O n Monday, August 26th, Sun Sun Restaurant held its

6th annual appreciation BBQ luncheon for custom-
ers and friends. Sun Sun owners, Maggie and Gordon Lin,
started holding these free appreciation lunches as a way
to give back to their valued customers. “We appreciate all
of our customers, friends and family and want to show

them how much they mean to us,” expressed Maggie.
There were close to 500 people who attended the
luncheon, despite the cool weather. Maggie and Gordon
plan on continuing this tradition and by the looks of the
turnout, customers look forward to the spread prepared
each year. This year’s lunch included BBQ hamburgers,
hotdogs and a varierty of their popular, delicious Chinese
menu items!

Just do it…
It’s a bit hard to believe but the end of August has
arrived! Once again we are asking ourselves where sum-

mer went as it always flies by so quickly. This, being the
last official long weekend of the summer tourist season,
is the perfect time to get out one last time to enjoy those
summer attractions you love so much. Maybe there is an
attraction you have been meaning to visit all summer but
haven’t had a chance to – this Labour Day weekend is the
time to do it!

Don’t ignore them…

Finally, Monday morning work began on the Main
Street re-paving project. No parking signs went up all
along the east side of Main Street last Friday and caused
some frustration with some local business owners.
During this much needed road construction, I ask that
customers be patient and continue to patronize the lo-
cal businesses along the construction route. Although
you may not be able to park right outside their door for
a while, don’t let that deter you from supporting those
businesses. Remember, when you shop in the city or
large shopping malls, very seldom do you get to park
close to the businesses entrance. Besides, walking a few
extra steps is good for your health!

Lake Weed
Growth Visible
From Above
By KAREN MITCHELL

A erial views of Minnedosa Lake taken on

Monday, August 19th. The excess of weeds
can be seen throughout the entire north side,
along the west side where the residential docks
are located and rapidly spreading throughout
the entire lake.
The Friends of Lake Minnedosa group has
recently circulated a petition through local busi-
nesses looking for support to have the Province
of Manitoba and Town of Minendosa develop a
plan to address the issue of silt and weed/algae
growth.
Hopefully, the 40.5 mm (1.59 inches) of
rainfall recently received will help start to move
some water down the river, reducing some stag-
nant water.
