future, with more and more youngsters showing their

produce high-quality 3D animation has become more
affordable in the last five years, thanks to rapid IT

Indonesian youngsters to engage in film productions.
With its diversity of culture and creative talents,
Indonesia surely has the potential to become a
strategic center for the world’s animation industry.
To realize that potential, Indonesia needs an
education system that can produce more talent
with the ability to advance the country’s animation
industry.
To address this opportunity, Djarum Foundation
has set up a vocational animation program at the
Vocational High School Raden Umar Said, in Kudus,
Central Java. This program utilizes a curriculum which
is developed to fit the need of 3D animation today.
Aside from preparing a skilled workforce for the
animation industry, the curriculum is also tailored
to teach students how to produce creative artworks
that can bring Indonesian local wisdom and folk
narratives to global audiences.

The construction industry in Indonesia is currently
worth 10% of the country’s massive GDP. Our
economy is predicted to grow into one of the largest
in the world in the coming decade and construction
will play a leading role on it. For infrasturcture
project alone, the Indonesian government is planning
to spend $450 billion by the end of 2020 offering
investors with unequalled opportunites for short and
long-term returns.
These massive construction projects result in
increasing demand for skilled professionals in the
fields of architecture, civil, mechanical, and electrical
engineering. In the architectural field, architects and
architectural drafters work together in designing
houses and commercial buildings. While architects
develop building designs, architectural drafters
are those who translate the designs into technical
drawings or blueprints.

The country’s population stands at more than 260
million and this represents a promising area for
investment in the construction industry, namely
meeting the housing demands of Indonesia’s huge
and growing population. In addition to residential
projects, demand for other sectors, such as
commercial buildings, health care facilities, and
educational projects is also growing at a fast pace.
Two vocational schools in Kudus train students
to acquire proficiency in architectural drafting by
incorporating Building Information Modeling (BIM)
technology. Under guidance from leading players
in the industry, students learn how to operate this
digital 3D model-based processing software that
allows construction professionals to efficiently plan,

working in the animation industry for 20 years, I am
privileged and honored to share my experience and
knowledge to young kids who have the talent and
desire to learn about illustration for animation.
This industry is dynamic and on the rise in Southeast

I’m interested in the culinary world, especially the
one that relates to unique and spice-rich Indonesian
