Rationale
From the first 12 units of this course I have learnt a variety of different skills
that I have been able to implement into some projects that I have completed
over the past year. In the first 12 units I was asked to make a 4 Documentaries,
1 Podcast, 2 Live Shows and 1 Radio Show. Throughout all of these projects I
have been given the chance to showcase my skills that I have developed and
learnt on this course. These skills have really helped me when I came to
making these projects as I was already taught the skills and technique I just
had to implement them into my pieces. My podcast skills that I learnt like
making a jingle and being able to develop my voice for radio will help me
massively when I come to do my radio piece for this unit. Also when it comes
to completing my online piece for this unit I will be able to use my interview
skills and techniques that I have developed from my final major project last
year which were done to my best ability. Before I started the course I didn’t
know anything about setting up for an interview and knowing how to frame it
whilst making sure that the sound quality is good also having a good place to
do the interview which is relevant to what we are talking about.

Project Concept
For this project I have been given three choices of what we would like to do
and we were told to choose two out of the three and we decided to choose to
make a Radio programme which is hard hitting and it must be a topic were we
can investigate the truth with it being relatable to students and it must also
involve an interview with an expert about the topic. With these requirements
we began thinking about what we could do the radio programme about,
together we thought of three ideas for radio and we came to conclusion that
we will be doing it on the impacts the sport has on teenagers and young
adults and the side effects that it can have on us mentally and physically. We
will be doing this in a podcast style as we felt that it would be the best way to
have an engaging programme that you could listen to and relate to it and also
enjoy it and by the end of it feel like you’ve got something out of it meaning
that you have learnt something new. Throughout the production process I will
be following a production schedule to ensure that I am organised at all times
ensuring I am at the right places at the right times.

The other option that we chose was online, we decided to choose this because
we thought that this would be a great way to showcase my skills that I have
learnt when it comes to setting up and interview making sure it sounds and
looks professional. We started off by looking at recent news articles that were
related to teenagers and there was a lot of news about knife crime however
we came across one which really stuck out and it was an article about the
effects that social media is having on the youth and what it is doing to them
mentally. We chose this topic as it will be interesting to investigate further and
try and find the truth whether social media is one of the main causes of mental
health issues across the country. This is very relatable to our target audience
which is 16-22 year olds because these are the ages that people are most
using social media pages.

Evaluation
Throughout the unit I will be receiving feedback from my teachers about my
work and how I can improve in order to get a better grade. Also another way
that my work will be evaluated is through my peers, other students in my class
will be able to look at my work and help me improve. Something else that I
will be completing to evaluate my work is weekly blogs, these will involve
myself talking about what I have done during the week and helping improve
my understanding of what I have learnt during that week and what I need to
do outside of lessons to stay on track. Working with another person will help
in a positive way for our podcast as we will be able to create more of a group
discussion with different opinions and obviously different voices which makes
it more interesting for the listener.
