GRAPHIC DESIGN

Dear Sara Crotty:

I am writing to apply to your Indeed.com listing of a Graphic Artist / Production
Assistant position at Gettysburg Flag Works in East Greenbush. I believe that my
Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design as well as the customer service skills I gained
through freelancing and creating a client base at SUNY Cobleskill would make me
an asset to the company.
While completing my Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design Technology, I became
proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator and Photoshop. Because I
completed work in both a PC household and SUNY Cobleskill’s Mac classrooms for
this degree, I have the ability to use both platforms. As SUNY Cobleskill’s Design
Intern and Assistant, I worked in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environment
for 16 months, updating time-sensitive information on the university website and
designing print collateral for event invitees and alumni. Also, as a result of working
directly under SUNY Cobleskill’s graphic designer, I efficiently build, organize, and
archive files for production.
Due to the communicative nature of freelancing and working in a team, I have
excelled at multitasking and enjoy translating feedback from clients and senior staff
into finished designs. I embrace the importance of accepting creative direction
to complete projects in a satisfactory and timely manner. Pertaining to customer
service, I founded a student-run design agency at SUNY Cobleskill, for which I
functioned as point of contact in 2016. I communicated via email with clients,
detailing our initial in-person project consultations and managing correspondence
through to completion for accurate results and customer satisfaction.
I have a keen interest in learning about flag creation and mastering manufacturing
techniques. I would sincerely welcome the introduction to graphic artwork systems
beyond those I am familiar with for the opportunity it provides me in learning
everything I can about production and design. As proven by my completion of a
four-year program as well as my work experience in several fields, I love to learn new
things and I thrive within a team environment that allows me to challenge myself.
Thank you for your consideration and time.

Respectfully,

Sarah Dancer
