Community service is work done by a person or a group of people that benefits
others. It is often done near the area where you live, so your own community
reaps the benefits of your work. We do not get that not paid to perform
community service. Our NSTP group went to Gulod Itaas, Batangas City to
conduct activities and also to share a pleasurable things with every kids we
encounter in the said place. We took a ride on a jeepney and we rode it going to
Gulod and ride again on a tricycle to reach Barangay Hall of Gulod Itaas where
we conducted our Civil Welfare Training Service.
Project beneficiaries are those who will derive some benefit from the
implementation of the project. The kids who are ages 3 to 9 years old are directly
participating on the project every sessions of it. The target beneficiaries of this
program is those kids ages 3 to 9 years old. They participated directly in the
project. Also, those barangay officials who guided us do our project. They are the
person who was responsible for giving us the authority to use their private things
there. The duration of time is approximately 54 hours. Every session we spent 6
hours for the whole day.

As we all know that community service allows those participating to reflect on the
difference they are making in society we offered them to get involved in
community service to come out with a more well- rounded worldwide. Another
benefit in participating to our project in community service is a greater
understanding and appreciation for diversity. For our assistance program we
included here a temporary assistance for those needy kids/families. After the
conducted program we offer them a renewal of facilitation like painting structures.
On the 30th of March is the implementation of our project. As what we discussed
about, every 7 in the morning we need to be there and collect all the kids and
take off on Barangay Hall at exactly 8 in the morning. the day is boring without
the kids to play games. so we prepared a lot of activities for them to enjoyed. At
exactly 10 am we discussed what activities we have done and make sure that
they understand it by doing seatwork activities. Afterwards, When the clock hits
11 ocklock we decided to give them their lunch until 12 noon. and the remaining
hour, we spend it and have a brief discussion for the session.
IV. Financial Requirement and Sources
And with the help of our parents and also each and everyone of us, we
contributed at least 30 pesos a week and per session.
Transfortion- Php 253 each
First Aid Kit-Php 202
Papers (Print and photocopy)- Php627
Foods- Php6128
Donations ( includes cleaning matereials)-Php1700
Total Expenses: Php9993
Total Collection: Php10020
Remaining Fund: Php190

V. Assessment of the Project

While completing community service project, kids develop real-world skills that
help them succeed in middle school, high school and beyond. They practice:
leadership, problem-solving, collaboration with others, time management and
communication. Most importantly, kids learn that the work they do can make a
real impact in the world. By getting involved in community service at a young
age, children also develop a richer perspective of the world they live in, connect
what they learn in the program to the real world. Community service gives
students an opportunity to explore academic interests through a real world lense.
Weve found that what when students connect what theyre learning in school to
issues that actually matters in real life, they throw themselves into learning.as
admission to elite colleges snd universities has become more competitive,
volunteer experience can prove an advantage in the college admission process.
For that reason, many students starts dpoing community service projects as they
advance through it.
When students get involved in community service, they do not help others- they
expand their worldwide, develop emphaty and leadership skills, and realize how
their actions can have a positive impact. Thay also return to their house realizing
how theyre learning applies to the real world, which reinvigorates their passion
for learning.

In conclusion, we truly believe that doing something that is meaningful to our

community where we live is not only doings God work, but given back to the
community and helping someone less fortunate than us. Be it working as a team
in such a big group together or be it controlling and managing the kids both of
these needs to have patience and understanding. Another thing to mention is
after seeing and looking the kid’s current conditions. We also have realized how
fortunate we are, in this current state, living in such a comfortable environment,
able to have a proper education, food and shelter. Being able to help and teach
and to show love and support to a particular community is a privileged for us.
Completing these projects really boosts our self-esteem because it makes us feel
good about ourselves to help serve the community.

For recommendation, the project becomes more effective if there is a set of

strategic goals for the overall program and for separate sub populations to
provide basis for improving program leadership, administrative oversight and
program evaluation.

First day, Orientation with the kids in Gulod Itaas, Batangas City

First day is a nice day. Kids were so excited on what will going to happen. When we look
on their beautiful faces it makes us happy, all the tiredness we felt becomes nothing
when they give us their smile, their laugh and of course the care they showed with us.
Some of them loves to play and just want to have fan all day long. it doesn’t matter
when they wanted to play, but as a part of our mission there, we need them to be
behave and participate on every activity we do.

As part of our orientation, we gave them a brief discussion on what will going to do
during our meet up. As expected, they show their naughty side with us but we
understand it because we know that they were very excited on everything. Excitement
is normal when there is an activity like this and when the guess is all children. Don’t
hesitate to take opportunity by taking care of the children. Because their parents give us
permission to let their children be with us. And as their sisters and brothers we don’t
want the trust of their parents be wasted just because we don’t take our responsibilities
and obligations for them. We consider the reason-why are we here. What could be
worse than pressuring parents into conceiving the things they don’t really want?

Kids are actively participating on different games.

If you want to see pure and genuine bliss, let kids play.

