The correct operation and maintenance of GWM 2.8TC diesel engine

Ⅰ.The instruction of 2.8TC engine

2.8TC engine is the first common rail diesel engine with self-owned intellectual property right in domestic market. It adopts

Bosch CRS 2.0 high pressure common rail system. The Max pressure can reach to 145mpa. It can not only provide the

constant power but also keep a high economical level through the precise electronic control. As it is a bran-new type of

engine and it has some special parts, please keep some special spare parts in stock and do the maintenance as the following

to attribute to the good working of the engine.

Ⅱ.The maintenance of 2.8TC

1. Maintenance period and item

¾ Fuel filter: the first maintenance is at 10000km(replacement), then every 25000～30000 km do the replacement.

¾ Oil filter: Take the first replacement when the mileage is up to 4000km, then do the replacement every 12500km.

¾ Replace the timing belt when the mileage is up to 80000km.

¾ Oil : change it at the mileage of 4000—5000km, then change it every 12500km.

2. The spare part, lubricant oil, fuel used in the maintenance.

¾ Fuel filter, oil filter

¾ The oil must be CI-4 level (Mobile product is recommended)

¾ Select the good quality light diesel

1. We advise you to keep proper amount of fast moving parts (filters) of the 2.8TC engine, and 2 or 3 sets of the special

parts for the 2.8 TC engine for the future repair purpose, details as following.

Ⅳ The tools and attention items during the maintenance

1. The GWM X-431 scanner should be put into use if there is a malfunction on the engine. You should

upgrade the system to V17.01 version first before the test. For those who still don’t have the scanner,

please purchase the tool immediately or the engine malfunction will not be removed without the scanner.

Notice: please choose the Bosch V50 or Bosch-edc16 diesel engine test program for testing.

2. Since the 2.8TC ECU and the fuel injector are calibrated together, every injector is fixed only for one

cylinder and has the IQA code input into the ECU. The installation position shouldn’t be changed (e.g.

never fix the 1st cylinder injector to the 2nd cylinder). If there were a need to change the injector or the ECU,

you have to match the ECU and the injector by the scanner or the vehicle will have insufficient power and

black smoke. The specific matching steps are as follow:

¾ Turn on the scanner, choose the GWM test program V17.01

¾ Choose Bosch-edc16 diesel engine test program

¾ Select the injector matching

¾ Input the IQA code

¾ Finish.

Note: the IQA code is on the top surface of the injector, see the figure:

3. You must use the scanner to clear the malfunction code; you can not clear the malfunction code by using the

conventional way that cutting off the cathode wire of the battery.

Note: if the vehicle there is equipped with V50 program (The wingle or Hover TC ordered after May 20th), you only

can clear the trouble code with the V50 test program. If the vehicle there is with V44-ECU (The wingle or Hover TC

ordered before May 20th), you only can clear the code with the Bosch-edc16 diesel engine test program.
