Introduction
This Special Instruction outlines the necessary procedures to install the 482-5132 Water Tank and Mounting Kit
for the D-Series Compact Track Loaders, Multi-Terrain Loaders, and Skid Steer Loaders.
Do Not perform any procedure or order any parts until having read and understood the material contained within
this publication.

Preparing the Machine

1. Move the machine to a smooth level area.
2. Turn the machine to "OFF" and set the parking brake.
3. Perform Lock out/ Tag out procedures to the operator controls of the machine.

BULK HOSE (122-6879) MENTIONED IN THIS PARTS LIST MUST BE PROCURED SEPARATELY FROM THE DEALER
DEPENDING UPON THE MACHINE ON WHICH THIS KIT IS BEING INSTALLED. THIS WILL NOT BE A PART OF THE
ITEMS IN THE BOX. LENGTHS FOR VARIOUS MACHINES ARE MENTIONED UNDER STEP 19A OF THIS
INSTRUCTION.
Installation Procedure

1. Cut bulk hose (47) to the length of 24 cm (9.4 inch). Crimp couplings (1) and (2) to the hose. After
crimping the couplings to the hose, hose assembly length should be 311 ± 5 mm (12.2 ± 0.2 inch) (A).
Note: Hose assembly will be manufactured at the dealer end.

2. Install adapter (6) to pump (4) inlet port and install elbow (5) to the pump outlet port. Refer to Illustration
2.
3. Connect strainer (3) and pump (4) by connecting the outlet of the strainer to adapter (6) in the pump inlet
port.
Note: The arrow on top of the strainer indicates the direction of flow.
4. Position the pump with the strainer against the inside rear wall of bracket (7). Align the four mounting
holes.
Note: The bowl for the strainer, the elbow, and the pump harness connector extend through the two holes
provided in the bottom plate of bracket.
5. Install hose assembly with coupling (2) connected at the strainer Inlet (3). Refer to Illustration 2.

6. Install pump (4) to the inside of the rear wall of bracket (7) with four screws (10), four washers (9), and
four lock nuts (11). Tighten the screws until the nut and washer are seated against the rubber mount. Then
tighten each screw an additional two turns.
7. Install the 82 cm (32 inch) bulk length of seal (8) to the inside lip of bracket assembly (7). See Illustration
3.

8. On water tank (12), install bushing (15) in the water tank outlet port, See Illustration 4. Then, install valve
(16) in bushing (15).
Note: Plate (13) is provided to accommodate a beacon light with a magnetic holding base.
9. Install plate (13) on the top of tank (12) with six self-tapping screws (14). Install the plate on the centerline
of the tank and to the rear of the tank cap lid.
10. Tighten screws (14) to a torque of 2 ± 0.25 N·m (20 ± 2 lb in).
11. Place tank (14) on bracket assembly (9) and connect coupling (3) of hose assembly (4) to shut-off valve.

12. Position tank (12) so that the valve stem extends through the hole that is provided in the rear plate of
bracket. Position the tank tightly against seal (8).
13. Install the two brackets (17) to secure tank to bracket assembly (7). Use four bolts (19) and four washers
(18). See Illustration 5.
14. Cut the bulk trim (20) to a length of 120 mm (4.7 inch) and insert the trim on four sides of the bracket
assembly edge. The trim will help to avoid wear between the bracket edges and the canopy. See Illustration
5.

15. Assemble plates (23) and (30) to bracket (7) with four sets of bolts (21), washers (18), and nuts (27). Use
two sets of spacers (22) to bridge the gap between bracket (7) and the front mounting plates. See
Illustration 6.
16. With the help of a lifting device mount the whole unit to the canopy. On each plate (23) in the front of the
canopy secure the bracket assembly with two sets of bolts (31) and washers (18). Place plate (24) between
mount plate (23) and bracket (7). On rear bracket assembly (32) use a set of bolts (26), with washers (25)
and place washers (28) with nuts (29) and provide the necessary torque. See Illustration 6.

17. Remove the existing harness and bracket. Retain the M10 thread formers that secured the bracket. Refer to
Illustration 7.

18. Drill one hole at the three locations (B) on the left lift arm the distance of (C). Drill the holes cautiously, to
avoid puncturing the auxiliary hoses. Refer to Illustration 8.

19. Assemble the hose assembly that will connect from the outlet of the pump to the quick disconnects on the
left lift arm. Use couplings (2) and (40) along with various lengths of bulk hose (47). See Table 2 for hose
lengths. Refer to Illustrations 3 and 10 for placement.

While installing this kit for 226D, 232D, 239D, 249D continue the installation from Step 19.a. For all the
other machines continue the installation from Step 20.
a. Remove and retain screw (S). Mount ladder clip (45) onto the bracket and secure using screw (S).
Remove the existing bolts and mount the plate (46) onto the bracket front and secure using bolts
(48).
20. Assemble the new bracket (39) with the M10 thread former bolts retained in Step 17. Install the hose
assembly per Illustrations 9 and 10. Use the routing and the components that are shown in the illustrations
to install the hose assembly.
21. Apply Loctite 271 to the threads on bolts (36). Assemble the clips (38), bolts (36), and washers (37), then
tighten as required. Refer to Illustration 9.
Note: The 266-3314 Bolts (38) are self-tapping.
Note: Provide sufficient slack at point (D) to prevent stretching of hose when the lift arm is raised fully.
Refer to Illustration 9. Use a 345-4552 Lanyard cable in area (E) to hold the slack part of the hose against
an appropriate hinge point. See Illustration 11.

1. Harness connector "WC-C1" (A) is connected to the pump electrical connector (C). The harness (33) is
routed along hose (47) into the left tower. The harness passes along the auxiliary hose. Strap with duel
straps (43) as required. See Illustration 14.
2. Harness connector "WC-C2" (B) connects to connector "LP-C8" (D) on the left rear platform harness
outside the engine compartment. Remove the cap from connector "LP-C8" (D) to connect "WC-C2" (B) if
equipped with water tank kit. Refer to Illustrations 13 and 14.
