CHAPTER 3

Methodology.

3.1 Sampling technique

The researchers used Slovin’s formula as sampling technique in selecting the

respondents. In dividing the exact sample population the researchers divided the

Grade 11 and Grade 12 students in equity form to get the fair number of percentage of

Senior Highschool students since the total population of Grade 11 and 12 are not

equal.

3.2 Respondents

The respondents of this study are Grade 11 ( Science Technology Engineering

and Mathematics, Accountancy and Business Management, Information

Communication Technology, House keeping sections A and B) and Grade 12 (

Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics, Accountancy and Business

Management, Information Communication Technology, Tourism sections G and C)

students of Bolinao Integrated School .The respondents are composed of 545 SHS

students- Grade 11 (STEM-57, ABM-38, ICT-59, TVL A. -66, TVL B. - 69 ) Grade

12 (STEM-51, ABM-31, ICT-62, tourism G-53, Tourism C-59 ) students with a

sample population of 289 students in Grade 11 and 256 students in Grade 12. All in

all there are 231 SHS students as the sample population.

3.3 Instruments

In this study the researchers used likerts questionnaires to gather answers from

Grade 11 and Grade 12 students about the Effects of Playing Mobile Legends in the

Academic performance of Senior Highschool students in Bolinao Integrated School.

The questions were constructed to conduct a quantitative data gathering that focused

only on the effects of playing Mobile Legends to the academic performance . The

questionnaires were given to each students with exact and the same questions.

3.4 Data Gathering Procedures

The instrument used in this study was likert scale questionnaires. The researchers

had followed certain procedures in conducting the data gathering.

1.) Preparing the instruments. The questionnaire prepared by the researchers and

printed it before the respondents will answer it to make the survey fast and

prevent unreadable questions.

2.) Knowing the qualified respondents. The researchers seek the sample

population of SHS students using the Slovin’s formula and randomly give the

exact number of questionnaires to the students.

3.) Proving survey consent. The researchers ask the approval of the subject

teacher in charge of the respondents and the approval of the respondents

before conducting the data gathering procedure.

4.) Securing the Confidentiality. The researchers made the questionnaire non-

profiling with the name optional to secure the identity of each respondents and

it is the Researchers responsibility.

5.) Conducting the Data Gathering. The researchers give one by one

questionnaires to the respondents with exact and the same questions. The day

when the researchers gave the questionnaires is also the day they collected it.

6.) Analyzing and Interpreting the Gathered Data. After the survey the , the

researchers separated the survey questionnaires according to the profile of the

respondents. The researchers collect the data honestly without manipulating to

maintain the ethics of the study and to reveal the real result of the study.
