PROGRAM SUMMARY REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS

M100TS interactively sets up the Project Control File and the M100TS creates the Project Control File (PCF) and Project
Project History File. It is run once for each project and must be History File. The program is normally run once for each project
the first program run. and must be run before any other MineSight® program. Certain
parameters are input to the program and stored in the PCF. These
PROGRAM FLOW DIAGRAM parameters should be decided upon prior to running the program:

Model (GSM)?

2. Are the units Metric or Imperial?

3. Are security passwords desired to access and/or alter the

PCF?

4. What do you want to name the PCF and History File?

INPUT: CALCS: Once the PCF is created with M100TS, the project spatial limits
and other parameters can be loaded into the file with M101V1.
- Interactive - Create Project Control

parameters
There are two types of passwords which can be placed on the
PCF. The first, the file creation password, restricts the ability to
create, alter or delete data files by controling access to any
program which modifies them. The second, the PCF access
password, limits the use of any MineSight® program to those

be supplied to run any subsequent program. Use passwords only
- Project History File when necessary. A forgotten password can cause delays and
possibly the loss of MineSight® Data Files.

HOW TO DEBUG AN M100TS RUN

1. Since M100TS is an interactive program, it is necessary to check for any typing errors as answers are entered. If an
incorrect or inappropriate answer is entered, stop the run, delete the PCF and History File (if they were created) and
begin again.

2. M100TS can only be run once for each PCF. If a second attempt is made (and the PCF has not been deleted since the
first run), or an illegal filename has been entered for the PCF, the following error message will be displayed and the
program will end.

? ** UNABLE TO OPEN PCF filename OR FILE ALREADY EXISTS **

If an illegal name is entered for the Project History File, a new name will be requested.

3. If a non-standard system name (i.e. other than METL, COAL, URAN) is entered, the program will respond with:

? REPLY IS NOT STD. SYSTEM: OK? (Y OR N):

The system name is any four character label, therefore if the four characters previously entered are desired, enter Y. If
you wish to enter another label, enter N.

4. If a non-standard answer (i.e., not <ENTER> for Imperial or M for metric) is entered as the type of measurements, the
message:

?? REPLY MUST BE ONE OF ABOVE

will be displayed and a standard answer can then be entered.

The same message will be displayed if a non-standard mine model type is entered (i.e. not 3-D or GSM). When
instructed, enter a standard model type.

5. Also check the MineSight® error messages in the Appendix.

PCF Item Variable Description

29 ZMIN Minimum Z (elevation) of the model

30 ZMAX Maximum Z (elevation) of the model
31 DZ Vertical height: Set PCF 31 = 1.0 for GSM
32 NZ Number of benches in the 3-D Block Model or number of seams in the GSM

50 ZMAX Crest of top bench

The command TOE -1 DZ is required to calculate the table of toe elevations in the PCF. DZ is the bench height. If you are not using
variable bench heights you should use the TOE command.

To specify variable benches in a 3D Block Model, use BENCH instructions:

BENCH# Elevation Description

BENCH1 elev. 1 Elevation of the top bench (in model coordinates)

BENCH2 elev. 2 Elevation of the 2nd bench (in model coordinates)
BENCH3 elev. 3 Elevation of the 3rd bench (in model coordinates)
. . .
. . .

If a 3D Block Model has the number of benches less than or equal to 400, you may use PCF items 50-450.

PCF Item Variable Description

51 elev. 1 Elevation of the top bench (in model coordinates)

52 elev. 2 Elevation of the 2nd bench (in model coordinates)
53 elev. 3 Elevation of the 3rd bench (in model coordinates)
. . .
. . .

If a GSM Mine Model was specified in M100TS, the seam names must be entered. Use SEAM instructions to enter seams:

SEAM# Label number Description

SEAM1 label n1 Name and seam number for topmost seam

SEAM2 label n2 Name and seam number for second seam
SEAM3 label n3 Name and seam number for third seam
. . .
. . .

For GSM projects with less than 200 seams you may use PCF items 51-250.

PCF Item Variable Description

51 label n1 Name and seam number for topmost seam

52 label n2 Name and seam number for second seam
53 label n3 Name and seam number for third seam
. . .
. . .

The seam name can be up to five characters in length and must begin with a letter (A-Z) or the # sign. The last four characters can
be either letters or numbers. The seam number is optional and will default to 1 for the first seam, 2 for the second, etc. The seam
number could be set to 10 for the first seam, 20 for the second, etc. This table of seam codes is used primarily by the M620 programs
to correlate the GSM model and the composite file for each seam.

M101V1-ADD, UPDATE OR LIST PROJECT DATA TABLE Proprietary Software: Mintec, inc.

HOW TO DEBUG AN M101V1 RUN

The first step in debugging this program is to check the input run file. Make sure that all file names are spelled correctly, the RUN
option line has the correct label, and the PCF parameter lines are in proper format and contain the correct values.

