III. INTRODUCTION

I love to play the guitar, but I am not determined enough to spend

grueling hours and hours of practice to make me better. That’s why I remain as
an average guitar player until now. I don’t have passion for it. Passion fuels
your desire especially in hard times because the only thing that matters is
becoming better. This article reminded me why learners need to have educators
that are passionate about what they are teaching. Why? It inspires students.
These passionate teachers ignite their interests and make them more excited
about what they are learning. Passion drives students to study more and with
eagerness. I myself love a teacher with passion. A teacher that will open my
close mind or fly me somewhere in my imagination with his/her words of
wisdom. A lot of our educators today are teaching without love. One cannot
pretend that you love something that you do not. The truth is, a lot of teachers
are forced to teach subjects that they do not have interest about. Some,
through years of teaching that subject, lost his/her commitment and dedication
in teaching. I know, as we move closer and closer in becoming future educators,
we will know how important commitment and dedication in the teaching
profession.
IV. BODY

What struck me the most is the line of Garrisson and Liston that states:
Passionate teachers have a profound love for teaching. “Perhaps they are in love
with every aspect of teaching”. Isn’t that nice? Being “in love in every aspect of
teaching” for me means all the features of a great teacher rolled into one.
“Being in love in every aspect of teaching” for me is giving your heart for this
profession. Giving all your heart in teaching is not a joke, when you give your
heart that means you give your all to your students. With what was stated, I
then realized that being a teacher is rewarding. It is rewarding in the sense
that this profession has a purpose. Teachers have the opportunity to touch the
lives of their students and contribute in forming their bright and productive
future. Teaching profession is vital because they are one of the societies guiding
forces that transform our youth into citizens that will take care of this world
when we are long gone. The satisfying feeling of preserving and passing the
torch of knowledge by igniting the same fire of passion within the young
learner’s mind is an experience you will cherish forever as an educator. In our
world today where obstacles are always present at every turn and in spite all
these negativities that the society throw at these young minds, a teacher brings
wisdom and knowledge by accepting this challenge of educating them. That
itself makes the job of a teacher rewarding.
V. MY STAND: PERSPECTIVE

Commitment and Dedication is required in becoming an effective future

educator. He/she needs to commit his/herself not only to the learners, but also
to his/her profession. This means following the rules, the regulations, the
requirements, and living the principles of the teaching profession by heart. In
my opinion, I completely agree to the author Çağrı Tuğrul Mart. What I like
about the article is that it’s short and its direct to the important points thus
making more impact to me personally who is dreaming to become an effective
teacher in the coming years. Honestly speaking, the article made me realize how
big the responsibility is of becoming a teacher. One responsibility is accepting
the reality that apart from being an educator, you are a lifelong learner. That as
long as you are in this profession, learning will continue. This career means
that you will always be learning. New standards, new technologies, teaching
techniques, and styles keep on evolving. Instead of detaching yourself from
these changes, accept them. Look at the situation in another angle. Arm
yourself with a learning plan that suits who you are as a person and as a
teacher. You are not obliged to learn everything in one snap of a finger – take
your time, breathe and just enjoy every learning moment. With this, your
passion for teaching will not cease. Dedicated and committed teachers are great
teachers. They have these characteristics that contribute to this greatness and
all of these come from their passion for teaching.
