Greetings from ESUMC Children’s Ministry!
Fall has official started and with the change of season comes a great
opportunity to pause and take in God’s amazing beauty. It is also a time
when we can reflect on how God has been working in our lives. As I reflect

skipping breakfast? Or, are you typically hungry for
lunch right after Church? Let the Youth make and
serve you breakfast (or brunch) this Sunday,
September 29th at 9:30AM or 11:45AM!!!
As a fundraiser for upcoming youth trips, the youth
group and several leaders are preparing breakfast for
hungry tummies and invite you to come help them
fund-raise! There’s no “set cost” for receiving this
breakfast meal, however, your financial contributions
towards their trip will be joyfully received!!!
No need to RSVP, just join us after either service on
Sunday, September 29th!!!

Yes, We’re Still Hiring for ESUMC’s
Paid Nursery Staff Position!
Here at ESUMC, we believe that our Nursery Staff
are incredibly important people that play a vital role in
our Church’s Ministry! And now that we’re hiring,
we’d love for you to consider joining out team! These
positions are all paid Sunday morning positions that
occasionally help serve at events (i.e., Small Group
meetings, Weddings, Funerals, et.c.) Responsibilities
include: caring for new infants in our church family,
teaching from detailed lesson plans (materials
provided), and helping children with crafts, games,
songs, and fun!

 College & Military Info. Update
Are you a parent of 2019 High School Graduate, a
current College Student, or an immediate family to
one of ESUMC’s deployed military personnel? If so,
this message is for YOU!!!
Twice a year, ESUMC sends out care packages for
our college kids and military personnel to remind
them that they’re thought of, prayed for and
remembered. If your child graduated this year, or your
child/spouse/etc. has transferred military bases,
please let us know! We need their FULL contact
information (address, email, cell number) to include
them in our age/outreach-specific care ministries!

one’s FULL contact information (for the remainder of

College & Military Spring Mailing
ESUMC’s College & Military Care Team is also
asking parents to request a picture of each student in
front of their school sign or school banner/or military
personnel in their uniform. This will help others in the
congregation puts names and faces together, and
create a personal connection with our students/
deployed. Additionally, if any student/military
personnel would be willing, we’d love to receive a
video (phone recording, is fine) of your loved one
sharing back to the Congregation what receiving the
college care packages means to them. Videos can be
texted to Sue Mertz at (570) 350-7990, and will
hopefully be shown in Church on Sunday, October
6th.
For the packages please donate: snack or protein
bars, candy, mints, gum, post it notes, etc. As a
reminder, collections will run 10/6-10/27, and then on
11/3, immediately after the 10:45 service, we will be
packing the boxes. Donations for mailing costs are
also greatly appreciated. Please contact Sue Mertz
with any questions/for more information!
O.K.’s Fall Foliage & Hot Dog Roast
At Pocono Plateau
On Wednesday, October 3rd, ESUMC’s Older Kids
(55+) and friends will make a fall foliage seeing trip up
to Pocono Plateau Camp & Retreat Center!! Roasted
hot dogs and beverages will be provided by Pocono
Plateau, but please bring "finger foods" to share (i.e.,
chips, fruit, cookies). As there is no charge for
Pocono Plateau’s facility, a “thank you” donation will
be collected. Please be sure to bring a few bucks to
thank them for their hospitality!
Finally, please RSVP to Erma Powell by Tuesday,
October 1st, at (570) 421-1422 with a headcount for
you and your friends, as well as their preferred
number of hot dogs! The O.K.’s group will depart from
ESUMC at 10:00am. Those intending to travel with
the group should arrive by 9:45am.

Meal Pack for Haiti
In America, when we think of hunger, we’re probably
thinking about a meal we snacked around of skipped.
Though there are many that are financially limited
here in the states, there are many more that battle
malnutrition and even starvation, on a daily basis
overseas. Lifeline Christian Mission is here to help,
and we can too! Save these dates: 11/08 and 11/09