1. *** NO PROJECT HISTORY FILE NAME SPECIFIED ***

The Project History File name is not in the PCF table. The current PCF must be deleted and program M100TS must be
rerun. Be sure to enter a valid filename for the History File.

2. *** WRONG PCF SPECIFIED OR M100TS NOT RUN

PCF FILE TABLE = name INPUT = name

Either the PCF name was misspelled in the M101V1 run file, or M100TS was not run to create the PCF and History
Files. If M100TS was run for this PCF, correct the PCF name in the run file and rerun M101V1. If M100TS was not run
for this PCF, run it before attempting to run M101V1.

3. *** P.C.F. name PREVIOUSLY INITIALIZED

***ONCE INITIALIZED, ONLY UPDATES ALLOWED.

A RUN=NEW was attempted for a PCF which was previously initialized. If new PCF parameters are desired, change the
RUN=NEW line in the run file to RUN=OLD, and rerun M101V1.

4. ?M101V1: PCF HAS NOT BEEN INITIALIZED

A RUN=OLD was specified in an attempt to store initial PCF parameters. Change the RUN=OLD line in the run file to
RUN=NEW and rerun program M101V1.

5. *** INPUT ERROR ON PARAM CARD #iii IPOS=jjj

*** (ERRONEOUS LINE AS INPUT IN RUN FILE)

This message indicates that an error occurred while reading a PCF parameter line from the run file. III indicates the line
number after the end line where the error occurred. JJJ indicates the PCF parameter number on that line. Edit the run file
so that all PCF parameter lines are in proper input format and rerun M101V1.

6. *** INPUT ERRORS = iii

This line prints the number of errors (iii) that were detected in reading the run file.

7. XMAX= xxxxxxxx.x & XMIN + DX*NX= yyyyyyyy.y <— **

If this message appears, the number of columns multiplied by the column length does not equal the distance between the
east and west limits of the PCF area. Change the number of columns or the PCF easting limits so that the entire area is
covered by columns.

8. YMAX= xxxxxxxx.x & YMIN + DY*NX= yyyyyyyy.y <— **

If this message appears, the number of rows multiplied by the row length does not equal the distance between the north
and south limits of the PCF area. Change the number of rows or the PCF northing limits so that the entire area is covered
by rows.

9. Also check the MineSight® error messages in the Appendix.

MineSight®
Proprietary Software: Mintec, inc. M102TS - CREATION OF DATA FILE DESCRIPTORS

M102TS INTERACTIVE CREATION OF MINESIGHT®

DATA FILE DESCRIPTORS

PROGRAM SUMMARY REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS

M102TS interactively sets up the descriptors for MineSight® An ITEM is the smallest quantity of information that is
Data Files. These descriptors consist of the label, minimum and considered by MineSight®. Assays, geologic codes, and drillhole
maximum value, and precision for each item to be stored. footages are examples of items. Each item is either a numeric
value or a four—character alphanumeric string. Each numeric
PROGRAM FLOW DIAGRAM item is defined by a set of DESCRIPTORS. You must assign
these item descriptors for each project.
RUN FILE:
The descriptors are:
- Interactive keyboard entry
- Optional auxiliary file
1. Item Label - One to five alphanumeric characters used to
describe the item. The first character must be alphabetic.
The character “/” or any embedded blanks should not be
used in a label.

2. Min. Value - The minimum numeric value that the item

INPUT: CALCS: can have. Items usually will have a min. value of 0.0.
Coordinate items can have a positive or negative minimum
- PCF - Initialize MineSight® Data value. Values below the minimum value are treated as
- Descriptors for Files. Initialization “missing” values by most programs.
MineSight® data consists of defining what
items will be stored in
each Data File. 3. Max. Value - The maximum numeric value that the item
can have. If an input value (or calculated value) exceeds
this maximum, it is automatically reduced to the maxi-
mum. If the maximum value is entered as zero (0.0), an
entire computer word of storage is reserved for the item.
OUTPUT:

4. Precision - A numeric value whose magnitude specifies the

- Initialized Data Files least significant digit to be maintained for the item. If a
- Updated PCF
- Printer Output File grade is significant to 1/1000th of a percent, then precision
= 0.001. If precision is not explicitly specified, it is set to
1.0 by default.

5. Roundoff - An optional roundoff factor to be added to

each value to make sure that the number is properly
converted. If not specified, roundoff is automatically
calculated by M102TS as roundoff=precision *
0.49999999
Alphanumeric strings are used for items such as drillhole labels
and geologic codes. If you need more than four characters for a
string, you will have to define two or more items. They must be
defined as “label 0 0 - 1 0” for each four characters.
Alphanumeric items are restricted in use to plotting and listings
with certain programs.

Special types of items used by MineSight® are Protected Items

and Standard Items. Protected Items are predefined within

Revised: 30-May-01 Page 102-1

MineSight®
M102TS - CREATION OF DATA FILE DESCRIPTORS Proprietary Software: Mintec, inc.