Let kids play. Let them feel glad, let them enjoy everything. Keeping all the kids actively
participating is such an incredible thing to do. Because you need to think of what things
to to do for them to get bored and just sit and do nothing. As part of energizer we gave
them a games, a particular game like ‘group yourself’. First, we introduced them the
game and gave them the instructions that needed to be followed for the whole game. At
the count of five the game started. The kids had the struggle to find another member of
the group but the important there is that the feelings and the enjoyment they have.

We realize that most of our time is spent tending to the wants and needs of our own
self. Just remembering the past, children constantly running, from before the sun rises
until well after it sets, trying to hold all of the pieces to our life’s puzzle together.
Ironically, somewhere through it all, you lose track of the most important piece, it’s our
self. Giving the chance to those kids to play, why we take it off to them if we have the
ability to make them happy? Don’t make anybody accused you of being ‘selfish’. Never
feel guilty for wanting to take time with some other kids. After you do for everyone else,
you’ve earned it. Take time to help and to lend concern, kindness, sympathy, gentleness
and calmness to those who are in need especially to children.

Four corners of this room prove that anyone could be siblings by heart,
keeping all the good memories within.

It’s nice to have someone in your life that can make you smile even when they are not
around. A sibling is your brother or sister. It's that simple. The word sibling once meant
anyone who is related to you, but now ‘sibling’ means more to us. The best thing in life is
the places we’ve been, and the memories we’ve made along the way. Spending our first
day with this pretty and handsome kid is such an honor for us, being with them is just an
awesome. Because it’s our first time to meet different children from different place like
this.

While we doing that picture taking we notice that the kids really loved to take photo of
themselves. We can see here the reflection of the 21st century-our present generation.
It symbolizes that there is a big change between what the kids before and what are
them now. We as their brothers and sisters give their guidance and let their full
potential on creating and improving themselves showed and developed. That photo of
us together with the kids will always be in our hearts until the day that we have our own
life. Because that kids teaches us and gave us lessons in life. They make us feel
trustworthy and responsible on taking good care of them.

Before that day end, we prepared them their lunch. For them to be satisfied we ask
them what kind of food they eat. And of course as what our group goal is to lend them
tips on how to care about their selves we prefer to give them healthy and satisfying one.
And to make it happen we make a contribution and were just happy to see on their eyes
the gladness when the food was arrived.

March 30, 2019

Children can make their hands more vivid as what our world is.

We often start our morning activity with prayer to be headed by the assigned person on
that certain day. On this second day of our activity we tackled about ‘proper hygiene’
and let be specific on ‘proper hand washing’ and how can kids like them saves their
safety whenever they encounter bacteria or some kind of dirt on their hands. So for
them to really understand how to wash our hands properly, we prepare a visual
presentation or a video presentation that promotes cleanliness and safety matters.

The video presentation contains: seven (7) steps on how to wash our hands and a simple
nursery rhyme for the kids to enjoy watching. To explain the content of the video, one
person in our group demonstrates and explains the concept. As she explained it, she
gave a simple example on how bacteria ruin our health on just not washing our hands
properly. She also discussed about when and where to wash hands.

After the briefing and debriefing of the discussion, we proceed to the main activity of
that day. To let kids draw their hands and put colors on it based on how they wanted to
do with it.

There are times we think we can't, but with help, we can conquer all just like
this little girl trying her best to draw.

Her name is (insert name). When we look at her it seems like she’s having difficulties on
illustrating of her hand just like everybody else but some other kids were not. Yes, maybe she’s
in difficulties but she finds way to make things easy. During that day she enjoyed being with us.
We started to care for her and for the other kids also just like they were our neither younger
sister nor brother. Those innocent faces deserve to be loved and cared for. Since that they our
bond to each other becomes deeper and deeper. We consider each and every one as siblings.
We take that opportunity as the beginning of our good relationship and connection to each
other.

Throughout the day, when kids finish their works, we obligate to have a brief discussion about
what that activity for. What’s the purpose of illustrating their hands and how this activity
promotes their skills and potential to showcase their talents. Creating this activity also helps
children to put their time and effort to those things that are more important than to those
things that cannot help them as a better member of the society. It also includes commotions of
expressing their feeling on one thing that cannot be expressed verbally. However, letting them
creating this things brings benefits and profits for the development of the children.

One of the most important personal hygiene practices is hand washing. That is why
during this very special day we make sure that using the affordable equipment, the
community is trained the proper hand washing practice. The unnecessary and improper
washing of hands may be risky to people particularly for kids. In some way, to prevent this kind
of situation, we need to guide children to wash their hands. Because sometimes it’s not enough
to only wet and wash our hands if it is not properly doing. At times, improper hand washing can
cause us illness and poor body health. And to avoid this, we should need to use soap that
necessary for our hands and a clean water to evade bacteria.

Simply getting our hands wet does not explain what really hygiene is; it is
something concerned with knowing and being able to practice the accurate
process.

Washing hands is important for kids to stay healthy. But, are these kids washing their
hands right? Of course yes, because we teach them what we have prepared on the first
activity which are the steps of washing hands. To this picture is a little girl who really
loves to wash her hands. She loves water so much that’s why washing her hands is just
like an effortless unlike other kids who make things harder just only to wash their hands.
if they only know that having neat, fresh and sparkling hand help them to prevent illness
and also make them not only sporty but an active student or member society. So that,
they can also be a good example to those children like them.

