to the economic situation in which they were studying at that moment, also
due to the lack of high-level assistance in this study, but even so, it was carried out as accurately
as possible through the verification sheets and the flow diagrams. It was advised to change
several points and to use, along with the sheets and diagrams, the experiment design tool (DOE)
since it is one of the most advanced techniques to analyze the beginning of the process, but in
the example shown, it was the least used and finally also use higher and lower control points to
control these errors and make decisions about them.

If an organization operates in a third world economy and needs to compete on a global scale,
the adoption of Statistical Process Control is a necessity. When the Control is used correctly, it
allows the manufacturer to prevent problems, control their production processes and increase
the benefits and customer satisfaction.
