MACS3

Industry standard

More than 6,300 vessels have been equipped with our MACS3 loading
computer, representing a major market share of > 65% of the global fleet of
container ships. The software has been approved and is certified for onboard
use by all major classification societies. Our product range offers solutions
for all types of vessels. We constantly develop new features for our MACS3
loading computer system. Recently we added modules for grounding, squat,
mooring, residual strength and fuel saving by trim optimization (TROP).

What are the benefits for you?

• Ability to check conditions at a glance
• Fatal accidents and cargo losses can be avoided
• Large user (crew) base
• High degree of acceptance by crew
• Bunker savings of up to 10% per voyage
MACS3
Basic Program MACS3.net
Stability and strength calculations, covering all relevant international regulations. For all types
of vessels:
• Container • General Cargo
• Tanker • RoRo
• Bulk Carrier • Passenger

ACCORDING TO VESSEL TYPE

BELCO Container Management

BELCO Container Management enhances the MACS3 loading
computer with container management features which are easy
to use. Containers can be colored according to a variety of
criteria, e.g. by port of discharge. The longitudinal section shows
containers, tanks and visibility lines. A special check highlights all
critical criteria at a glance. It shows a 3D visualization of the ship
with all its cargo.

MIXCARGO for General Cargo

This manages all kinds of cargo: containers, trailers, single parts
and homogeneous surface cargo. Allows polygon-shaped cargo
areas. Loading is done interactively. Items can easily be rearranged.

LOADMAN for Bulk Carriers and Tankers

This helps to create safe loading and unloading sequences. The
ship’s stability and strength during the whole process, including
ballast operations, are shown in a time frame. Creates a loading/
unloading plan as required by IMO Resolution A.862 (20).
ADDITIONAL MODULES
Trim Optimization (TROP)
Module for best possible ballast distribution combining highest fuel efficiency and safety
requirements with respect to stability and strength. Replaces ballast water with more cargo intake.
Optimization procedure:
• Manual optimization
• Automatic quick ballast (without consideration of stability and strength)
• Automatic ballast optimization (with consideration of stability and strength)

DAGO for Dangerous Goods

This checks the fulfillment of the stowage and segregation requirements imposed by the latest
amendment to the IMDG Code:
• Multiple dangerous goods per cargo unit
• Segregation checks, based on UN Number
• Fire-fighting and safety plans
• Medical First Aid Guide (MFAG)

Sealash
Sealash including Lash Optimization lashes containers properly. Forces are calculated according to
DNV GL, BV, ABS and LR. It generates various reports, e.g. inventory list, lash forces by bay, stack
and tier. Lashings can automatically be applied according to the Cargo Securing Manual.

Crane Operation
This simulates the handling of onboard cranes. It helps to plan the loading / unloading of containers
and heavy items, and then to safely execute the operation.

Tank Online
This transfers tank fill levels into MACS3. It is available for all major onboard measurement systems,
connecting to over 25 different manufacturers.