April 6, 2019. This day is our third day and our first meeting for the month of April. It’s
almost like the feeling of relief because we used to spend our Saturdays with the kids
that make us more productive of producing learnings and knowledge that nurture them
in the future. This day turns out to be the day of “A Healthy Smile”.

April 6, 2019

They say, happiness cannot be acquired in materials things but this kid proved
them wrong as he held his cake with the brightest smile he could offer and that
even the simplest things matter. Happy Birthday!

Our simple birthday celebration for this little boy was full of excitement and happiness
as he opens the cake. Just thankful for the whole team that gave him a wonderful
feeling and a joyful experience. Celebrating another year of existence is such an amazing
thing to have fun. We wish for this kid all the happiness in life. May his every day filled
with lots of love and contentment because he deserve it. It’s our pleasure to celebrate
his birthday with us. Because at first he have an option if he wanted to stay at home and
just have fun with his family rather than having and letting a half of his very special day
with us. This little boy who celebrated his birthday is Lawrence. During that time he was
very overwhelmed by receiving so much attention for his birthday. He was very thankful
and grateful to be surrounded with love of people who has been there through his
difficulties in life. And yet, for other people birthdays are incomplete without surprises;
but with us this kid can celebrate and surprise in any forms, to any age group for a
children like him. Birthdays are significant not only because you came into existence
that day but it’s one day when you have your special ones wishing and planning birthday
surprises. After giving him a simple birthday cake as a group we make it happen. We
make him smile, we make him excited, motivated and especially we make him happy.
Being part of his journey is one of the most beautiful happenings in our life. Because as
he grow up he always remember that there people when he was a kid who make feel
him feel that he deserves to be loved and to be cared for.

Look how the kids are watching intently and how the video brought them to
something exciting and beneficial

We got kids to clean their teeth through the importance of dental health. While
watching the video presentation, kids tells stories of their experiences with their teeth.
Some of them tackles about when they eat candies and they forget to drink there is a
sudden pain that attacks their teeth and cause cavities. Missing teeth also make it easier
for plaque to build up in places that are hard to clean, resulting in gum infections that
can lead to the loss of more teeth. We also discussed them that each plays a vital role. If
one tooth missing it can cause shifting of bite pressure onto other teeth, which can,
over time, cause these teeth to move onto the space the missing tooth once occupied.
As we continue of what we are doing, we started discuss one by one the benefits of
having a healthy gums. It was grateful that the kids are participating and there is no
hesitation on their eyes. They just wanted to learn something new, something
innovative and something different that we think they can also share to somebody. The
‘tooth brushing activity’ during that day designed with the intention of improving the
oral health of young children and with emphasis on the importance of daily good oral
hygiene habits. For instance, knowing the essence of those activities it helps them to
communicate with their friends with self-confidence, self-reliance, and poise. Even
though its close up or face to face there is no hesitation on that because they are pretty
sure that what they watch on the video can helped them to have it on their daily lives.

A visit to each child after watching video and a short exchange of conversation about
what we had done. We start to do the activities that related to the topic of that day.
And to jump into the activity we explain them what to do and how to make their works
more creative and productive.

After watching the clips about our teeth, these kids showed how much they
know about it by making an art.

Think brushing teeth cannot be fun? Think again! Fun, interactive, and educational
activities can get kids interested in brushing and learning the right way to take care of
their teeth. Brushing can be fun with games, coloring sheets, songs, and videos that
encourage good healthy hygiene. A little bit of fun can go a long way when it comes to
brushing teeth? There are a lot of fun and entertaining activities that can teach kids how
to brush the right way. If kids have a positive learning to brush, they will remember the
lesson and be more likely to brush regularly.

It is amazing how kids do their works. We can see that they learn a lot of things through
watching the video clips. On the picture above, the kids actively participating and calmly
enjoyed cutting papers but of course with our guidance. The red paper represent as
their tongue, cotton as their teeth and the card board as their lips. It is wonderful how
kids create it. It appears that they really understand the video, the cleanliness and the
purity was in there. And what we occasionally do after the activities we started to give
them their lunch and brought them home.

April 13, 2019, it is our fourth day of having our CWTS. And today’s agenda is all about
proper ways of taking a bath. As usual we prepare video again for our discussion. Before
we play the video, we organized tables and chairs in the way that they can easily see the
video.

April 13, 2019

Children are watching videos that will help them to get information that is good
for them.
There was a time when someone took a shower, maybe the educations was not there,
the wording due to the lack of much education was not there and circumstances under
which this information we had was shared. The video presentation tells about proper
ways of showering and cleaning our entire body. After watching the video we asked
them generally if did they find their selves a better person when they are unclean or
dull. Of course all of them says that they are not comfortable when the they passed that
they cannot take a bath. Taking with a bath matters especially for kids. Imagine what
weather we have now, and imagine that you do not take a bath the feeling is that so
sticky and uncomfortable right?

