Question 1
Engineering is endeavor that create,develops,maintains and applies technology
for societies needs and desires.An Engineer should study the moral decision that must
be made.They should train themselves to analyze complex problems and learn to
resolve these problems in the most ethical way.They should distinguish common
morality,personal ethics and professional ethics when doing their job.When they are
in a professional relationship,their professional ethics is supposed to take precedence
over personal ethics.Engineers do not choose engineering as a career in order to
prevent disasters and avoid professional misconduct.They are engineering students
attracted by the prospect of making a difference in the world
Morals is a principles or habits with respect to right or wrong conduct.While
morals also prescribe the do’s and don’ts,morality is ultimately a personal compass of
right and wrong.As an engineer,whenever we are facing dilemmas about ethical issues
that we face,we must refer to code of ethics which can act as a guide to solve our
dilemmas/problems.
There are three types of moral and ethics which is personal ethics,common
morality and professional ethics.Personal Ethics is defined by set of one’s own ethical
commitment.Meanwhile,common morality is defined by set of moral standards shared
by most members of a culture/society.Professional ethics is set of standards
encompassed personal and corporate standards of behaviour expected by
professionals.The three characteristics of professional ethics is first it is stated in
formal code.Next characteristic is to focus on important issues in that profession and
lastly take precedence over personal ethics

Being responsible is crucial for an engineer.A good engineer must have a great
necessity of ethical responsibility,they should take care 8 important responsibilities
when they are doing their job.One of the main responsibilities is to serve and protect
the public,their job is to serve vulnerable public health,safety and welfare.They
should consider the public’s safety from being injured/expose from their
design/project.Second responsibilities is they should provide guidance.The third
responsibilities is they should offer inspiration which mean they should voice how
an engineer is committed to responsible code of conduct and by doing that they can
inspire individuals with same aspirations.They fourth responsibilities is they can
establish shared standard to provide fair playing field to compete for clients.The
next responsibilities is they need to support responsible professionals which mean
they need to give positive support to professionals seeking to act ethically.The sixth
responsibilities is they can contribute their knowledge to education so they can
encourage shared understanding among professionals.public and government.The
next responsibilities is they can deter wrongdoing which mean they need to get at the
truth about given charge without violating personal rights of those being
investigated.The last responsibility is to strengthen a profession’s image,which
mean they need to present positive image to public of an ethically committed
profession.Engineers also need to take care of environmental responsibilities,quality
of their design and communication to the clients
