CLASE 4
OBJETIVOS:
Un noun (sustantivo) es un objeto, una idea, una persona, un animal, o un lugar fijo. A
diferenciEjemplos de sustantivos en inglés incluyen:
La pluralización en inglés
Como en español, los sustantivos en inglés pueden pluralizarse. Pero a
diferencia del español, en inglés solo los sustantivos se pluralizan. Es decir
que en inglés los adjetivos no concuerdan con los sustantivos como en
español. Mira los ejemplos siguientes y presta atención a los adjetivos:
Sustantivo Sustantivo
Significado Significado
singular plural
shirt shirts
camisa camisas
woman women
mujer mujeres
smartwoman smartwomen
mujer inteligente mujeres inteligentes
El género en inglés
Los sustantivos en español tienen un género gramatical (masculino o femenino). Este género
es importante porque afecta gramaticalmente a otras palabras en la oración (p.ej.: la bolsa
roja y no el bolsa rojo). En inglés, no existe el género gramatical. Quiere decir que el sexo de la
palabra no afecta ninguna otra palabra en la oración (p.ej.: the tall woman o the tall man ).
Los sustantivos que acaban en consonante + y devienen consonante + ies: party – parties;
baby – babies
Importante: los sustantivos que acaban en vocal + y no sufren ningún cambio: day – days; boy-
boys
Los sustantivos que acaban en – sh, -ch, -s, -x o -z añaden la terminación “-es”: church-
churches; brush – brushes; box – boxes; buzz-buzzes
Los sustantivos que acaban en – o tienen una forma de plural regular, con la marca “s”: photo
– photos, piano- pianos.
2. El plural irregular:
El plural en -ves
Algunos sustantivos acabados en -f(e) convierten la -f en una -v y añaden la marca “-es”: half –
halves; knife – knives; leaf – leaves; life – lives; shelf – shelves; thief – thieves; wife – wives;
wolf – wolves.
Importante: existen otros sustantivos acabados en -f(e) que tienen un plural regular: cliff -
cliffs.
Los sustantivos irregulares
child – children; foot – feet; goose – geese; man – men; mouse – mice; ox – oxen; person –
people; tooth – teeth; woman – women, etc.

Clase 6
Contenidos: Tiempo verbal Presente Simple .Verbo “To be”. Verbo “can”.
Pronombres. Adjetivos. Sustantivos. Vocabulario.
Objetivos:
Presente simple
El presente simple es un tiempo verbal del presente que se utiliza para hablar acerca
de hechos o verdades generales que constituyen hábitos, horarios o programas,
costumbres y rutinas de la vida cotidiana.
Para conjugar el presente simple usamos el infinitivo para los sujetos “I”, “you”, “we” y
“they” y para las terceras personas “he”, “she” y “it”, añadimos una “-s” al final del
verbo.
Sujeto Conjugación
Nota: Hay excepciones de ortografía en la tercera persona, según la letra en que termina el
verbo. Las reglas son las mismas que se utilizan para formar el plural de los sustantivos.
Structure (Estructura)
Sujeto + verbo.
Ejemplos:
I talk.(Yo hablo.)
He eats.(Él come.)
I point. Yo señalo.
He points. Él señala.
Ejemplos:
Nota: En frases negativas, el verbo auxiliar (“to do”) cambia y el verbo principal va en el
infinitivo.
Ejemplos:
Uses (Usos)
1. El presente simple se utiliza para hablar de cosas que suceden habitualmente. A diferencia
con el español, no se usa el presente simple para hablar sobre algo que está pasando en el
momento en el que hablamos.
always (siempre), every day (cada día), usually (normalmente), often (a menudo),
sometimes (a veces), rarely (raramente), hardly ever (casi nunca), never (nunca)…
Ejemplos:
Excepción:
Los adverbios de tiempo van delante del verbo, excepto el verbo “to be” (ser/estar). Cuando se
usa “to be” el verbo va delante del adverbio.
