Equipment’s used in Cement Manufacturing

Raw Mill
- A raw mill is the equipment used to grind raw
materials into "rawmix" during the manufacture
of cement. Rawmix is then fed to a cement kiln,
which transforms it into clinker, which is then
ground to make cement in the cement mill. The
rawmilling stage of the process effectively
defines the chemistry (and therefore physical
properties) of the finished cement, and has a
large effect upon the efficiency of the whole
manufacturing process.
Electrostatic Precipitator

- A filtration device that removes fine particles,

like dust and smoke, from a flowing gas using
the force of an induced electrostatic charge
minimally impeding the flow of gases through
the unit.
- This one common air pollution control device.
Most power stations burn fossil fuels such
as coal or oil to generate electricity for use.
When
these fuels undergo combustion, smoke is
produced. Smoke consists of tiny particles of
soot that are suspended in hot, rising air. These
unburned particles of carbon are pulled out of the smoke by using static electricity in the
precipitators, leaving clean, hot air to escape the smokestacks. It is vital to remove this
unreacted carbon from the smoke, as it can damage buildings and harm human health -
especially respiratory health.
Suspension Preheater
- Replaces the conventional wet calcining and dry long kiln
processes. In comparison with these two conventional
types, the SP process achieves a large energy saving.
- The SP process improves calcining efficiency by drying
and preheating the feedstock using the kiln exhaust gas
(waste heat).
- This gas is normally used in waste heat recovery power
generation. With a 5-stage system, the final temperature is
250°C.
Raw Meal Silo

- A type of equipment that transported from

raw meal mill via bucket elevator, fluid slide
and one distributor box into the raw meal
blending silo.
- The raw meal silo is equipped with an air
balance valve to compensate for extreme
pressure fluctuations in the delivery air. The
air balance valve does not provide overfilling
protection.

Rotary Kiln
- Advanced thermal processing tool used for
processing solid materials at extremely high
temperatures in order to cause a chemical
reaction or physical change. They are
commonly used to carry out processes such
as:
• Calcination
• Thermal Desorption
• Organic Combustion
• Sintering/Induration
• Heat Setting
- Rotary kilns have become the backbone of
many new industrial processes that make the
world a more efficient and sustainable place.
- As new applications for rotary kilns continue
to be developed, much experimental work is
being done, prompting many questions and
the need for further research and
development.
Cement Mills
- are rotating steel cylinders where size
reduction of the mill feed is performed
by motion of the grinding media
- Most cement is currently ground in
ball mills and also vertical roller mills
which are more effective than ball
mills.