MineSight® and are automatically included by M102TS. You

may not change them in any way. Standard Items are required
for particular MineSight® Data Files and are listed in the file
descriptors later in this section. Their attributes are defined by
the user.

Descriptors for all items to be stored in a given file must be

entered into the PCF in a single M102TS run, since space
requirements for each data unit are determined and stored along
with the descriptor information. If an error is discovered, the
entire M102TS run for the given file must be repeated. If you
have stored data in the file, it must be deleted before the
descriptors can be changed. Files 15, 14 and 13 must be deleted
before resetting their descriptors even if no data has been stored
in them.

In order to minimize disk storage, numeric data is “packed”

into portions of a “computer word” according to the size
specified by the descriptors. Packing and unpacking are
performed internally by the system. To improve this packing
efficiency, consult the 100-series Technical Section.

Input for M102TS is interactive. However, an auxiliary file of

items can be created prior to running the program. This auxiliary
file should contain the item label, the minimum value, the
maximum value, the precision and the optional roundoff for
each item to be initialized in the MineSight® Data File.

Examples of what may be desired items in a MineSight® Data

File are given in the descriptions for creating each file.

4. ENTER MAXIMUM INTERVAL LENGTH & PRECISION:

LENGTH & PRECISION = nnn nnn OK (Y OR N):

This specifies the maximum value and precision of the Standard Item -AI-. The default minimum is 0.0. M102TS then
requests you to enter descriptors for the other items of information to be stored in File 11.

NOTE: M200V1 should be run before initializing File 11. M200V1 will determine the maximum data limits for items.
These limits should be used as a guide to setting the File 11 item limits. If additional data is to be entered later, you may
allow for a larger range of data.

Limits

Survey File (File 12) Initialization

File 12 is used to store drillhole collar and downhole survey data. For the drillhole survey, File 12, there are fifteen Protected Items
(REF#, #INTS, etc.) and one optional Standard Item (AREA). The Protected Items are specified by the system whether an auxiliary
file is used or not.

If you are not using an auxiliary file, respond to the question:

DO YOU WANT THE SPECIAL BLASTHOLE ITEMS? (N OR Y)

File 12 is also used within the Blasthole System. Answer this question to determine the type of File 12 you will be using.

DO YOU WANT AN AREA OF INFLUENCE ITEM? (N OR Y)

You may enter other items into File 12, but there is generally no need to. Exceptions may be the drill date or a collar code for further
selection or plotting.

If you are using an auxiliary file and the area of influence item is desired, it must be specified in the auxiliary file. The maximum
value will always default to 0.0, indicating that the system will reserve a full computer word for it.

If you choose to include additional File 12 items (in addition to the 15 protected/standard items mentioned above), each item will be
stored in a full word and will not have set minimum and maximum values (regardless of the minimum and maximum you specify).

Composite Files (Files 8 & 9) Initialization

The unsorted composite file (File 9) should always be initialized before the sorted composite file (File 8). This is because the items
from File 8 must match one for one with the items from File 9. Initialization of File 8 will automatically refer to items stored for File
9. If File 9 does not exist on disk, the following question will appear:

TYPES OF COMPOSITES ARE: BENCH LEVEL SEAM ZONE

WHICH OF THESE IS APPROPRIATE?

BENCH and LEVEL refer to fixed interval composites and one of them would be specified for a 3-D mine model. The controlling
item for compositing is automatically set to ELEV. The label BENCH or LEVEL will appear in future runs of MineSight®.

SEAM and ZONE refer to seam composites and one of them would be specified for a GSM model. You must then respond to the
question:

ENTER THE ITEM THAT WILL BE USED TO CONTROL COMPOSITING

This item may be specified either in the auxiliary file or interactively. Normally this it would be SEAM. The label SEAM will then
appear in future runs of MineSight®.

If you are entering items interactively, you must respond to the following questions:

ARE THE PCF X,Y,Z LIMITS OK FOR COMPOSITES (Y OR N):

This question on PCF LIMITS is used to determine the appropriate minimum and maximum values for the composite coordinates
based on the XMIN, XMAX, YMIN, YMAX, ZMIN and ZMAX values stored in the PCF for this project. If composites will have
any coordinates outside the PCF ranges, then enter N to this question and enter the appropriate limits. Generally, east and north
coordinates will be sufficiently accurate with a precision of 1.0 (coordinates to the nearest foot in this example). The precision for
bench toe elevations can be the bench height when a single height is used for all benches. If any of the coordinates is not precise
enough, enter N to the question(s) and then enter the appropriate precision when prompted. This interactive input specifies the
minimum, maximum, precision and roundoff for the Standard Items EAST, NORTH, and ELEV.

2-D Surfaces (File 13) Initialization

File 13 is used to store non-repetitive, two-dimensional surfaces called grids. Two examples are unconsolidated overburden and
topsoil thickness where future calculation of stockpile and reclamation work may be desired.

Auxiliary File

For the 2-D Surface File, there is one Standard Item. If an auxiliary file is used, this Standard Item must be specified.

