Language Arts
u The word rule rhymes with many words.
With students, make a list on chart paper
of words that rhyme with rule, for example,
cool, fool, drool, mule, tool, spool, stool, and
school. Invite students to write a silly rhyme
using the words. Offer a rhyme of your own
as an example, such as I once saw a mule / that
sat on a stool.
Physical Education
u Get students moving with a game of “Follow
the Leader.” Have students vote on a leader
by raising their hands. Students will line up
behind their chosen leader. The leader will
lead students on a walk around the classroom
or playground doing different movements
such as hopping, reaching up high, or going
over or under things. Before playing, you
may need to set some rules so that students
