APPLICATION LETTER FOR COLLEGE ADMISSION

Parts of An Application Letter

Heading
The heading is composed of the date, sender’s name and sender’s address.

Inside Address
It has the name and address of the recipient of the letter.

Salutation
It is a formal greeting to the receiver of the letter. You will set the tone of your letter, which should be professional
and appropriate.

Body text of the letter

This part shows the desire of the sender to apply to a certain college. It has three distinct paragraphs:
•First Paragraph: This part shows your intention for writing.
•Middle Paragraph(s): This part shows the qualification of the sender. Things stated here are his/her achievements
and other important indicators for dedication.
•Last Paragraph: This paragraph states the gratitude and attachment of the sender and the hope to be interviewed.

Closing
Finish your letter with a formal closing like "Sincerely" or "Respectfully yours." A cover letter is professional
correspondence, so don't use informal closings like "Cheers" in the letters you write to apply for jobs.

Signature
It is a sign of legitimacy of the letter. How you sign your cover letter will depend if you're sending a paper or email
letter.

An application letter for college admission is a document written by the student who wants to apply for the course.
As a request is being made, the letter should have a polite tone. It is a document sent with a resume to provide
additional information about the sender.

University Chancellor
MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology
Tibanga, Iligan City

Dear Dr. Gonzaga:

Good day!

I would like to express my desire to study in your university. I have found out that your school offers the best
Engineering courses, which I believe, it’s for my greatest advantage since I wanted to take up BS- Civil
Engineering.

I graduated as valedictorian from Bayugan National Comprehensive High School-STEM. I also served as SSG
president in our school and I was active both in academics and extra-curricular activities. This would assure
you that I will not be a liability in your school.

I am hoping for your positive response and I would love to be interviewed by you. Attached in this letter is
my resume for your perusal. Thank you!

Respectfully yours,

JOSHUA M. RAMIREZ