Mandatory Standard Item

TOPOG Elevation of topography

Other Items - 2-D Surface File

Bedrock elevation
Soil thickness

Interactive Input

If you enter the items interactively, you must respond to the question:

TOPOG MIN & MAX= xxx xxx OK (Y OR N):

TOPOG PRECISION= xxx xxx OK (Y OR N):

IS THE STANDARD ROUNDING FACTOR OK (Y OR N):

The TOPOG min and max are the elevation values from the PCF. You may change these values as well as the precision.

Mine Model (File 15) Initialization

There are two types of mine models that can be created: a 3-D Block Model and a GSM (Gridded Seam Model). A compressed model
format is also available with the File 15 initialization. Only specified blocks are stored. Values for unspecified blocks will always be
undefined. When initializing File 15 the program asks:

DO YOU WANT TO USE THE COMPRESSED MODEL FORMAT (N OR Y):

Reply N or Y as desired. If you choose the compressed mine model format, you must define the model limits using the following steps:

1. Digitize the ore envelope on sections and load the data to a VBM using M649V1.

2. Run M656V2 to calculate the blocks within the ore envelope.

3. Sort the output from M656V2 by the order of bench, row, and column.

4. Initialize File 15 using M601V2.

3-D Block Model

The 3-D Block Model (File 15) is used in preparation for mine design. This model consists of a three-dimensional grid of blocks with
all blocks usually having the same lateral dimensions, typically 50 to 200 feet or meters on a side. The vertical height of all blocks
on a given bench or level are the same, although other benches or levels may have different heights. The block height is usually
specified to conform to the proposed bench height in an open pit operation. The lateral block dimensions are often specified to be
compatible with standard map scales, but these lateral dimensions must adequately represent the grade distribution. Each 3-D block
is usually considered to contain only one type of material (i.e., ore or waste). The 3-D Block Model is used for large, disseminated
deposits such as base metals and uranium deposits.

There are no Protected or Standard Items in a 3-D Block Model; the items stored will depend on the project. However, it is advisable
to have a topography item to store the percent rock below surface.

Possible Items - 3-D Block Model

Seam elevation Elevation of seam top and bottom

Seam thickness
Analyses (BTU, Moisture, etc.)
Parting

Not all items are required for each seam. Parting may be non-zero for only one seam. Elevation of seam bottom is not used in reserve

GSM Summary File (File 14) Initialization

File 14 is used to store geologic reserves on a 2-D grid basis. For a GSM model, you have the option of using default items that are
produced by M102TS. However, there are no Standard or Protected Items. The default items are generated by responding to the
question:

DO YOU WANT THE default GSM ITEMS (Y OR N)

This will only appear when you have a GSM model. The default items are:

OVBDN Thickness of overburden and interburden for a single grid cell

TFEED Thickness of coal for a single grid cell
MINED Code denoting whether the coal is mineable determined by either physical or quality parameter constraints
ZPIT Bottom elevation of mineable coal for each grid cell
RATIO Stripping ratio for each grid cell RATIO = OVBDN/TFEED

VBM Files (File 25) Initialization

VBM files (Variable Block Model) are used to store point data. This point data is generally X, Y coordinate pairs, but MineSight®
also allows for storing 3-D point data (X, Y, Z coordinate triplets).

Point data may be digitized topography, digitized geology on plan or cross-section, generated or digitized pit designs, survey pickup
data, etc. The point data in a VBM is stored and accessed on the basis of a plane number and a feature code. The plane number is
normally a bench or section number. The feature code is used to identify what is being stored (topo, pit, geology, etc.). For more
discussion on VBM data, refer to the Technical Section in the VBM-series.

Auxiliary File

There are two mandatory Standard Items for regular VBM files and three mandatory Standard Items for 3-D VBM files.

Mandatory Standard Item for 2-D VBM

Y-PLN Y coordinate
X-PLN X coordinate

Mandatory Standard Items for 3-D VBM

Y-PLN Y coordinate
X-PLN X coordinate
Z-PLN Z coordinate

If using an auxiliary file, these Standard Items must be specified.

Normally, a coordinate pair will be packed into one word of storage. However, if the ((MAX - MIN)/PREC) for X and ((MAX - MIN/
PREC) for Y exceeds the number of bits in a word, two words of storage will be used. See the Technical Section for more details
on bits, words and storage.

Interactive Input
1. ENTER 1 if plane is “W—>E”
2 if plane is “S—>N”
OR 3 if plane is “PLAN”

You must select a default Orientation for your VBM (see VBM technical section). Use M102V1 to define a non-
orthogonal orientation.

ENTER the default Orientation starting plane number:

Choose the first plane in your VBM.

The program will then echo the X, Y or Z coordinate limits from the PCF. You have the option of changing the
coordinates as well as the precision and roundoff. Frequently, the VBM limits will be larger than the PCF limits.

