436 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week.
During your hour of Adoration before Our Eucharistic Lord, spend a few
minutes telling Jesus what you are most thankful for, what you are most
excited about, or what you are worried or concerned about, and then thank
Him for listening to you and speaking to your heart. Ask Him to always stay
with you, and help you to follow Him more closely and to love others. Our Lord is
waiting for YOU, call Joie today 330-745-6852.

Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Family life confirms the words of Jesus in today’s
gospel. Commitment, intimacy, loyalty, and love are the rewards of humble service and care for one
another. Pope Francis reminds us, “No family drops down from heaven perfectly formed.”
Now that the hot days of summer are over, we are starting Euchre back up.
Join fellow parishioners for a few friendly hands of Euchre, Friday, September
6, beginning at 6:30 in the cafeteria. Sloppy Joes will be provided, bring a
covered dish to share; we will begin the evening with dinner. Hope to see you there!
It is that time of year again! A new season of RCIA is about to begin and in order
to be hospitable and serve the Inquirers well, several things are needed: Prayer
Partners (make a commitment to pray in a regular way for an Inquirer); many
people to provide a simple snack for a weekly session and parish sponsors. It is
common for inquirers to have difficulty finding an appropriate sponsor or to have
someone who can be present for Rites celebrated and/or to be a companion on the
journey, this should not be a concern for you. If our Lord is prompting you to respond
to one of these needs – or to find out more, please call Fr. Bill Browne at 330-745-
0011. R.C.I.A. begins, Monday, September 9 at 7:00pm in the rectory.
Thank you never seems to be enough when you have such wonderful people that help to pull off the
Parish Picnic without a hitch. From the set-up crew, decorators, servers, those who helped to tear
down, to all those who provided wonderful baked goods, to our cooks, to Petit’s BBQ for the chicken,
White House Chicken for the hot sauce and coleslaw, Casa Del Ranchero for the Kenyan Beef — thank
you all for your contribution. Simply, our picnic was wonderful because of you. Lastly, though, thank
you to our parishioners who came and celebrated our parish family at the 2019 Parish Picnic. When St. Augustine
Church was founded in 1898, it would have been nearly impossible for anyone to imagine that 121 years later our
parish would be able to come together and celebrate what we have here today. Therefore, thank you for giving of
yourself to make our parish better. Just a side note: “And the winner is” - $3,000 Gary Fisher, $750 Cindy Cook,
$500 Marge Falkenstein and $250 Audrey Swogger. Congratulations to our Raffle Winners!
St. Augustine Rectory will be closed Monday, September 2 for Labor Day. Mass will be held at 9:00am

weekly sessions meeting in the rectory each Monday evening starting on
September 9 at 7:00pm and running through October 21. Please contact
the church office to make a reservation. Study guides can be picked up at the rectory.

My Dear Parishioners,
It is with heavy heart that I must inform you that Miss. Ivy Adams is going to be leaving
us September 22 for another position in music ministry. Ivy is a truly talented organist as was
exemplified in her beautiful playing during her recital in Celebration of our Patronal Feast of St.
Augustine. We have been blessed also to hear her wonderful voice at our masses and we have
learned some new musical pieces that have added so much to our liturgies. I have enjoyed
working with Ivy and I wish her nothing but the best and am sure she will be a blessing to St.
Mary Parish in Massillon. Ivy, on behalf of me, our parish staff, and our St. Augustine Parish
Family, thank you!
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun
shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may
God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Christ’s Peace!
