ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to check the impact of
technological advancement on employee performance in Trichur urban
cooperative bank ltd. This study also concerned with the role of
information technology in cooperative bank.

METHODOLOGY: The study is designed as descriptive one based


on both primary and secondary data. The study is mainly based on
primary data collected from Trichur urban cooperative bank ltd by
questionnaire. The tool used for analysis is simple mathematical tool
and statistical tool like percentage and average for data analysis.

FINDINGS: Total of 50 questionnaires has been distributed to the


employees in Trichur urban cooperative bank ltd. After analyzing the
data very efficiently, we find the technological advancement has
significant impact on employees performance, banking automation has
made the work easier and helps to save time. And suggested to give
proper training to make employee relevant to the automated banking
environment.

RESEARCH LIMITATION: The study is limited to only Trichur


urban cooperative bank ltd.

In this modern world rapid high technology changes,
technological advancement will continue to accelerate the future.
Technological advancement changes the banking policies and
strategies. In any organization, most of challenge is generated by
competition, advancement technology, enhancing employee efficiency
and rapid growth. More over organizations purchase the advance
technological tools for improving the employee performance,
facilitated job task, improved communication, increased efficiencies
and high levels of effectiveness in work management. The introduction
of advance technology has changes the way of performing job.
Technological advancement improved the employee performance as
well as the employee working effort and task completion time.

New technology is not only essential for company or


government, it is also important for nation. Companies cannot run with
old technologies. Technology increases human performance when
human or employee use technology for the benefit of organization and
with ethical value. Individual person cannot adopt technology easily
and on the other side group of people can adopt technology easily.
Computer is greatest innovation. It is useful only in that case when
employees use it for their work. New technology can used for both
purpose for break or for make purpose. Employee work load reduces
through technology advancement. Number of employees to perform
one task is also reduced. Banks requires not much for employee to
perform one job. Human effort is also reduced through technological
advancement. Single employee can perform its job without hurdle.
Human resource management use the advance technologies equipment
to check and evaluate the employees output or performance current
technology trends that will impact human resource are outsourcing,

advances in technology, and continue focus on measuring the value
that human resource bring to organization.

Technology has modified the traditional concept of banking from


merely accepting deposits and advancing loans. Today’s banks are
providing much more to their customers; they are more customers
focused. Technologies can only lead to increased productivity or
improve performance when combined with other resources effectively
by human resources or when done effectively, and use technology
productively and ethically. Advancement makes employees more
effective and firm more efficient. Technological advancement can
improve firm performance as well. Employee can more rapidly acquire
new knowledge and further advancement competencies through
training. Motivation of the employee has direct influence on
technological advancement. Employee’s performance is closely linked
with technological advancement. It can be managed effectively through
employees.

Resource-based theory suggests that a firm’s resources are


extremely important for the firm’s development, and that human
capital is a key resource of a firm. The function of this resource
depends on the employees’ ability and enthusiasm, and on efficient
human resource management. Technological advancement is important
factor for influencing the improvement of performance. Most of
studies have repeatedly shown a positive relationship between a firm’s
technological advancement and performance, and concluded that
technological advancement is important for employee performance

Training must exist in every organization; training corrects


deficiencies known as the time of employee appointment and enables

employees to face arising advancement challenges as well. Training
not only motivate to employees but also working as a catalyst to doing
any new task at work place.

The employee training allows employee to use the new skills.


Firm’s employee with more advancement knowledge is important
resources of the firms and they are continually attained new knowledge
and skill for development of new technology. Training can improve the
employee knowledge, competencies of advancement. Advancement
involves the production of new ideas and that ideas can be
implemented to solve some significant novel problem. Training results,
employees can more rapidly acquire new knowledge, and can increase
their advancement ability. Moreover, the people who have broad
expertise and knowledge may produce more technological
advancement. Technologies advancement to change the work nature
and work task as well so employee requiring new knowledge and skill
to doing the new task effectively. Training is one of effective strategy
to give the new knowledge and skill to employee to doing a job
effectively. Most recent studies shows that organization face two factor
one is old age workforce second is increasing introduced a new
technologies, so training is very important for further new technology
introduction as well, such as web-based operation, computerized
intelligent systems, and other task technologies. Training helps to
overcome gaps between employees and senior level management. It
enables employee to participate in decision making and provide active
output in decision making. Employee coordination with peer,
subordinates and with its senior officers increases after training. These
types of steps create better image in front of those think tanks who are
working for value maximization of organization. Most important for

the organization employees performance increases after training. These
organizations are more concerned about their employees. These types
of organizations launch different type of training programs for value
creation into their employees. Global organizations train their
employees in aspect of working field. Training not only develop
employees mental ability but also after training employees can take
benefit physically such as active participation in decision making can
release it mental disturbance. Employees who take regular training
programs are easily accepting changes in organization. Whenever
organization launch innovative programs they resistance from those
employees who do not attend regular training programs. Trained
employees help organization to reduce training cost of other
employees. Because when one employee is full trained, he will be
capable to train other untrained employees in the organization.
Training helps the employees to achieve different task of the
organization and vice versa. Training is systematic approach of
behaviours that enables employees to change their behaviours
according to the norms and values of the organization. Training is used
to fill gap between current performance and desired performance after
training. Training can be given through different methods such as
coaching and mentoring, cooperation between peers. These team works
encourage employees to work more for organization. Training is not
only useful for employees but it also valuable for organization. It
develops competitive edge for organization in the market. Training
develops in the employee’s self-efficacy which is helpful for superior
performance.