Distribution of envelops which will be used in keeping their previous activities

Here is another day in extending our help to to those kids of Barangay Gulod Itaas,
Batangas City. For that day we are targeting 20 children to distribute the envelops. For
every child there is an equivalent set which includes: bond paper, pencil, crayon, and
eraser. So, in simple words, all of them needed to succeed in their coming activities in
order to obtain their creativity. It is the high time to bring back our solidarity and
sympathy to the poor.
Children are doing some activities based from what they learned from the
videos

So here we go again, the kids started to do the activity for the day. They draw
themselves taking a bath with the things they usually used when taking a bath. We all
know that kids loves to play first on before taking a bath, this is one of their favorite
time. The kids grow up so fast, we wish we could have done something more with them.
April 27, 2019

Utilizing what they learned by applying it in some activities

This is our last meeting for the month of April. April 27, 2019 bring us closer to each
other. it seems like the time goes by so fast. we enjoyed having previous activities with
each other. Getting to know each other makes us more comfortable, we are able to
recognized their skills and we are so very proud that until that day they came with the
smile. They don’t have any hesitations to approach us. Such a great experience even
though we a lot of time to spent with. We take this opportunity to thank those kids so
much.

This actually happened on May 11, 2019. This day is a special day for our little buddies.
Because finally, they received their medals and awards due on their efforts and
understanding to our project. We are just being thankful for their unconditional love for
us.
Look! These kids received their medals for a paid off hard work and
determination.
May 11, 2019

Speechless! Yes. Because at this point we successfully finish our last day
with the kids. sad but at 6the same time happy beacause finally we are taking our
time pressurable and honorable. As we had our last day, We will never forgetr all
the memories and experiences we experienced all throughout the whole semester.
May 18, 2019

Finding the cheapest yet useful things our money could afford.

During this time, we go to the market where we can find those things that we can
offer to the barangay. We do a canvas of the most appodable yaet high quality
materials to be donated.

these things couldn't be as costly as those any other things, but these are one of
memorable things we could offer
At the end of the day, before we leave at barangay Gulod Itaas Batangas City we
offer them a simple gift to rember. And we do believe that they would not take it
for granted because we all know that all of those people have had their soft-
kinded heart. They accept us pure and they accept as with their warmest
present.

BS Accountancy- AM Session

“Teach. Act. Learn. Apply.”

Intended for the fulfillment of the requirement in our National Service

Training Program subject we have proposed a project entitled “Teach. Act. Learn.
Play.” We are tasked to teach kids about proper hygiene and be able to make them
understand its importance. However, we are not just tasked to make the kids learn
something but also to build a good relationship with them.

In our first meeting I was kind of nervous as to how the kids will react. I’m
afraid to what extent my patience can handle them. Being with kids’ means you
need to have a lot of patience in understanding them, in making them understand
something, in teaching them how to do things tasked to them, in feeding them, and
in listening to the things they wanted to do. Actually I’m not really good in
interacting especially with kids but just within that day we already built a good
connection with them. They all look cute, super energetic and funny which made
us get to know them easily. At first I just think that this is just a requirement I need
to fulfill but as the days goes by and as we get along with the kids I don’t feel like
it is a requirement anymore. I actually look up to every Saturdays because they
are breath of fresh air after five days in school. Those days with the kids feed my
soul, really. They made us feel how to be kids again; to enjoy while learning, to be
given simple things and still be thankful, and to seize every moment given. We are
not the only one who imparted them with learning; they also left a big lesson in our
hearts.

TEACH. ACT. LEARN. APPLY.

When I knew I’ll be having NSTP course, CWTS to be exact, as I entered

college, I really thought that it is something similar to any other courses where I
will be just doing the usual things. But as time passed by, I have realized that my
initial thinking was wrong and that this course is somehow different and no
compare to others especially this last semester. This CWTS made me realize a lot
of things and had made me reflect for so much more.

With regards to our actual project, it gave me the feeling of satisfaction and
a pure genuine happiness for we taught kids of Gulod Itaas, Batangas City the
things we know about the proper hygiene and of course, its mere significance. We
gave them different insights where they will surely be using in their daily lives.
Some of the things we taught them are proper washing of hands, teeth, and even
the healthy foods. It just felt good because we can really see that they are learning
and participating with the tasks given to them. You can see that what we have
prepared for them are all worth it. Even the cash we contributed for this project, it
never compare to the smiles and laughs these kids can offer.

Furthermore, these eight saturdays we had are indeed tiring compared to a

usual class where you will just sit and learn. Nevertheless, it just feels good to
know that you have contributed something significant to them. Yes, it may really
be somehow exhausting but the fact that you know you made these kids beam and
laugh at their most, it’s an unconditional feeling. Surreal, though.

As we had our last day, I will never disremember all the things I have
encountered and experienced all throughout for I know time will come that it will
benefit me. This project made me feel that at some point in my life, I can really give
something. I can offer something.

Teach. Act. Learn. Apply.

As part of the NSTP Class, we conducted a "TEACH. ACT. LEARN. APPLY.

