Ⅰ. Overview
This software is able to control LA76818. It is used in TV+DVD or TV. This software
has many functions, and can be used in the TV from lower to higher. The hardware
characteristic of this CPU and the brief introduction of the function that software has are
shown below.

1). Function:
 Position display (include AV and DVD mode).
 To page adjustment menu.
 If the “CHILD LOCK” is set to “1” in adjust menu6, then the “CHILD LOCK” function
is selected. Pressing this key over four seconds, then enter or exit the LOCK mode.
At CHILD LOCK mode, the TV is auto set blue screen and mute, the position is not
watched.
3-16.V-CHIP (remote key)
Function: to enter the V-CHIP menu
1) Instruction of the V- CHIP menu:

 When the “V-CHIP OPTION” in the adjustment menu6 is set to “1”, the V-CHIP
function is selected, this key is acceptable.
 In the V-CHIP menu, pressing this key to select the each options, the POS+ or POS-
key also can be used to select the options, the selected option is red, the other are
cyan.
 After the option has been selected, pressing the VOL+ or VOL- key to change setup
or to enter the next menu.
 If the “V-PASSWORD” in the adjustment menu6 is set to “1” in the adjust menu6,
then the password function is used. The first line is “PASSWORD” in the V-CHIP
menu, when the correct password is input (omnipotent password: 6568), then the
first line is changed as “NEW PASSWORD” and the cursor is moved to next line.
 “Set new password” option:
After the password has input, the first line is shown as ”NEW PASSWORD”. Press
the POS+/POS- key to set the cursor is in the first line, pressing the digital key to
input the new password of four digitals. Then the fist line is shown as “CONFIRM”
that’s input the new password to confirm. If the password is the same, then the first
line is shown as “NEW PASSWORD OK”, otherwise is not.
 Exit automatically menu when any operation is not executed over ten seconds.

2) Instruction of the TV Rating and MPAA Rating and the covered condition:
 There is two terms in order to cover some program:
1.The “Block” is set “ON” in the V-CHIP MENU;
2.The class of the related option of TV Rating or MPAA Rating menu is set “B”;
When the CPU detect that the signal is the Class of “B”, the screen is automatic blue
and TV is automatic mute (the Block is On), and the OSD is the information.
 In TV Rating or MPAA Rating option, the related menu is selected by pressing the
VOL+/VOL- key. At this time pressing the POS+/POS- key to selected setup options,
pressing the MENU key to change setup. The “B” is the covered class, the “U” is not
covered class. When pressing the MENU key to set low class as the “B”, the higher
class will be automatically set to “B”; While pressing the MENU key to set high Class
as the “U”, the lower Class will be automatically set to “U”.
 In the TV Rating or MPAA Rating menu, the VOL+ or VOL- key is used to change
between the two menus.
 Exit automatically menu when any operation is not executed over ten seconds.
 The TV and movie class is set up according to the 's standard of United States.

3-17.CCD (remote key)
Function: To control CCD on or off.
3-18.MENU
Function: to enter the PICTURE, AUDIO, OPTION, CLOCK and PRESET menu.
3－19 PROD
Function: To enter FACTORY mode, B/W BALANCE mode, ADJUST mode.
 Pressing this key the cycle pattern is shown below:

 At the FACTORY mode, the B/W BALANCE mode and ADJUST mode, the blue
background function and the automatically shutting TV function that the TV has not
signal are automatically canceled.
 The “FACTORY” mode is stored in EEPROM that is auto cleared when the TV is

restart.
The “FACTORY” mode is used in the aging process of product.
 The method that using normal remote to set factory mode: first set the volume to “0”,
second pressing the MENU key to search PICTURE menu, then input “6568”.

Ⅴ.Factory adjustment and setup
4-1.The adjustment of manual B/W BANLANCE
1.Operation method:
a) Press the PROD key to enter the B/W BANLANCE mode, the first item “S-BRI”
is displayed at this time. This OSD display is only line on the top in order to
provide the camera with the middle part to gather lighting.
b) Press the POS+/POS- key to select the adjusted item that need to display. The
digital key of “0 ～ 7” can be used to select the items quickly when OSD
displays.
c) Press the VOL+/VOL- key to adjust the item that has been selected.
d) Repeat the step b and c, adjust process until result is satisfactory, then
pressing the PROD key to exit.

