PCDEB holds Regional Business Students’ Summit at

Angeles University Foundation

Last Sept. 27, 2018, the Philippine Council of Deans and Educators in Business (PCDEB) in
coordination with Angeles University Foundation (AUF)organized a Regional Business Students’
Summit at Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center . The summit with the
theme “Building Business Leaders through Virtual Enterprise and Mobility” was attended by
business students and Educators from different schools and universities in Region 3.

The summit’s objective was to update the students on the recent progress in the business
arena that will help them maximize not only local but international opportunities. At the same
time, the summit was geared in prompting the students about effective concepts that will keep
them truly moving within the business mainstream. PCDEB’s Executive Director – Dr. Amado L.
Magsino, Voice Master of the Philippines – Mr. Pocholo De Leon Gonzales, CEO of AIB Training,
Events and Consultancy – Mr. Al Ian Barcelona were the resource persons.

The Dean of the AUF College of Business and Accountancy -Dr. Chere C. Yturralde gave the
opening remarks and PCDEB President – Dr. Victor F. David shared the statement of objectives.
Dr. Amado Magsino discussed the concept of Quality Students Mobility. He introduced the
Passage to ASEAN (P2A) program which can offer bigger opportunities for business students
allowing them to be part of a greater economic community, particularly with ASEAN countries.
He also pointed out that to be globally competitive, one should have the character of being
SMART (Sensible, Mentally Alert, Articulate, Responsive and Time Conscious). He also advised
the students to think Local, act ASEAN and act Global.”

Mr. Pocholo De Leon Gonzales started his talk by sharing his own journey in being successful.
He said that passion should always be an element in everything you do. He made emphasis to it
by sharing the 12 entrepreneurial mindset that business people should possess to be
successful. He said that apart from profit, the business should be of interest to the owners. He
also advised the students not to be afraid to fail. Furthermore, he mentioned that one should
focus on a single goal for one particular period of time. Moreover, he shared that having a
mentor is important to help them during the journey and that one should learn from every
outcome of their decisions.. According to him, students should dream big but start small and
never to be in a hurry. He emphasized to learn how to prioritize things and always have faith
that one can be successful. However, at times, things may not be perfect but what is important
is that it was done in one’s best ability. He also advised the audience to avoid negative people
and continue to be open to new knowledge and skills.

Mr Al Ian Barcelona with his advocacy to “live awesome” shared the 4 Ps in becoming
successful Entrepreneurs namely passion, purpose, plan and persist. His discussion was focused
on reminding the students to strive hard in achieving their dreams in the entrepreneurial world.
He further shared that for Entrepreneurs, it should always be like morning with sunrise that
puts hope in every single day. Thoughts about studies, career and family life were also
discussed.

Other PCDEB officials present during the summit were PCDEB Secretary – Dr. Yuri Walter D.
Akiate , PCDEB Directors, Dr. Ramon Woo Jr. and Dr. Manuelita G. Valencia . The Management
and Entrepreneurship students under the Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES) was in charge of
the program headed by President Ina Kristine C. Reyes. The program was hosted by Ms. Angela
Maria Robson and Mr.Joshua Trinidad.