For “W-E” planes, the Y-PLN item is elevation and the X-PLN item is easting.
For “S-N” planes, the Y-PLN item is elevation and the X-PLN items is northing.
For “PLAN” planes, the Y-PLN item is northing and the X-PLN item is easting.
For “3DVBM” planes, the Y-PLN item is northing, the X-PLN item is easting and the Z-PLN item is elevation.

2. ALTHOUGH PLANE NUMBERS ARE STORED AS INTEGER VALUES, FRACTIONAL VALUES ARE
ALLOWED BASED ON PRECISION LIKE OTHER FILE “ITEMS”. THE default PRECISION IS 1.0.

ENTER THE PRECISION: (1.0, 0.1, 0.01, OR 0.001):

This option allows you to use real plane numbers in a VBM, even though VBM plane numbers are internally stored as
integers. A precision of 0.1 would allow storing plane numbers with one decimal place. A precision of 0.01 would allow
storing plane numbers with two decimal places, etc.

HOW TO DEBUG AN M102TS RUN

1. The following rules must be met for item descriptors:

• The first character of the label must be alphabetic.

• The minimum value cannot be greater than the maximum value. The only exception is if the maximum is 0.0
which indicates that a full computer word is to be reserved for the item.

2. Make sure that all required Standard Items are included. You will be warned if you forget to define a Standard Item, such
as REF#.

3. Do not redefine a MineSight® Data File if you have stored data in it UNLESS you delete the file from the disk.

4. The order of items in the auxiliary file or in the interactive run will determine how efficiently the data will be stored.
MineSight® will attempt to optimize the order of the items, but it may be possible to do better by manual re-ordering.
Consult the Technical Section for a description of file space optimizing.

5. Avoid using MineSight® keywords for item labels, such as ASSAY, CODE, GRADE, RANGE, OMIT or TABLE.

6. INVALID REFERENCE xx

will appear if the file reference number is not a standard MineSight® number or if you try to initialize the PCF or Project
History File.

7. READ ERROR FROM FILE - INPUT LINE IGNORED

will appear if an invalid line appears in an auxiliary file.

8. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF 1000 MODEL COLUMNS HAS BEEN EXCEEDED

will appear if the number of easterly blocks in a model exceeds 1000.

9. You have specified 1000 columns with 5 words required to store data for one block. This requires a record length
of 5000 which exceeds the allowable length of 4000. You MUST restructure file 15 before proceeding!

You must either have fewer columns in your model or use fewer words to store data for one block.

10. ?INVALID ITEM LABEL

will appear if the specified label does not start with an alpha character.

11. ERROR - #DECIMALS = x MAX ALLOWED = 3

will appear if you specify the VBM precision as greater than 0.001.

12. Also check the MineSight® error messages in the Appendix.

NOTE: Default plane orientation is applied to all planes in the VBM for which no individually-specified
orientation has been supplied (see the VBM Technical Section). For non-orthogonal orientation, the origin
coordinates along with the azimuth and dip are entered using PAR27-PAR31.

IOP26 = 0 ONLY DIN ANGLES (PAR30 AND PAR31) ARE TAKEN FROM THE RUN FILE
PLANE azimuth and dip are computed according to the conversion table from the VBM technical section
= 1 ONLY default PLANE ANGLES ARE READ FROM THE RUN FILE
DIN angles are computed assuming that DIN is orthogonal to the plane and X-pln, Y-pln and
DIN make right-handed orientation of the space
= -1 SIMILAR TO IOP26=1 BUT THE ORIENTATION WILL BE LEFT-HANDED
= 2 BOTH PAIRS OF ANGLES (PAR30, PAR31, PAR33, PAR34) ARE TAKEN FROM THE RUN FILE
(used if IOP25=4)

ITMnn = AUXILIARY FILENAME FOR MineSight® DATA FILE nn

NOTE: nn is one of the MineSight® file reference numbers (11, 12, 13, 8, 9, 14, 15, 25)

PAR25 = PRECISION FOR VBM PLANE NUMBER (default =1)

NOTE: Use PAR25 if the VBM will have Non-integer plane numbers.

PAR26 = STARTING PLANE FOR VBM ORIENTATION

NOTE: PAR26 is required, but zero is a valid value.

PAR27 = X-ORIGIN FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL DEFAULT ORIENTATION

PAR28 = Y-ORIGIN FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL DEFAULT ORIENTATION
PAR29 = Z-ORIGIN FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL DEFAULT ORIENTATION
PAR30 = DIN AZIMUTH FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL DEFAULT ORIENTATION
PAR31 = DIN DIP FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL DEFAULT ORIENTATION

PAR32 = PLANE NUMBER MULTIPLIER FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL DEFAULT ORIENTATION (default =1)

PAR33 = PLANE AZIMUTH FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL DEFAULT ORIENTATION

PAR34 = PLANE DIP FOR NON-ORTHOGONAL default ORIENTATION

NOTE: PARs 27-34 are required for non-orthogonal default orientation (IOP25=4). Otherwise they are unused.
Zero is a legitimate value for PARs27 thru 31 and 33, 34).

