CHILI COOK-OFF COMPETITION RULES:


START TIME: Competition starts at 5:00 P.M. Fully prepared chili should be located at the staging area no later than
4:45 P.M. for judging to begin.

ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is $5.00 and must be paid upon submission of this Entry Form.

PREPARATION: Contestants must prepare a minimum of two (2) gallons of chili for the event.

LOCATION: The staging area for the chili cook-off will be determined and provided to contestants prior to the event.
Power will be provided by the Town for crock pots and cooking tools.

JUDGING: “PEOPLE’S CHOICE.” (PC). Judging will be done by the public and by individual vote of the chili tasters. The
event designated “Chief Judge” will review votes and determine the winner. Sample cups and spoons will be
provided. The PC chili that receives the highest number of votes by the public will win. The manner of voting as well
as prize structure is to be determined by number of entries.

PRIZES: Top Prize: $50. Second Place: $35.00. Third Place: $20.00. Photos of the winners will be shared on Social
Media and on the Halloweentown Web Site. If you represent a business, a link will be provided to that business
website.

TYPES: There are two main types of chili as follows. There are no categories for the competition, but contestants
may prepare their best Homestyle Chili or Veggie Chili!
 Homestyle Chili - Homestyle Chili is any kind of meat, or combination of meats, and/or vegetables cooked
with beans, chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients. Homestyle chili may be any color. Beans are
required. Preference is not given to either cut meat, ground meat, shredded meat or cubed meat. Seafood is
allowed.
 Veggie Chili - Veggie Chili is any kind of vegetable, or combination of vegetables, cooked with chili peppers,
various spices and other ingredients. The use of meat and/or any meat by-product is not allowed. The use of
soy and meatless “meat” substitutes is allowed. Veggie Chili can be any color.

SAFETY:
1. All food - whether stored, resting or cooking - must always be maintained at food-safe temperatures. Food
temperatures are subject to inspection at any time by ICS representatives or local/state officials.
2. All food handling, preparation and serving must comply with all local and state guidelines, policies and rules.
3. All food must remain covered.
