India is the best example of unity in diversity. Unity in diversity means oneness in the varieties.

“the beauty of the

world lies in the diversity of its people”. Diversity to me is beautiful and it strengthens our nation to learn about
other culture along with our own culture. India is very big country, it has 29 states and 7 union territories. Different
states have different languages but different religion people can live in any state of India because our India is an
independent and democratic country. People in India feel proud to be an Indian.

PEOPLES LIVING IN INDIA

In India people of different religions live together and they share their lifestyle, food, culture, festivals etc. There
are many religions like Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis. Every religions people follow
different culture and rituals during their festivals. There are different languages like Hindi, Marathi, Punjab,
Gujarati, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Oriya, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam and much more. Despite of so many
differences, people live together and there is one common thing that is humanity.

FESTIVALS OF INDIA
In India we celebrate so many festivals which belong to different caste, Hindu people celebrate festivals like
Makar Sankranti, Maha Shivratri, Vasant Panchami, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Lohri, Raksha Bandhan,
Janmashtami, Thaipusam, Navratri, Dashera, Diwali, Pongal, Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, Onam, karva

Christmas, Good Friday, Easter. Jain celebrates Mahavir Jayanti. Buddhist celebrate Buddha Purnima. These
festivals are celebrated by people in India and they share their culture with each other.

IMPORTANCE
Unity is very important for India. As we say “United we stand, divided we fall”. If there is a unity among peoples,
we are always ready to the face any problem. Terrorism is a big challenge for our nation, India got freedom from
Britishers when we were together to fight with them.
Today, our India face many problems like blasts, natural calamities like flood, earthquakes, etc. But people are
always there to help the victims, without knowing the caste and whether a person is known or unknown, that is
why the unity among us is very important it is a strength of a nation. United country is respected in the eyes of
others.

POLITICAL UNITY
Today, after 70 years of independence still there is a deep fault line of reservation of caste, inequitable economic
growth. The name “Bharatavarsha” was applied in the epics and Puranas. The term Bharata Varsha symbolizes
a fundamental unity. The concept of “ Chakravarty” and religious sacrifices like the “Aswamedha Yajna” only
religious support extended to the idea of political unification of the country.
Defying the monarchial, Mughal and colonial past, India today has established a republic with a federal structure
crowned with a parliamentary form of government. Elections to various state legislative assemblies always create
a political stare in the respective regions, but the general elections to the parliament have occasioned national
commotions and each contributing to the sense of political unity

RELIGIOUS AND SOCIAL UNITY

Religious unity in India can be shown from the places of worship scattered all over the country. Such religious
places of the Hindus are Badrinath Dham in the north, Dwarka in the west, Rameswaran in the south, and
Jagannath Puri in the east this shows the religious unity of this country.
Besides this pilgrimage places, there are many national monuments to which all Indians can visit these places
without any restrictions on religion and culture. In India people not only worship God, they worship rivers, trees,
Land, animals like cows, crows, etc.
There is a vast history of religious stories. Which is related to Hindus, India is a birth land of gods like ram and
Krishna. The Vedas are written on ram and Krishna like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Gita, Puranas in every
language of India. Equal respect is given by every religion in India. Hindus have the culture of bathing in the
rivers.
The Indian cultural tradition is unique. Basic cultural and social values and norms still continue with some
modifications. The values of dharma, karma, and jati continue to guide social and cultural activities to a large
extent.Indians have strongly believed in karma and dharma. It means that what we do is a karma and if we do the
good works it returns in a good way. And we should follow our dharma which is return in our Vedas.

EMOTIONAL UNITY
India also has an emotional unity. the name of our country India makes us feel proud and emotionally close,
whether we live in any part of the world. Many Indians stay outside India but they always feel touched by their
motherland India.
There is a diversity in India but we all will always be called Indians no matter which caste we follow and belong
to. When our flag is hosted on independence day, we feel proud by seeing our Indian flag in the air.
Unity starts from home, still today there are joint families, where the whole family live together in one house, eat
together.
As India is known for its unity in diversity in the same way Indian economy is also the unified blend of SO vs. WT.
India has weakness but it is space of thinking new ideas and perception, understand it as a space of
opportunities and transform into strength.
