SCIENCE IV
TOPIC Animals live on land
GRADE LEVEL 4
TIME ALLOTMENT 80 minutes
DATE AND TIME September 23,2019
LEARNING COMPETENCIES
CONTENT STANDARD: animals have body parts that make them adapt to land
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: construct a prototype model of organism that has body parts which
can survive in a given environment.
LEARNING COMPETENCY: infer that body structures help animals adapt and survive in their
particular habitat. (S4LT-IIc-d-5)

Specific Objectives:

a. To identify what animals live on land,


b. To identify the different kinds of land habitat,
c. To explain why some animals live in a particular habitat (land).

ENGAGE (10 MINUTES) MATERIALS


A. Review
1. Ask: what is the parts of animals live in land  Pictures (animal)
2. Say: I am going to show a picture of animals. You have to  Manila paper
write the name of the body part of the animal.

 Ears

 Paws
 Claw
 Mouth
 Eyes

B. Motivation:
1. Students will be playing the game pass the box.
2. Teacher will cite the mechanics of the game.
a. There are different pictures inside the mystery box.
b. The pupils will pass the mystery box while there’s
music playing.
c. When the music stops, the one who is holding the
box will pick out the picture and post it on the
board where it is belong.

C. Presentation
a. I am going to show you a pictures of animals.  Power point presentation

b. Write in the table of all animals that listed in letter A and give  Manila paper
their body parts and function of each animals.

EXPLAIN (20 minutes) MATERIALS
a. Discussion  Power point presentation
b. Presentation of output.
c. The teacher will give feedbacks and recommendations.
d. Presentation of the lesson.
Ask:
a. Based on the activity that you had, can you define
what is habitat?
b. Why do animals live in certain places?
c. What do animals in the land eat?
d. If we were eliminate the foods on their habitats,
what would happen to the animals?
e. How animal’s body part helps to adapt in their
particular habitat?

ELABORATE (20 Minutes) MATERIALS


D. Application  Power point presentation
Group Activity:  Manila paper
1. Student will be divided into two (2) groups
2. Each group will re-form the jumbled letters of different
animals found grassland and forest.
3. After re-forming the jumbled letters, each group will post
their works on the board.
4. One member will be explain their works if how a
particular animal can survive in their particular habitats.

E. Generalization:
Ask:
1. Who among you can define habitat?
2. What are the two different types of land habitats?
Evaluate (10 minutes) MATERIALS

G. ASSIGNMENT:
Make a habitat box. Cut out paper animals to place in your
habitat box. Report about your habitat box and the animals
that live in it.
