INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN IN SCIENCE 5

Module 1 (5Es Approach)

Grade Level Five (5) Date:___________

Quarter Second Quarter Allotted Time: 50 minutes

Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of how the parts of the
human reproductive system work
Performance Standard The Learners should be able to practice proper hygiene to care of
the reproductive system
Learning Competency The learners should be able to describe the different parts of the
reproductive system and their function (S5LT-IIa-1)

I.Learning Objective 1. Identify the different parts of the female reproductive system(K)
2. Describe the main parts of the female reproductive system(U)
II. Subject Matter Parts of the Female Reproductive System
A. Concept Parts of the Female Reproductive System
1. Ovary-small oval-shaped organs at either side of the
uterus just above the pelvic bone
- it is the main reproductive organ of the female
2. Fallopian Tube (Oviduct)-a pair of funnel-shape tubes
which is ciliated at the end stretching from the ovary to the
uterus.
3. Uterus(womb)- a hollow pear-shape organ with muscular
wall and lining about the size of your fist
-. It lies behind the bladder on the lower part of the
abdomen
4. Cervix(Neck of the Uterus)- is a narrow outer end of the
uterus
5. Vagina(Birth Canal)- a hollow, muscular tube that extends
from the cervix to the vaginal opening
6. Vulva - is the area around the opening of the female
urinary and reproductive system. It consist of folds of
tissue (labia)
7. Materials Unlabelled Illustration of the female reproductive system
Metacards, Chart, Task Sheet
8. References Sarte, Evelyn T. et.al. Vibal Group, Inc., Science Beyond
Boarders 5, (2016) pp. 44-49
DepEd (2013), K-12 Science 5 Curriculum Guide
9. Process Skills Observing, Communicating , inferring
10. Value Cooperation, Awareness of the importance of the female
Integration reproductive system

III. Learning Tasks

A. ENGAGE  Lead the class with an action song entitled “Every Single
Cell”
 Recall:
Parts and function of the male reproductive system
Call volunteers to pick up strips of cartolina where
functions are written. Have them tag it on the correct part
Parts of the Male Function of Each part
Reproductive System
Penis
Urethra
Prostate Gland
Seminal Vesicle
Vas Deferens
Epididymis
Testes
Scrotum
Cowper’s Gland

 Motivation: (Picture Analysis)

Show picture of the human egg cell to the class

- Have the pupils describe

- (The teacher will provide additional info about
the picture)
- Tell pupils that this is the reproductive cell of the
female
What organ do you think is responsible of
producing egg cells?
 Building Vocabulary:
Pronunciation Drill
(The teacher will flash the cards where the following
words are written. The teacher will say the words first
followed by the teacher in order to build their fluency in
pronouncing the terms correctly)
Ovary
Fallopian Tubes or Oviduct
Uterus
Endometrium
Cervix
Vagina
Vulva
(Process Skills: Observing, communicating, inferring)

B. EXPLORE  Present the unlabelled parts of the Female Reproductive

System
 Do you like to find out what are the parts of the Female
Reproductive System?
Parts of the Female Reproductive System

 Pre- Activity
Giving of Instructions
 Divide the class into five
 Set standards for group activity
1. Cooperate with work group
2. Share useful Ideas
3. Follow instructions very well
4. Work harmoniously
5. Be conscious of the time
 Activity Proper Group task
Guide Questions
1. What are the parts of the Female Reproductive
System?
2. How does each part of the female reproductive
system look like? Describe
Distribute jumbled letters of the following parts of
the female reproductive system to each group
- Have them arrange the letters to form words that
identifies the parts of the female reproductive
system with the description written on the strips
of cartolina as a clue to what word that they’re
going to form
Group 1- a hollow, muscular tube that extends from the cervix to
the vaginal opening -
(A G V A I N)- Vagina
Group 2 - - small oval-shaped organs at either side of the uterus
just above the pelvic bone
(AR O Y V)- Ovary
Group 3 - a hollow pear-shape organ with muscular wall and
lining about the size of your fist
It lies behind the bladder on the lower part of the abdomen
(S U E T U R)- Uterus
Group 4- a pair of funnel-shape tubes which is ciliated at the end
stretching from the ovary to the uterus
(LOPILAFAN UBTE)-Fallopian Tube
Group 5 -(Neck of the Uterus)- is a narrow outer end of the uterus
(VIXCER ) –Cervix
(Process Skills: Observing, Inferring, Communicating)

C. EXPLAIN  Let the reporter of each group present their output

 Using the big illustration of the female reproductive system
presented at the start of the Explore part, let them label the
parts using the words that they have formed during the
activity
 Teacher will process after all outputs have presented
(Teacher will take down incorrect answers/information to be used
during the processing)
 How were you able to come up with the correct answers in
your activity?
(Emphasize Cooperation to highlight the value)

(The teacher takes the opportunity to introduce formal terms,

definitions, and explanations for concepts, processes, skills, or
behaviours

(Process Skills: Communicating,)

D. ELABORATE  Concept Formation

urinary and reproductive system. It consist of folds of tissue
(labia)
 Extension Activity
- What issues do you encounter concerning the parts
of your reproductive system especially the girls?
(Have them write the issues on their “Show-Me-
Board”, ex.
- What do you do about it?
- How important is the female reproductive system

(Emphasize Awareness of the Importance of female

Reproductive System to highlight the value)

 (Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Inferring)