Program" at Gulod Itaas Barangay Hall. At first, I thought that I'd be wasting every
Saturday morning doing something I would find boring and uninteresting.
Apparently, it was something completely different. I found myself appreciating
everything I had and seeing how fortunate I truly am. Not only did I appreciate the
blessings of the Lord has given to me, but I also realized how it is possible to be
happy in unfortunate situations and simple living.
This simple program was organized by a group of responsible students from
the CABEIHM department. Every Saturday morning we would invite children from
Gulod Itaas and bring them to the Barangay Hall Day Care Center. The program
would always start with a prayer, asking for God's presence in the said event. A
kid named Teejay was put under my care and responsibility. I treated him like my
own blood. We prepared learning activities for them and provided the
paraphernalia's needed for the execution of the mentioned activities. It was so
much fun seeing the children participating and enjoying the activities that they were
doing. We also prepared food for them. We worked as one for the success of this
program. I could say that our program was amazingly effective and worthwhile. I
am very happy looking at the faces of every child flaunting their contagious smile.
These children truly taught me valuable lessons in life. I have learned that
genuine happiness comes from giving. Helping others along the way makes you
evaluate who you are. Being able to help is a privilege for us students because it
teaches us how to become concerned to those who are in need, to share what we
have and to abolish the selfishness hidden deep within us. More importantly, it
helped us understand the spirit of compassion and gratitude. The experiences and
memories that I gained on those nine consecutive Saturdays are something I will
cherish and keep into my treasure chest.

As a student, I am very happy for being the one who attended or conducted the
off campus immersion of NSTP-CWTS. T'was a great experience having time for
teaching children, not just personal hygiene that we've proposed but also the
right conduct. I remember the saturdays that every child are attending and having
interaction with us. Sometimes, they are the one who makes me forget my
stress. They made me happy for only just their smiles.

For me, that course or activity shapen me in a lot of aspect. Not just an ordinary
filipino citizen or youth but also that gives us an opportunity to be a leader in our
youth. Making them a good children of their family and our society is my goal for
that activity.

I didn't attend the last saturday of this program and i missed the graduation of the
children. I was sad that time because I never see their genuine smiles receiving
their award. I also thankful for having them and be the part of my college days.

In every saturdays, we conducted an activities with the participations of the kids

on Gulod Itaas. Since it’s their vacation they are happily participating on different
activities. Starting on the first saturday we have a task. Every NSTP members
are given a responsibilities to take care the kids who are given on us. We also
prepared games & opening prayer. Every saturdays the kids are able to watched
an educational videos so that they can learned different chores. We also gave
them school supplies so that in every activities they don’t need to bring their own
materials. The maximum number of kids that we met are 21. We also prepared a
snacks on their break time, prizes for the games and foods for their lunch.

On the last saturday with the kids, we prepared an graduation ceremony for
them. We gave them medals & certificate of appreciation for participating on us.
We saw a big smile on their faces while getting their medals. By the help of those
kids we easily accomplished the requirements for this subject. Helping and
teaching the kids on gulod itaas is one of my best experiences, they treating us
nice like their sisters & brothers. Every time the activities are done we go to their
house to be sure that they go home safely. There is no exercise better for the
heart than reaching down and lifting people up.

Giving different materials like walis tambo, waling tingting, dustpan, mop, trash
can, chalk & eraser that can be use on daily activities. This materials can be use
on the said barangay. Since our proposal is about cleanliness we rest assured
that those materials will help them to use on having clean & well environment this
are also for them to gave back since they treated us nice. By helping others we
are making this world a better place. The real road of compassion, that is, giving,
helping, assistance and community service, is a road that can be set and
declared as your life's purpose. But even with the inspiration of others, it's
understandable that we sometimes think the world's problems are so big that we
can do little to help.

After several Saturdays that we stayed at Barangay Gulod Itaas Batangas City, I
am really happy and pleasured that I do belong to this group. Why do I say so?
Even though we’re not that really know/close to each other we really did a great
activities for some kids at this barangay. At first, I thought that this project would
be boring for us but I’m wrong because we experienced a lot of fun and
enjoyment because of the childrens. I never thought that in short period of time I
will feel so much love for those children that we take cared of. Maybe they are
too loud sometimes but the cuteness and intellegence they have are so
priceless. Even though sometimes we got irritated to the kids still at the end they
made us smile because of their cuteness. And also, I am so thankful for my
groupmates because they are so cool and fun to be with too. Even though
sometimes we’re not prepared for the activities that we will going to give to the
childrens we will think and act easily as one. We are also so thankful to the
parents who gave their trust to us to take good care of their children for almost
five hours every Saturday. It is also our pleasure for those barangay officials
who’s always welcoming us every Saturday morning.

In this activity that we’ve conducted we learned different things that will help us to
become a better person. We learned how to build a teamwork and companion,
how to make our patience long, how to manage a team and also how to
understand each other. This kind of activity helps us to become more socialized
and well oriented in our community. As a student at Batangas State University,
taking NSTP CWTS makes us a helpful and better youth.

