DEPARTMENT OF INTERCULTURAL STUDIES ENGLISH EXTENSION III BOGOTA DC 2019 INTRODUCTION The main objective of this project is to do research and study on the country of Chile and the alternative means of transport of this. Chile is located south west of South America, is a unitary State with its central government located in the capital, Santiago, in Central and Mediterranean Metropolitan Region. The rest of the territory is divided into 14 administrative subregions, all with access to the Pacific Ocean. The following will be an order of ideas on the country's data identifying the key aspects of the impact that transport has had on the environment and mobility, which are of a political, economic and social nature, since it is of great importance not only in the cities but also in the economic activity of the country.
THREE KEY ASPECTS THAT IMPACTED THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE
MOBILITY OF THE TRANSPORT OF CHILE Transport in Chile contributes 7% to Gross Domestic Product (PIB in Spanish). In the case of the city of Santiago, on February 10, 2007 the Transantiago Plan was executed, this present a great number of failures, because before in the city the population was of medium and low resources and made use of the famous yellow Micros to be transported of home to work, and those of high resources were mobilized by car, therefore, there was an increase in the rates, so there was little the number of buses, and some were with lack of maintenance which generated the increase of the pollution, and also, by the emission of carbon dioxide due to vehicle congestion, so that also affected the greenhouse effect of the city. In recent years Chile has made important changes for the modernization of systems of transport in the country, for example, in Santiago is used as a means of payment a smartcard which passengers can make a transfer at low cost, with the time make greater use of transport and not the car. Cycle routes were built in the capital and other cities in the country to reduce CO2 carbon dioxide emissions In Chile there are several lines of research and technological development to reduce the impact of transport on climate change, such as fuel-efficient vehicles, increased use of public transport, the promotion of non-motorized transport and the study of the land use planning, and the research capacity of the universities translates into the development of models for the use of soil and operation of urban transport systems to simulate the actual conditions and assess the impact of new projects or public policies. Likewise, research centers there are other organizations that work on issues of sustainable development and climate change considering the impact of transport on the environment activities. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, we can be said that Chile is a country that counts good alternatives of transport, of the development of its infrastructure both terrestrial and maritime make that the country has an excellent point of view in its economy, and in the cities the studies innovators that are made that affect to the minimum the environment and at the same time it makes that the people acquire culture and conscience when using the transport either for recreational or tourist use, or, daily use.