The Plane Number Multiplier (PAR32) is used to convert a plane number to the distance the plane is located
away from the default origin.

See the VBM Technical Section.

PAR35 = EASTING NORMALIZATION CONSTANT FOR A SURVEY FILE

PAR36 = NORTHING NORMALIZATION CONSTANT FOR A SURVEY FILE
PAR37 = ELEVATION NORMALIZATION CONSTANT FOR A SURVEY FILE

HOW TO DEBUG AN M102V1 RUN

1. A MineSight® Data file name must be specified on the Names Line. If not, it will not be created. The ITMn reference is
not enough to create the file.

2. File 9 must be specified (or have been previously created) in order for a File 8 to be created. Do not specify an auxiliary
file for File 8.

3. An auxiliary file need not be specified for File 12 since MineSight® default Protected Items will be created. However, if
you want “AREA” of other items in File 12, use an auxiliary file containing the additional items.

4. BYPASSING FILE name

NO INPUT FILE WAS FOUND

will appear if you identify an auxiliary file on an ITM line, but the file doesn’t exist.

5. ?M102V1: FILE ALREADY EXISTS.

DELETE IT OR USE M102TS

will appear if a file is specified on the NAMES LINE and IOP1=0, but it already exists.

6. ?M102V1: INPUT FILE name NOT FOUND

will appear if an auxiliary file was not identified on an ITM line.

7. You have specified 1000 columns with 5 words required to store data for one block. This requires a record length
of 5000 which exceeds the allowable length of 4000. You MUST restructure file 15 before proceeding!

You must either have fewer columns in your model or use fewer words to store data for one block.

8. See M102TS debug section for other errors. Also check the MineSight® error messages in the Appendix.

MineSight®
M104TS-INTERACTIVE LIST & EDIT OF THE PCF FILE TABLE Proprietary Software: Mintec, inc.

EDIT
This option allows you to update file attributes for MineSight® Data Files that are stored in the PCF file table. The only attribute
you are able to change is the number of data units for the file (or the number of words in B—file for DIPPER files). You are not
allowed to edit the PCF itself or the history file.

For example, you may want to run one project on two different directories. One directory may be for drillhole statistics and
compositing while the other may be for model interpolation and reserves. Each directory would have its own PCF. The composite
file would be common to both. Rather than running the composite routine in both directories, you could:

• Use LIST to check the number of data units for the composite file in the first directory’s PCF.

• Initialize the composite file in the second directory (with M102TS).

• Copy the composite file over from the first directory.

• Use EDIT to change number of data units for the composite file in the second directory’s PCF to match that in the first
directory’s PCF.

For example, if you wanted to change the number of data units in SAMP12.DAT from 0 to 48 you would select EDIT and do the
following:

ENTER FILENAME TO EDIT : SAMP12.DAT

4. PROJECT FILE SAMP12.DAT IS REF# 12

RECORD LENGTH IN WORDS= 638
# WORDS / DATA UNIT = 14
# ITEMS / DATA UNIT = 16
# DATA UNITS =0

ENTER THE NEW NUMBER OF DATA UNITS: 48

RECORD LENGTH IN WORDS= 638

# WORDS / DATA UNIT = 14
# ITEMS / DATA UNIT = 16
# DATA UNITS = 48

ARE THESE DESCRIPTORS OK? (Y OR N): Y

MineSight®
Proprietary Software: Mintec, inc. M104TS-INTERACTIVE LIST & EDIT OF THE PCF FILE TABLE

TABLE

This option produces a list of file names in the PCF file table, along with an internal reference number, number of data units,
number of items, and record length in words. For example:

Table File Name REF # # Data # Items Record Length

Units in Words

1 SAMPHS.DAT 1
2 SAMP10.DAT 10

13 SAMP12.COP 12 36 16 638
14 —DIPPER—#1 20 1 2 5606

NAMES
This option allows you to change the name of a MineSight® Data File. Answer the question:

ENTER FILENAME to change, “FILES” to list files, or <CR>to exit:

If you enter FILES, a list of the files in the PCF along with their REF# will list to the screen. If you enter a filename, for example
SAMP25.TOP, you will be prompted to enter a new filename and the change will be verified.

File SAMP25.TOP is REF#25.

Enter new filename for SAMP25.TOP: SAMP25.OLD

File SAMP25.TOP has been changed to SAMP25.OLD.

If you enter a <CR> when prompted for a new filename, no change will be made. If you want to “BLANK” out a filename, enter
the word “BLANK” when prompted for a new filename. If you have a filename that is BLANK and you want to name it, enter
the word “BLANK” when prompted for a filename to change. You will then be told the REF# for the first BLANK filename so
you can choose the name accordingly.

When you are through editing in NAMES, use FILES to verify your changes are correct before exiting. The changes should also
be reflected in LIST and TABLE immediately.

NOTE: — Always back up your PCF before editing of any kind! Changes to the PCF are extremely important and errors can
cause much inconvenience or even irreversible damage. Simply copy SAMP10.DAT to SAMP10.BAK, for example, before
running M104TS.