The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) is one of three components of

the National Service Training Program, a civic education and defense
preparedness program for higher and vocational education students in the
Philippines. Our project proposal is “TEACH.ACT.LEARN.APPLY” to teach kids
to have a proper grooming and also to boost their knowledge in simple activities
that we have. First day is finding the kids that are available in that time and also
who want to participate in our program. We want to collect as much as we want
but we can’t handle a lot of kids because we are only twenty four there.
I always want to take care of kids because they are so adorable. For me
that is fun and at the same time we are helping them to sustain their knowledge
in their young age. I assist a cute girl and she is so shy because of course she
didn’t know me. But because I love kids, I didn’t stop talking to her until she
talked and finally I won! Sometimes she didn’t want to talk a lot. We have an
activity that is really fun for her because as I observed she want to draw so that I
saw her smiling and that makes my heart flattered. I didn’t expect that she has a
beautiful smile and her eyes is so cute. I thought that she didn’t want to do the
activities but I saw her that she always want to play with those playful colors. One
of our activity for them is the stop dance. They know exactly what the game is.
They enjoyed dancing and what makes them want to win is because of the price.
We want to take care of them perfectly so that we have a foods for them.
We allow them to play sometimes because play is one of the main ways in
which children learn and develop. It helps to build self worth by giving a child a
sense of his or her own abilities and to feel good about themselves. Because it’s
fun, children often become very absorbed in what they are doing. In that activities
and because of this project, I learned that in order to develop strategic
competence in learning, children need to understand what it means to learn, who
they are as learners, and how to go about planning, monitoring, revising, and
reflecting upon their learning and that of others. Children lack knowledge and
experience but not reasoning ability. Although young children are inexperienced,
they reason facilely with the knowledge they have. Children feel lovable when
they have a sense of worth, when they feel appreciated and loved for who they
are, regarding themselves as important and worthy of being loved.

Having a NSTP subject is hard but it is worth it because CWTS subject gives me
a happiness be a big sister to a children. My first thinking in CWTS is so hard and
many document that your going to submit but my thinking is wrong. It is an
activity that you enjoyed and while you're enjoying you learned a lot of things.

In regard in our project in Gulod Itaas Batangas City it gives me a little bit
sadness and happiness because we are used to go in every Saturday to Gulod
Brgy. Hall to teach the children in writting, drawing, coloring and proper hygiene.
On first day we teach how to clean or wash their hand It's hard for us because
some of the children is so young they did not listen on what were talking. It is a
big challenge for us to communicate, interact and have a good relations to the
children almost 9 weeks that our routine is the same, we teach, criticizing them
and give 101℅ of your patience. Im not a type of person who wants a children
because im a type of person that easily irritated and also i hate naughty children
but when you see that they areenjoying and willing to learn a new things im so
happy and proud even if they not exactly do the things that we give they working
on it. So that im so blessed being one of their big sister to share my learning and
have a good relation to a children. The time has already came the last day
sessioj to the kids i am sad because we are all get to used it. I have a lots of
learning that i can apply to myself one of this is patience.

I learned a lot within our 9 weeks to conduct the Teach Act Learn Apply
developed by our group at CWTS. I learned to associate and interact with my
colleagues who I did not know because we were different from the courses we
took. It was hard for me to do that because I was a shy person but because they
were friendly, I started to associate with them and continue this way. Within 7
weeks with these children, I learned to be patient with the baby's watchfulness.
It's not a good idea to become a Daycare and kindergarten teacher, they are
enduring a couple of months but it's okay for them because they know that it's
time to come, they'll be thinking and being successful someday. I admit their
headache and get tired of their prank but I endear them to just teach them well
and increase their learning knowledge. There are so many children in my life and
they have different behaviors, have fun, are silent, have always been fighting and
so on. I also see those with whom they are struggling but when they see them
happy, they're getting tired. It's just a feeling that they enjoy the activities we give
and they always handle us. Especially when we have the food we give, I see in
their eyes how happy they are when we give them their food. I was so sad when
my watchman told me that he would forget about me because we could not meet
again. I just told my youngest brother to die this year, maybe I was comfortable
with taking care of the boy because I was happy to see them happy .But that's
what our parents agreed to entrust to us even though they were children and
even though we did not know them well. And in the rest of the week at CWTS, I
was happy that I helped the barangay hall of Gulod Itaas to provide Cleaning
Supplies to them. I know that great help is what we thought to give them and
because they can keep their barangay clean. I'm also happy to have met and
become a classmate with those who are now with CWTS, because they are very
nice and friendly. I learned that the success of your patience and tiredness in the
care of children is their satisfaction.

Having the Civic Welfare Training Service, I was not expecting that I will
enjoy doing it, but I did. Being with the children for several weeks makes
me happy that I could teach them lessons about proper hygiene and
taking care of the body. I enjoyed being with them and socializing with
them because for me, they are not just students but also like younger
siblings to me. The last day with the children is the hardest part because
we got so attached to them, one of the children says that sje would miss
me and wish that we would be there for another saturdat, and that really
breaks my heart but I'm so happy that in a short span of time, that child
treasures me so much. We had fun making projects and artworks with
them. This makes me realized that, my role in the community is not just
to be a good student but also a productive and useful citizen of the city I
live in. We should not be self-centered but also care for the welfare of
others. Doing projects like this may be small thing for us but for the
beneficiaries, it is of great help. I hope that Batangas State University
will continue making such projects.

