Children of all ages will love this
toy, and when well made it will last
several generations. Only hand
tools are required, although power
tools will permit ‘mass-produc-
tion” of the coupe if you wish to
make a number for gifts.
Pine or other straight-grained,
softwood is best. Cut all the pieces
to size and shape, then start assem-
bly by. gluing together the three
pieces (3) that form the trunk
Next, glue the dash panel (4) to
the hood and radiator (1, 2) and the
seat back (8) to the trunk. Glue the
seat blocks together (8, 7) and to
the seat back. Install the steering-
wheel post and steering wheel
Glue trunk and sect assembly to
the chassis (8), then attach the
doors with glue-soaked strips of
denim, fitting pieces of waxed
paper or aluminum foil between the
folds to prevent them adhering. to-
gether. When the glue is dry, pivot
the doors to loosen the hinges, then
assemble the rest of the car.
