Upload food
Download Karma Retailer on App Store, Google
Play Store or go to www.dashboard.karma.life

Sign in with your business’ credentials,


either provided by Karma or chosen at
self-sign up.

Tap Sale in the menu header, and then


Create new item.

Lunch leftovers? Unsold meals easily


become dinner for a Karma user.

Upload food

Tap Add picture to take a new photo of


your food item or select an existing photo
from your phone’s library.

Complete the required empty fields:


✓ Title of item ✓ Original price
✓ Category ✓ Discount in %

Choose applicable allergens or select


No Allergens. This step is essential to
ensure the user’s safety.

Include information such as when the


item was prepared or the expiry date.

Complete the upload by tapping


Save in the top right corner.

Providing a detailed description of your food increases a


user’s willingness to purchase. It’s considerate to mention
if the item is vegan, vegeterian, or contains dairy/gluten.

Upload food

Uploaded food items will permanently


exist in your archive under Sale.

You can edit the item details at any time


by tapping the dropdown arrow icon and
selecting Edit item.

Uploading a photo of your food makes it more likely to sell.

Start a sale
Download Karma Retailer on App Store, Google
Play Store or go to www.dashboard.karma.life

Sign in with your business’ credentials,


either provided by Karma or chosen at
self-sign up.

Edit the food item quantity in your


archive by tapping the plus or minus
button, then Save changes.

Start a sale

Activate your sale by tapping Yes on


the top banner.

Don’t forget this step! It ensures that Karma users


can view and purchase your surplus food.

Start a sale

Verify your sales times and food items.


If they appear correct, tap Done to start
the sale. Your surplus food will appear on
the app as available for purchase.

You may continue to edit the quantity of


portions after the sale has started.

It is not possible to change the last pick


up time after it’s been set, so please be
mindful when choosing your times.

Extending your sale times gives users more time to reach


your location and can increase your sell out ratio.

Hand out food

Karma users present their active


order upon arrival at your location.
Hand out the food as take away and
ask the user to tap Confirm pick-up
on their device.

The order status will appear as


Picked up in the Payments tab
of the Karma Retailer app.

If the user forgets to change the


order status after pick up, simply
confirm it yourself under Payments.

All payments are made through the app, making it possible


to fulfill your closing duties, like cashing out the register,
before the last pick up time.

Troubleshooting
Refunds
If you encounter a problem or need to make a refund, please contact us.
We handle refunds, which take approximately 4-6 business days.

Reset password
Visit the Dashboard or app sign in page and select Forgot your password?
We send a password reset to the email address used for initial sign up.

Browser default
Karma does not support Internet Explorer for security reasons. Please try
a different browser such as Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari.

Missing item
If for whatever reason you cannot provide the item you sold through the app,
please compensate the customer with an item of similar value.

Best practices
Setting sales times
You dictate the time frame in which users can buy and collect surplus food,
keeping in mind that longer time frames increase the likelihood of food selling.

Payment
Karma manages all payments made through the app. At the beginning of every
month, we generate a sales report summarizing the food items your business sold
through Karma, followed by a payout on the 20th day of the month. If you have
any questions regarding payments please contact payments@karma.life.

Pick up
Karma users present their active order upon arrival at your business’ location.

Food safety
Food is not required to be warm upon pick up so please feel free to refrigerate
your surplus items to ensure optimal freshness. Quality is as important for us as
it is for you; be mindful of the condition of your food.

Customer support
We handle all customer support inquiries regarding the app. Please ask users
to contact us directly through chat messenger on the Karma website should
questions or concerns arise.

Overproduction
At Karma, our aim is to reduce food waste. Please do not overproduce food
with the intention of selling it in the app.

Marketing
Followers & push notifications
Karma users follow their favourite locations in the app and have the option to
enable push notifications, alerting them when their preferred places have food
available to rescue.

Marketing kit
Promote your sustainability goals and collaboration with Karma using the digital
and physical marketing materials provided. Posting via your social media channels
is an effective way to gain more followers in the app and having a strong following
means greater exposure for your business, plus an increased likelihood of selling
your food. If you require additional or custom marketing material, contact us!

Social recognition
Using Karma, you have the opportunity to lead the shift towards a more
sustainable society and enhance your reputation in your community as
a food waste fighter. The zero waste vision starts with you!