In the time that we've conducted our NSTP in Brgy. Gulod Itaas, I've learn
so much lesson. Actually, this isn't just about the lesson that we are disseminating
to the children, but it also about on how you build relationship and how you handle
them. This was conducted in order for us to impart the knowledge that we have to
kids about the proper hygiene so every Saturday, we give them activities to do,
videos to watch and a brief discussion of the specific lessons. Just by doing the
task in the four corners of the room, different personalities and different characters
I did observe there. We can't just leave the kids without doing nothing because
they will find something that they'll and it will cause noise, so every session, the
students make sure that all the kids are doing something. One of the strategies
that we used in order for all the children will be well guided is that, each children
have their own "Ate/Kuya" or each student have their own kids to take care of. One
of the responsibilities that a Kuya or Ate was that they are responsible to fetch up
the children in their own houses and bring them back safely in their home. Aside
from that, everytime there is an activity, there are also responsible to guide and
help the kids to make sure their safety. Just by that, we can really conclude that
the students and the children did really have a strong bond or relationship with
each other.
The NSTP itself wasn't really that easy since a great effort every Saturday
must be exerted. From the time that we need to pass a papers to get ready in the
NSTP, to wake up early in the morning to get ready even the handling of the kids,
I myself, can say that everything is not easy. Through this, I did learn so many
things especially when we were conducting the NSTP activities. First and foremost,
I need to build a strong and good rapport with the children, I need to know their
attitudes so that I’ll know on how to approach them properly, I need to gain their
trust so that they will be comfortable with me- everything about this is should be
done, and fortunately, we made it. As Saturday goes by, a strong bond was really
happening, and when we have that relationship with them, just by thinking will
come to an end makes me sad. All of the kids that we had are all good and they
were really following orders. They also respect their ate and kuya which is really
good to see. They are also doing their tasks well and they do it with their very best.
They also know how to be patient at all times and everytime we will talk to them,
they really are listening. The kids that we have are really precious. They are all like
diamonds. They are fragile too. The good thing that kids have is they are open to
us. They will say what they wanna say and that’s a good thing for us. Sometimes,
yes, it is hard to manage them but at the end of the day, its all worth it. Just by
observing them that they are learning is very heart whelming. So the over all
conduction of NSTP in the mentioned Barangay is one of the experiences that I
can't forget and through that, I was really looking forward to see them grow and
learning. Everything that we have experienced is priceless because the moments
and experiences that we just experienced is all a gem for us.

As a college student, it is a must to have a National Service Training

Program subject. With that, we are required to make a project which has
something to do with the community. Our group organized a project entitled
“Teach. Act. Learn. Apply.” which aims to teach proper hygiene among the kids
ranging from 3 to 9 years old. Having this kind of requirement is costly at my part
considering the contribution and transportation fee. But I am willing to give as
long as I can make a child smile.
At first, I am quite nervous because it is a matter of patience. Knowing that
interacting with kids is not easy. Some are stubborn, some are not. Some pays
attention and listen while others are kept distracted by the environment. Every
kids has their own field of interest which requires us to have a wide
understanding. Those efforts we have commit during those days were all worth it.
I will never forget this amazing experience engaging with the kids from Gulod

Every student should take NSTP (National Service Training Program)

subject, I choose CWTS, I know that in this field I'll be doing some community
service that will benefit to every community that we will be choosing.
With the fulfillment of our requirement in the said subject, we came up with the
project entitled "Teach. Act. Learn. Apply". This project focuses on giving
learning to youth especially to children ages 4 to 9. We conducted this said
project at Gulod Itaas, Batangas City.

At first, we're asking ourselves what if no one will allow their child to be with
us but we''re very lucky that our chosen community is very active with regards to
this project because they are willing to let their child join with us. After gathering
those children, we taught them about proper hygiene and the importance of it.
Some proper hygiene that we taught them encompasses how to wash their
hands, how to brush their teeth and the essentials of doing it. After letting them
know how to do it we always prepared activities for them. And it's so fulfilling that
we can see them learning. Yes, we contributed a lot of money and effort but it's
nothing compare to the laughs and smiles we can see through their face. It's very
satisfying.

We taught them and let them to do the things they learn and encourage them
to apply it to their daily lives. This activity has been a great journey for me
because it helps me to know the importance of helping others and knowing the
essentials of everything that we're doing.

We thought those kids new ideas, we act in a certain community, we learned

from each other and lastly we apply all those learnings in our life.
National Service Training Program (NSTP) - CWTS enabled us, BatStateU

certain community. Brgy. Gulod Itaas of Batangas City serve as cornerstone of
our TALA project. I'm really grateful for the hospitality of those Barangay officials
of Brgy. Gulod Itaas for giving us permission to conduct our activity at their place.
Shout out also to those parents who let us teach their child/s, they are indeed
kind to trust us the well-being of their children.