Revised: 31-May-01 Page 104-7

MineSight®
M104TS-INTERACTIVE LIST & EDIT OF THE PCF FILE TABLE Proprietary Software: Mintec, inc.

IDENT
This option allows you to modify the project identification line. This identification line is printed at the top of each page of
printer output and is originally set in program M101V1. Answer the question:

ENTER NEW IDENT:

A <CR> will cause no change of the identification line to be stored in the PCF. Type the word BLANK to store a blank line in
the PCF.

ACCT
This option allows you to access a MineSight® Data File on another directory.

You must meet these requirements:

• The PCF and History File must reside on the directory from which you are running ACCT.

• The requested file must be included in the PCF file table.

• You must have read/write access to the new directory.

On the PC, before running this program, use the SUBST d: pathname command to set up a logical drive, where “d” is some
logical drive not already used and “pathname” is the actual path to the alternate drive. Example: SUBST K: C:\TEMP. If ACCT
is frequently used, the SUBST command can be included in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

The ACCT specification is unique for each machine type supported for MineSight® so some of the questions below may be
worded differently on your system.

After selecting ACCT answer Y to this question to begin the ACCT function:

ACCESS FILE ON ANOTHER DIRECTORY? (Y OR N):

ENTER LOGICAL ASSIGNMENT OR PATH FOR DIRECTORY: K:

The logical assignment is the directory path or account you wish to access, for example, K: or C:\TEMP If a logical drive is
used, it must be an upper case letter and must include the colon.

ENTER FILENAME TO ACCESS: SAMP25.TOP

Specify each file you want to access in the other directory, for example, SAMP25.TOP. You must also verify the change:

CHANGE LOGICAL NAME? (Y OR N): Y

This will remap the file from the alternate directory. Use the LIST function to verify that remapping has occurred.

To nullify remapping and set to original status, enter a space in answer to the question “Enter Logical Assignment or Path for
directory:” and answer other questions as above.

HELP
The HELP option will give a brief summary of each command.

The commands available to Manage MineSight® Files are:

———————————————————————————
LIST : Types PCF file names with file info.
EDIT : Edits # of data units for selected file.
TABLE : Types a table of PCF file names and info.
NAMES : Changes a PCF file name.
IDENT : Changes the project identification line.

EXIT : Exits the program
———————————————————————————
Note: 2 character abbreviations are OK.

EXIT
Type EXIT to quit M104TS and return to the operating system prompt.

HOW TO DEBUG AN M104TS RUN

Be cautious using these two items:

1. EDIT

Entering incorrect data when changing the number of data units with the EDIT option would make part or all of a
MineSight® Data File unusable. This should only be changed for very specific reasons.

2. ACCT

If you change the directory from which a MineSight® Data File is to be accessed, you must have write access to this
new directory. If you don’t, certain MineSight® routines will fail because they will not be able to update the file.

3. Also check the MineSight® error messages in the Appendix.

M110V1 TRANSFER DATA BETWEEN PERMANENT FILES

PROGRAM SUMMARY REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS

M110V1 transfers data from an existing permanent file to a new • The files must be the same type, e.g., both File 11’s
file with the same or different number of items.
• There must be sufficient disk space to contain the new file.
PROGRAM FLOW DIAGRAM
• Files that are applicable to M110V1:
The PCF must be initialized with M100TS before running
M110V1. 9 Composite files
11 Drillhole assay files
RUN FILE: 12 Drillhole survey files
13 2-D topo / surface files
- File nn = Existing data file 14 GSM summary files
- File 19 = New data file
15 GSM / 3-D mine models

The steps below must be followed to maintain compatibility

with existing run files and menus.(nn represents the file number):

1. Rename the existing MineSight® data file and change

the file name in the PCF table with M104TS, e.g.,
INPUT: CALCS: SAMPnn.DAT to SAMPnn.OLD.
- PCF - Read PCF descriptors for
- Existing data file ## MineSight® files 2. Edit the auxiliary file containing the item descriptors
- Input data from existing with your system editor. The file will usually be named
File nn DAT102.Inn. If no auxiliary file exists, go on to step 3.
- Reformat data
- Output to new data file
3. Create the data file item descriptors by running
M102TS or M102V1. This will update the PCF with the
new file name and descriptors. Use M102TS to enter the
items interactively if you have no auxiliary file.
OUTPUT:
4. Initialize the mine model files (for Files 13, 14, 15
- Updated PCF only). Run M601V2 if you wish the new file to be
- New data file
- Printer Output file
compressed. Then run M601V1 to initialize the model.

5. Make a backup diskette or tape of SAMPnn.OLD.

6. Transfer the data with M110V1.

7. List / summarize both files and check carefully using

these programs:
File 9 M503V1, M402V1
Files 11 and 12 M203V1, M204V1, M401V1
Files 13, 14, 15 M603V1, M608V1.

