LESSON Free Time

WARM-UP
 Teacher draws a boat slowly on the board and ask ss to guess. T introduces the boat, then T
do the same thing but now with a lighthouse. 5
 Ss are asked: what a boat / lighthouse is for? Would you like to live in one? Why? Why not?
What activities would you like to do in a boat/ lighthouse?
 T asked for volunteers to answer those questions.
PRESENTATION ´
 T asks their ss to open their works at page 18, and says that they are going to hear about
two guys ( Sara and Will) talking about where they live.
 T previously make ss think about this question: where does she live? T reads Rosa´s part,
then after reading ss are asked more questions: Does she like living on the boat? What does 10
she like doing there?
 T move on to Will’s part, ss are asked previously: Does Will like climbing stairs? T make sure
that ss understood the meaning of climbing stairs by doing mimics, T reads will’s part and
then ss answers: no, he doesn’t .

PRACTICE
 Controlled activity: t ask for volunteers to read Sara’s part while one student is reading, t is
pointing with a laser what the ss is reading, then ask for another volunteer to read wills
part.
 Guided activity: SS complete the below part of the book , read the sentences and decide if
those sentences belong to Will or Rosa. 20
 Ss read aloud one by one each sentences and the class say the correct name.
 Storytelling:
Before: T introduces a new friend “Rapunzel” to the class
As the teacher: Class meet my new friend, her name is Rapunzel, say hello Rapunzel
As Rapunzel: Hello my friends, my name is Rapunzel and I live in an unusual house
As the teacher: Really? Where do you live?
As Rapunzel: Why don’t you make your students guess?
As the teacher: well that’s a good idea Rapunzel
As the teacher: Guys I need your help, where do you think Rapunzel lives?
The class: In a castle.
As Rapunzel: Yes, That’s correct, I live in a castle and I like to do a lot of things there.
As the teacher: what activities do you think Rapunzel can do in her free time?
As the class: swimming, painting, cooking, drawing, reading books, do laundry, clean the house,
play guitar , play chess.
T draws a chart about things Rapunzel like and doesn’t like on the board and make ss complete by
sticking flashcards. T review free-time activities by making ss do the activities with mimics
While pointing to the chart, say “let’s listen to Rapunzel to the story and see what activities
Rapunzel like and doesn’t like!
During: T do the storytelling with Rapunzel puppet
T says “when you hear an activity, do the action”
After: Ss complete a worksheet by playing a game to see if predictions were correct, completing
this question.

APPLICATION
Independent activity: ss have to make a poster, where they have to design their unusual house, 15
then write a description of the house and things they like or don’t like doing in it.
Teacher display the projects around the class.
