Companies for Good is an online marketplace for sustainable team activities.

The platform enables businesses to do good – on demand. It works by connecting
businesses with charity partners who run activities in their area of expertise. Every activity is
specially designed to help businesses do real, useful good, while collaborating and bonding
as a team.
The company is based in Dubai and operates across the UAE. In 2018, they expanded to
Catalonia and Spain.
The company also has a consultancy offer – ‘CFG sustainability solutions’ – that provides
businesses with strategic guidance on how to become more sustainable.
Companies for Good is a leader in the ‘good’ space – an emerging industry that’s focused
on solving societal and environmental issues.

History
The company was founded by Catalan, Marc Ruiviejo Cirera, who came up with the idea
after working as a consultant in employee engagement and sustainability.
Cirera had become increasingly frustrated that businesses had the power, money and
people to solve multiple, huge, environmental and societal issues, but standard CSR and
sustainability work focused on making the companies look good, rather than making a
genuine difference. After moving to Dubai with his wife Laura, Cirera launched the business
from his bedroom, bringing partners Jaime and Emily on board to help.
He started by building a network of charity partners who were doing important, useful work in
the UAE, but lacked resources. Using his knowledge of employee engagement and
sustainability, he worked with the charities to design a range of activities that would be fun
for businesses to do as a team, but also made a genuine difference. Then built a website to
showcase the activities and enable businesses to book.
In 2018, he was approached by two fellow Catalans about opening a branch of the company
in Catalonia and Spain.

Team activities
Companies for Good offers a huge range of team activities that enables businesses to do
good in a way that aligns with their strategic goals. Businesses can book activities on a one-
off ad hoc basis, or sign up to get a package of solutions – multiple activities on an annual
basis – that carries a discount.

Broadly, activities fall into two categories: doing good for the planet, doing good for society.

Doing good for the planet

Activities include:
 Kayaking through mangroves to clear litter
 Going on a scuba adventure to clear plastic waste from the ocean
 Planting trees
 Making robots from recycled items
 Learning how to cook sustainably
 Going on a trip to Masdar – a sustainable city
 Doing a beach clean-up to clear the cost of trash and keep it out of the ocean

Doing good for society

Activities include:
 Making toys for refugee children
 Making wigs for kids with cancer
 Donating food to Dubai’s blue collar workers during Ramadan
 Taking children with determination/special needs to animal therapy
  Taking children with autism on days out to help them build confidence
 Helping young people from low-income backgrounds build leadership skills

CFG sustainable solutions

Using his experience as a sustainability and employee engagement consultant, Cirera
established a consultancy offer that sits alongside the company’s larger team activities offer.
Businesses can get strategic advice and workshops that help them become more
sustainable organisations. Consultancy is delivered by Cirera, as well as a network of
experts he established who deal with different specialisms.