Truly it's an amazing experience since we got to have a beautiful memories with
those kids specially in my part where I got to know Alexa, Jesus and Jasmine
who are really sweet to the point that Jesus even gave me flowers for two
consecutive Saturdays. This simple gesture of him made me feel apreciated and
thankful that those kids are grateful to have us. Those kids are really attentive to
our teachings and they really gave their 100% effort in every activities we made
after our discussion. I know that the things that we thought to those childrens will
be embodied in their minds and hopefully, in the near future, if they get older they
still won't forget that even for a short time, we've been part of their childhood.
Through my interaction with thosr childrens, I've realized that it's easy to attain
happiness, it doesn't matter if it came from little things or not, what really matters
is the significance it has and the memories along with it. Indeed, life is really
simple yet we, adults make it complicated.

Eight Saturdays, teaching and playing with the kids are very heart-warming
and enjoying. Seeing them with full of laughter and smile also gave me a lot of
happiness. Through this NSTP I learned how to communicate well with the kids,
how to take care of them and how to be patient when they are being so playful and
when they are throwing tantrums. This NSTP is really helpful and essential to us,
the kids are not the only one who learned from our activity but we, who acts as
their teachers and ate’s & kuya really learned a lot from them too. And this memory
is one of the most unforgettable experiences I had this second semester. I
experienced something precious with a new environment. And I am very thankful
too because I am one of the students who are given the opportunity to experience
this kind of activity.
Honestly, at first I thought I would never enjoy this NSTP because taking
care of the kids is very hard and exhausting. Feeding and playing with them is a
tough job. You really need a lot of patience and energy just to keep up with them.
And I am also not that good when it comes to entertaining people especially kids,
or how to explain things in the simplest way I can for them to understand it easily.
That’s why at the first day of our meeting I was so anxious and nervous, I thought
I could not make the kids happy but as we are all adjusting to the new environment
inch by inch we learned how to be comfortable with the kids. And the thought that
we can actually bring happiness to them makes me proud of myself and feel that I
already succeeded in finishing our planned activity.
Before, my only goal is to finish our activity in order for me to complete my
requirements quickly, all I ever think is the day when we can finally get these things
done, but in the middle of the work I fell in love with the kids. They are very lovable
and fun to be with. I enjoy having them beside me. Actually my motivation that time
is the fact that after the last day of teaching I can finally rest without any hindrances
but after our first day with the kids my motivation quickly change, I was motivated
by the mere fact that I can help many kids through our activity. The fact that we
can make them happy and enjoy learning inspired me to work more.
That’s why after finishing our eight Saturdays with the children as we
planned, I cannot believe how days passed by so quickly and the memories I have
not just with the kids but also with my fellow classmate feels like so surreal. And I
am certain that in the next years, days and months that will come, even when the
day comes that the children would already forget about us this memory will remains
in my heart and memory forever.

children about proper hygiene and able them to apply it in real life.
Assurance of kids safety was said to their parents before the project
started. It engage us to become responsible in taking care of them.
This activity helps me as a student to realize that learning can be fun as
long as you can manage your time. Set yourself first a goal before
leisure time like what we did. I also realize that rewarding your self after
studying can boost your motivation to excert more effort. This project
teach me to become more patient calm and understanding to the
children. Patience in teaching them, Calm playing them and
understanding them if they want something. Kids are difficult and
stressful to handle, but at the end of the day i found myself enjoyed
being with them. Seeing them excited to be with us, their smile and jolly

help them to improve their skills and abilities even though they are too young.
Age doesn't matter if you want to learn something good for yourself then act a

clean their hands with proper procedures, coloring, drawing and etc. It is really
hard for us to teach them because sometimes they are so naughty and didn't
listen to us. But times goes by they are all improving with their skills, if you said
that they should do this one, then they will do it.

As a student of Batangas State University, I had learned so many things in our

parents about the current issues in the society also help them improve
themselves. Along our journey in this subject I also found it hard when it comes
in doing the project proposal, completing the requirements needed for the project
and also in budgeting money for the materials that we are going to use. After
completing all the requirements for our project, we ‘re ready to go out and do our
task every Saturday, we become excited to get along with the children and share
something to them.

First day is a great experienced especially when I see the desire and
willingness of the kids to learn. After this, every Saturday become a great
challenge to us but it give us the feeling of fulfillments every time we see the
smiles in the lips of every kids and also the laughter we share together. We take
pictures together and we play a lot together that I really enjoy the most.

This subject give me not only great experience but also one important lesson in
life, even we are college student we can help in our society by simple act of
kindness like what our group shows to the kids in Gulod Itaas. I am hoping that
every youth help and continue to make this kind of activities for the welfare of the
people and to show patriotism in our country for the betterment of our society.

Teach. Act. Learn. Apply.

I've realized that we need to share our blessings and knowledge to others and by
through NSTP-CWTS, we can give them the help that they need. I have also
realized that these program that we presented to the people of Gulod Itaas are not
easy to accomplish because it requires patience and hardwork, but because of
willingness to help for their betterment and through God , we can accomplish all of
these plan.
All of our plans are active and enjoyable to the people especially to the children.
As a member I also help them in their plans by supporting them and help them
arrange the kids every Saturdays. By working together and supporting each other,
we surely attain success in sharing our knowledge to the kids in Gulod Itaas. I have
learned so many lesson in visiting and teaching from visiting the community. Being
helpful, and considerate is one of them because some of the kids there are really
hyperactive but overall I'm happy and I enjoy to meet them all.
