1. Definition of Salary Increment Letter

Salary increment letter is letter that written by an employee to their employer imploring
for a raise in pay. A request for an increase in salary can be made in several ways. If one is
confident and knows they deserve it, one can make a strong case for a salary increment,
using a formal salary increment letter. The letter should be formatted and written in a
formal way as it is a professional letter. It should clearly mention the reason and the increase
the employee seeks.

A salary increment request should be addressed to the person you manages your raises
and bonuses. That may be your supervisor, manager, or the head of your department. It is
generally not a good idea to go above the person who makes salary decisions for your team.
If you don’t trust your direct manager, the letter should help keep the process professional.

2. Function of Salary Increment Letter

 This letter serves to request a salary increase to the manager or boss in a company
 Salary increment letter gives you a chance to pitch the reasons why you’re worth
more than what you’re currently getting paid, without stammering over your choice
of words.
 Making the request in writing helps ease any discomfort you or your boss might feel.
It gives your manager a chance to consider your request before he or she responds.
 This letter also provides formal documentation of your request for a pay increase.
It’s always best to have a paper trail for important business communications. Unlike
a verbal conversation, a letter requesting a pay raise documents exactly what you’ve
asked and how you’ve asked it.

Subject: Request for Increment in Salary.

Dear Sir,

In the event recent inflation of the market, I am writing this letter to ask
for a review of my current salary formally. As a Sales Manager for five years at
the Blizgton Company, I have always been ready and dutiful when asked to
take on additional work and new responsibilities. It is my belief that a review of
my track record in the company, along with my recent achievements and
industry average salary, will demonstrate the justification for an increase of a
minimum of 10% in my annual pay.

My role has evolved a lot since I started working for the Blizgton
Company. Along with my usual duties, I now also work on staff management
and project management. A 10% raise in my annual salary would put my
compensation in line with industry and regional expectations for the work along
with helping me cope with the rising price of everyday goods.

Thank you for your attention on this matter. I am willing to work with you
to accommodate my request along with what is best for the company. I am fully
open to negotiation if you have another amount in mind or a plan to increase
my salary in the future.

Sincerely,
Agus Gunawan,