10 = the name of the PROJECT CONTROL FILE
nn = the name of the EXISTING file
19 = the name of the NEW file
3 = the name of the PRINTER OUTPUT FILE

2. RUN INFORMATION LINE (max. of 80 columns)

A single line of text that will be printed at the top of each page of printer output from the run.

3. RUN OPTIONS (in any order & free-field format)

USR = USER INITIALS (e.g. ABC)

IOP’s 3-6 apply to mine model files only (13, 14, 15)

IOP3 = 0 ZERO all items of a record before transferring selected item values (default)
= 1 OVERWRITE corresponding items in a record when transferring selected items

NOTE: If you choose to ZERO, the records which have data being transferred to them will have all the item values
zeroed before the data is transferred. If you choose to OVERWRITE, corresponding items in records with
data being transferred will be overwritten; other items will be unaffected. In both cases, records which do
not have data being transferred to them will be unaffected.

If you are transferring data from a either a standard or a compressed model to a compressed model, only
transferred items will be overwritten, regardless of the IOP3 setting. In this case, IOP3 will behave as if it
is equal to 1.

If you are using files 9, 11 or 12, records will be zeroed regardless of the IOP3 setting.

IOP4 = OPTIONAL FIRST BENCH TO BE INPUT (default=1)

IOP5 = OPTIONAL LAST BENCH TO BE INPUT (default=1 for Files 13 and 14; default=NZ for File 15)

IOP6 = OPTIONAL FIRST BENCH TO BE OUTPUT (default=IOP4)

NOTE: For example, if IOP4=1, IOP5=10, and IOP6=22 then values for benches 1 through 10 in the existing file
will be transferred to benches 22 through 31 in the new file.

The following options apply to ALL files

IOP7 = 0 TRANSFER ONLY SELECTED ITEMS (default)

= 1 TRANSFER ALL ITEMS WITH AN IDENTICAL LABEL

NOTE: When using IOP7=1, the items in the target file must have the same label name and must have been
initialized with the same minimum, maximum and precision as the item in the source file.

IOP12 = 0 TRANSFER DATA (default)

= 1 FOR A DEBUG RUN. NO DATA WILL BE TRANSFERRED

GETnn = label1, label2, . . . labeln

PUTnn = label1, label2, . . . labeln

NOTE: The values of the items in the GETnn line will be transferred to the corresponding items in the PUTnn line.
nn is the file reference number, e.g., 15 for METL15.DAT.
Values below the minimum or above the maximum
If a value is below the new item’s minimum, the item gets set to “Missing”.
If a value is above the new item’s maximum, it will be clipped at the largest number that can be stored in
the allotted space.
When using IOP7=1, GET & PUT lines are not used.

DETERMINATION OF EFFICIENT DATA PACKING

The basis for both the storage and calculations performed within 4. Extra space in any word can be given a label for use as
any program is the computer “word”. This “word” is comprised needed later on in the project.
of bits. For PC, Sun and VAX computers, each word contains
32 bits. #bits Max. Integer Value
= (2 ** #bits) -- 3
Each bit can store either 0 or 1. Therefore, the computer must
convert all data to binary form before storing it. You can 2 1
determine the order in which the computer stores the data for 3 5
more efficient use of its storage space. The general procedure 4 13
to follow is: 5 29
6 61
1. List all items to be included in the Data File and define the 7 125
minimum and maximum values for each. 8 253
9 509
2. Determine the number of bits each item requires for storage. 10 1,021
This is done by first determining the Maximum Integer Value 11 2,045
for the item. The formula is: 12 4,093
13 8,189
Integer Value = (Max. value – Min. value) / Precision 14 16,381
15 32,765
For example, the item Cu is to be entered into a file. It has
16 65,533
a maximum value of 2.50 and a minimum value of 0.0. The
17 131,069
precision is 0.01. The maximum integer value = (2.50 –
18 262,141
0.00) / 0.01 = 250.
19 524,285
20 1,048,573
Next use the following table to determine the number of
bits required to store the maximum integer value. In the
Units of Measurement
example above, the integer value of 250 requires 8 bits of
storage.
The units of measurement for your project are set in program
M100TS or M101V1. Most projects use either Imperial units
3. After determining the maximum integer value for each item,
(feet, tonnage factor, etc.) or Metric units (meters, specific
order the items to maximize storage.
gravity, etc.)

• Word #1 has 32–1 bits available, with the first bit (the Some projects use Metric units everywhere except on their
leftmost bit) reserved for system use. Group together plotter. For these sites MineSight® provides a “Pseudo--metric”
items whose total number of bits comes close to but system of units. All programs and procedures will reference
does not exceed 31. metric units except plotting programs and procedures which
will reference Imperial units.
• Word #2 and other words have all 32 bits for use.
Group the next items as close to 32 bits as possible.

• An item must be contained within a single word; it

cannot cross a word boundary. For items of 9 bits each,
the first three could go in one word (27 bits total) but
the fourth would require a new word of storage.

• When running M102TS, specify the items in the order

you have determined.