3.During service time, the LINE mode is used to adjust approximately the B/W
balance.
At the LINE mode, the eight keys of normal remote-control unit are acceptable
except the MUTE key. But the functions are changed as the followings.

4-2.The adjustment of adjust item and the setup of item

1.Operation method：
a). Press the PROD key to enter the ADJUST mode.
b). The “MUTE” key is used to page up, the “DISPLAY” key is used to page
down. The “JUMP” key is used to change the menu from MENU0 to MENU2.
c). The POS+/POS- key is used to select the item that need be adjusted. The
digital key of “0～9” can be used to directly select the adjust menu from one to
nine.

Ⅵ. The explanation of special function

5-1.The function of normal remote control unit realizing the “factory”

1).The operation method is shown below:
First set the volume is “0”, second press the “MENU” key to enter PICTURE menu,
then press the digital key to input “6568”, the “factory” function can be realized.
2).The fast method at “FACTORY” and “B/W BALANCE” and “ADJUST” mode: the
“SLEEP” key is used to change among three modes, the “RECALL” key is used to exit
from factory to normal.

5-2.Screen function
The screen function is realized when the “SCREEN OPT.” is set to related value in the
menu3. The waiting time of blank screen (“SCREEN TIME”) is set according to the
different CRT. The setup mark is displayed in the process of waiting if the screen
function has been set. If the screen left side isn’t covered, please set the “SCR.H.POSI.”
in the adjustment menu2 to the proper position. The hardware need be changed to
produce the phase pulse of CPU if the best state isn’t set. The screen function is not
used if the screen is not adjusted.

5-3. Over modulation control function

This function is selected when the “OVER.MOD.SW” is set to “ON” in the menu12. The
“V.LEV.OFFSET” is used to offset to the video output, the “OV.MOD.LEVEL” is used to adjust
the value. Only the fined position can be offset.

5-4.HOTEL mode
The hotel mode is used when the “HOTEL MODE” in the menu6 is set to “1”. The
“HOTEL VOLUME” is used to set the volume, the “ON POSITION” is used to set the
position number at hotel mode.

5-5.Only AV mode
The only AV mode is used when the “ONLY AV MODE” is set to “1”. The TV mode is not
realized at only AV mode. Only the picture menu is displayed and the auto shut off
function is canceled.

5-9.Factory mark and screen setup

The factory mark is divided into two lines, it can set 16 characters every line. The
content, switch, font, color and position can be set. The factory mark is set, and at least
one line among them is set to ‘TURN ON’ state. The factory OSD will be displayed when
the screen is blue at no signal. If the “POWER LOGO” is set to “ON”, the screen function
is displayed at POWER ON.

1).Operation explanation
 Press “P.MODE” key over 3 seconds to enter the factory mark setup mode.
 The factory menu have two screens, it is respectively used to adjust the first and
second line. After entering the setting menu, press the “POS+/POS-” key to select
the option, if the option is selected, there is the yellow piece on the screen to show
the adjustment option. The other OSD that are selected are red, otherwise the OSD
are cyan. Press the “VOL+/VOL-” key to select the value of selected option.
 The adjustment of display content: pressing the “POS+/POS-” key to select the
adjustment item. The adjustment character is yellow and press the “VOL+/VOL-” key
to adjust the content. The “P.MODE” key is used to select the other character at the
same line.
 The OSD of menu is always displayed, pressing the DISPLAY key to exit after the
setup finish.
 The factory mark is set to “to see, to get”. The display of content, color, font and
position are the same as normal, except the display of that in the factory mode.
So the result of adjusting can be directly seen.
 The setup of two lines content, please don’t set to layer after layer, in order to
prevent the abnormality.

5-10.The realization of automatic adjusting at factory

The CPU pin25 is the “ENABLE”. It is set to high level in normal. When this pin is low
level, the control right of CPU is handed by the automatic adjustment instrument after waiting
160ms. The automatic adjustment instrument can send the data through the BUS to adjust,
the adjusted data must be written into the EEPROM. Then the ENABLE port come back to

high level, the CPU is normal after waiting about 500ms. The data about the automatic adjust
and the address of EEPROM are shown below:
