In this era, almost everyone has used a smartphone.

smartphone and of course many supporting applications for its users. One of them is an
application for chat where we can easily send messages to anyone at that time. Instant messaging
applications that are most commonly used are Line and Whatsapp.

Line is an application from Line Corporation where it has received a rating of 4.1 on a
scale of 5 on the Google Play Store and 3.5 on a scale of 5 on the Appstore. Line comes with a
sign up and login which is quite easy where to use the id line or email or can also use Facebook
help. For the chat feature of this application, it does not display the user is typing or not. This
application also does not display when the user was last active and whether the user was online.
This application can sending media files in the form of images or documents with a maximum
file size of 300MB. If you get a video or photo from someone, you must save it first if you want
the photo or video to be saved in your smartphone gallery but not for documents, when you have
downloaded it will automatically be saved on the smartphone. For the group chat feature, Line is
able to create groups with a large number of members up to 500 people. When you are bored
with the Line display on your smartphone, the theme can also be replaced by downloading a
theme in Line Store, while for the theme there are free and some paid.

Whereas WhatsApp is an application from WhatsApp Inc. where it has a higher rating of
4.3 from a scale of 5 on google playstore and 4.7 from a scale of 5 on the Appstore. Unlike Line,
WhatsApp comes with signing up and logging in using a telephone number. This might be easy
enough but the phone number also must be active so that if at any time WhatsApp is logged out
then it can log in again because every time you log in there is always a verification of the phone
number. The advantage of this application compared to Line is this application will display the
user is typing. In contrast with Line, this application will also display when the user was last
active and whether the user was online. The maximum file size is smaller than the line which is
100MB for Android and 128MB for iOS. WhatsApp to be different from Line in the problem of
media storage because when you have downloaded all types of media both photos or documents
it will automatically be saved on the smartphone. For the group chat feature, WhatsApp is only
able to create groups with up to 256 members and also WhatsApp can not change the look of the
theme of the application itself which for both things is may not be better than the Line.

In conclusion, each application has advantages and disadvantages and for which one is
better it is only the opinion of each individual. Just use the application as needed.
