Abstract
Information is regarded as vital for all industries ranging from rural handicrafts to large-
scale heavy manufacturing. Medium and large-scale industries can afford to have their own
information units. Even then, they have to depend extensively on sectoral, national and
international documentation/information centres for meeting their information needs. Of late,
many industrial associations have started establishing research and information units on
cooperative basis.