Trichur Urban Cooperative Bank plays a prominent role in the local


banking activities. The bank’s annual reports shows increase in
deposits, lending, and share capital. Considering deposits, higher rates
of interest are given. Shareholders are very much satisfied with overall
performance of the bank. The procedure foe taking loan is very simple.
So there is very much possibility for getting loans to every
applications. All customers are given adequate consideration. Loans
are given comparatively lesser rates.

Christian cooperative bank – name changed as Trichur urban
cooperative bank ltd in the year of 1953.

What We Do

The bank offers various services that a financial institution gives.


To the conventional services of Advances, Deposits, DD, Bills /
cheque Collection, CTS cleaning, Locker Facility, Evening
Banking Branches, etc.

Our Facilities

SAFE DEPOSIT LOCKER

Bank will provide safe deposit locker facilities for its customers.
Using locker facility customers can keep their valuable things
safely. Three types of lockers are available i.e. small, medium, and
large. Rent is charged annually. At the time of opening locker
account, an initial sum to be deposited with bank as security
deposit. Interest will be given by Bank on security deposits.
Nomination facility is available for Safe Deposit Locker.

RTGS / NEFT

Customer can make transfer payment from our bank account to


another bank anywhere in India using RTGS / NEFT facility. Bank
shall charge commission on the basis of amount transferred.
Customer can transfer fund to his / her account (SB, CD, OD, RD,

and Loan which is maintained in our bank) through RTGS / NEFT.
For RTGS / NEFT transaction with us IFSC Code:
HDFC0CTR384 (5th Digit read as Zero).

DEMAND DRAFT

Using Demand Draft, customer can make transfer payment from


one bank account to another. Bank shall be charged commission on
the basis of DD amount. Demand draft can be cancelled by the
purchaser by submitting letter along with original DD to concerned
Branch Manager. The bank will deduct cancellation charges from
the DD amount.

PAN CARD

Customers can submit filled application from throughout all


branches for obtaining PAN CARD. Service charge is applicable.
Self-attested copy of proof of address, proof of identity, proof of
date of birth and two copies of the passport size photograph also to
be submitted along with application form.

NOMINATION

Nomination facility is available on all types of deposit account


opened by the individual customers of the bank. Depositors have
the right to charge the nominee at any time by giving letter to bank.

MEMBERSHIP

To become a member, you have to submit application form along


with two passport size photo, copy of voters identity card or
ADHAR, PAN card ( anyone document towards proof of identity

and proof of address) must be submitted to our Head Office.
Opening form will be available from our Head Office.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Technology has been one of the most important factors for the
development of mankind. Information and communication technology
is major advert in the field of technology which is used for access,
process, storage and dissemination of information electronically.
Therefore technology has been experienced in the world for banks and
they are currently taking advantages of be innovation to provide better
improved customer and more efficient services that will enhance
productivity. This project will therefore find out the role or impact
which adoption of it has bad on the banks.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

1. The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of


technological advancement on employee performance in
banking sector.

2. To access the roll of information technology in Trichur urban


cooperative bank ltd.

3. To access the perception of the bank employees toward the


implementation of the information technology in Trichur urban
cooperative bank ltd.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

This study is concerned to check the Impact of the technological


advancement on employee performance in Trichur urban cooperative
bank ltd. This study also concerned with the role of information
technology in cooperative bank.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

In the banking sector, financial institution use computer in their


day to day operation in order to provide of quality of service to their
customers via the use of modern technology. Information technology
has also improved the customer’s knowledge about the use of
computer and other gadget through which customers of bank can
access their bank account and make other payments any were in the
world.

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

Research design:

The study is designed as descriptive one based on both primary and

The study is mainly based on primary data collected from Trichur

Sample design:

The present study was focused in Trichur urban cooperative bank ltd.

MEASURMENT

The present study use five points like Likert scale which anchors
at strongly agrees 5, agree 4, no option 3, disagree 2, strongly disagree

The study is used convenient sampling techniques and selected 50


employees in the Trichur urban cooperative bank.

FIELD STUDY AND QUESTIONNAIRES

The present study used percentage analysis and descriptive


analysis to evaluate the attitude of employee performance towards
technological advancement in banking sector.

TOOLS USED FOR ANALYSIS

The study uses simple mathematical tool and statistical tools like
percentage and average for data analysis.

LIMITATIONS

Research is always subject to inherent limitations. Following are


the limitation of the study,

 The respondents were reluctant to disclose their details.

 The study is limited to only one bank.

 The study has limitation of time.

 Primary sources of data are used here; it may not be reliable as


desired.

SCHEME OF THE STUDY

The study is set out of five chapters. The first chapter contains a
description of introduction, statement, objectives, scope, significance,
research methodology adopted and limitation of the study. The second
chapter presents a review of literature of impact of technological

advancement in banking sector. The chapter three provides the profile
of the Trichur urban cooperative bank ltd. The forth chapter includes
data analysis and interpretation. Chapter five is the concluding chapter
of the study. It draws on the major findings and concludes within a few
suggestions.
