1(a) TEST OF "g" CULTURE FAIR- SCALE 2, FORM A

Prepared by R.B. Cattell and A.K.S. Cattell:

DESCRIPTION OF THE SUB-TESTS:
Scale 2 and 3 consist of four subtests each. (Fig. 30) provides an example
of each type of items.

In the first sub test, the individual is presented with an

incomplete, progressiveserjes. His task is to select, from among the

choices provided, the answer which best continues the series. In the
example given in (Fig . 30 a), the bar becomes progressively longer and so
the appropriate answer is choice 1.
The classification subtest ( Fig. 30 b) differs slightly between
scale 2 and 3. The individual is presented with five figures. In scale 2, as
in the example shown, he must select one which is different from the
other four.
In the matries subtest ( Fig. 30 c) the task is to correctly
complete the design or matrix presented at the left of each row.
The final subtest, (conditions or topology), requires the
individual to select, from the five choices provided, the one which
duplicates, the conditions given in the far left box. In the sample item
shown in (Fig. 30 d), for example the individual must select the figure in
which it is possible to place a dot that would lie outside the box but inside
the circle. Only choice 3 meets there requirements and is therefore the
correct answer.
Before each subtest, examples are given so that the task
requirements are clear to the examinee.

Real the followin g paragrap a d aiswr th qn;tion given below by a () mark:

Once there lived a middle aged gentleman in a village in La Mancha, a district 'in
the south of Spain. Owing to his sober habits and his frequent exercise in the open air,
his health was good. He passed his time in reading books on knight - errantry and romances
of the doings of valiant men of old. He made up his mind that he too would become a
knight - errant. First of all, he selected a suit of armour. Then he went to the stable to
visit his steed. The poor nag had more blemishes than hairs in its tail and was only skin
and bone. For four days he puzzled his brain to invent a fitting name for his steed. Finally
he decided to call it Rozinante. Sincho Panza, a very shallow - brained man, who lived in
the same village, decided to go with him and be his squire. sancho forsook his wife and
children and rode on his donkey with the knight errant.

The knight and the squire started their journey in search of adventure. As they
rode along the high road, he and his squire were overtaken by a gentleman on horse back
clad entirely in green. He was Dan Diego of Miranda. At the request of Dan Quixote, he
rode along with them conversing very pleasantly.
