INTRODUCTION

The Computers play a vital role in the modern ways of learning and career. Teaching

students how to use computers help them prepare for any number of possible careers and

classes based on computer education can get even more specific. Computer Networking is a

field that deals with the learner for creation of networks to connect different devices for

communication. This field has evolved a lot in the recent times with better and faster

communication networks.

Whether you are new to the world of development, or have been building things for a

long time — or even if you’re a person who just likes computers and uses the internet daily —

you’ve got to know the basics of networking and specifically Computer Networks.

Learning on setting up a computer network for a fast and reliable way of sharing

informations and resources within a school, business or even industries were you can work for.

The computer networking is an engineering discipline that studies the communication process

on various computer devises or computer linked or networked computers, exchange

information and share resources. It also depends on theoretical application and practical

implementation of fields such as computer engineering, computer science, information

technology and telecommunication.

Computer networks in modern world scenario is ever changing. Data communication

and network have changed the way business and other daily affair works. Now, they highly rely

on computer networks and internetworks. A set of devices often mentioned as nodes

connected by media link is called a network. A node can be a device which is capable of sending
or receiving data generated by other nodes on the network like a computer, printer etc. These

links connecting the devices are called communication channels. Computer network is a

telecommunication channel which we can share data with other computer or devices which are

connected to the same network. It is also called data network. The best example of computer

network is internet. Computer network does not mean a system with one control unit

connected to multiple other system is slaves. That is distributed system, not computer network.

This area and competencies will tackle by the researcher.

The researcher focused on the skills that the senior high school CSS students of Libon

Agro in terms of computer networking where they are expected to be proficient in order to be

suited to the competencies that the national certificate asked for. This course is designed to

develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a Computer Service Technician in accordance with

industry standards. It covers basic and common competencies such as installing, maintaining,

configuring, and diagnosing computer systems and networks. Knowing the proficiency of the

students is a very important factor for their learning as CSS students, especially to boost their

performance and to develop it when needed.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The aim of these researchis to identify the level of proficiency in computer networking

among Grade 11 and 12-Css students of Libon Agro Industrial High School. Specifically, this

study sought to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

a) Age
 b) Sex

c) Educational status

2. What is the level of Proficiency along with:

a) Identifying different devices

b) Identifying tools and equipment

c) Cabling and connecting

d) Configuring each devices

3. What recommendations may be proposed based from the findings of the study?

STATEMENT OF HYPOTHESIS

These study tries to test the null hypothesis as follows:

1. The performance of the students does not affects their proficiency in

computer networking.

2. Students attitude towards their performance in computer networking does

not relate with their level of proficiency in computer networking.

ASSUMPTION

These research study is anchored on the assumption that the respondents are honest

and objective in expressing their perception on the level of competencies of both students and

teachers of Css that will be used as the basis for the proposed enhancement measures.

Moreover, the students response and scores in the survey questions are reliable bases in

measuring the students performance.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION AND OF THE STUDY

This study will be concerned with determining the the causes of failures in general

competencies in Css course among grade 11 and 12 Css students of Libon Agro Industrial High

School during the school year 2019-2020. It will investigate only the personal characteristics of

the students as probable causes of failures.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

These study will give both the teachers and students of Computer System Services a

clear idea and bases on possible failures and low performance rate in said course. Knowledge

of these will greatly help those responsible to adopt remedies to decrease their distraction and

failing grades in the course. Higher performance level may also help to strongly increase their

proficiency in Computer System Servicing.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

The following terms are defined according to the context in which they will be used in
the study for a clearer understanding of what they mean:

Attitude. It means a person’s point of view or his/her way of looking at things.

Proficiency. A high degree of competence or skill; expertise

Skills performance. The ability to use one's knowledge effectively and readily in

execution or performance, dexterity or coordination especially in the execution of learned

physical tasks learned and power of doing something competently .A developed aptitude or

ability language skills.
