Philosophy of Education

The journey for this career has been a whirlwind of adventures to end up back at what I

wanted to be when I was five. As a student, I loved to learn. I was nervous as a kindergarten but

once I fell into the habit I was hooked. Teachers became my role models. The great teachers

that were passionate stuck in my memory as well as the not so passionate ones. This inspired

me to continue my education through college but I chose a different direction. I did not realize

that I wanted to keep getting my education due to the teachers. I had a year to reflect and

realized my goal to become a teacher.

Teachers can inspire kids everyday to do their best and keep learning. This is what I

want to be as a teacher and why I am choosing this path for myself. I have met wonderful

teachers throughout school. They have inspired me to stay in school. Their passion to teach and

show their students why they are passionate was captivating. I wanted to create that experience

for other students. In order to be the teacher I envision myself, I had to go through trial and

errors with college to realize that this was the path for me. I was able to learn and grow up to

feel confident to pursue this. Clark County deserves strong teachers to represent the city and

create a future for the city. Las Vegas is blooming everyday with new sport teams, casinos, and

conventions. The district needs teachers that are able to keep the community inspired.
A teacher’s personal teaching philosophy should be established in the teacher’s mind

while on studying to become a teacher. My teaching philosophy will be molded by my

classroom. This will be inspired by constructivism. The focus will be on how the students learn

and how to understand the best way to connect them with the lessons. Throughout the history of

education it is important to keep the classroom a safe place for student’s ideas. Each child

should have an opportunity for free education and feel comfortable with asking questions.

Teachers should use multiple strategies to create a successful classroom. Differentiated

instruction allows the teacher to do just that. This helps the student and the teacher to learn with

different activities for students with different backgrounds. Classrooms are not all equal and the

teacher should be ready for most outcomes. These strategies will help the growth of becoming a

teacher to keep learning along with the students. To enable the students to learn, the

differentiated instruction will involve projects and cooperative learning for students of all learning

styles.

Teachers should want to keep an active mind and heart for this career. To be

surrounded by individuals relying on the teacher for hours a day can be an overwhelming

experience. This is what excites and motivates myself to become a teacher. There are multiple

steps and processes to achieve this career. The first step should be understanding the time it

takes to be a teacher. The steps that follow involve school, observations, state certifications,

Praxis series, standards, and constantly staying up to date with education practices. There are

another ways to stay a strong teacher. Teachers can join groups where another teachers are

involved. Teachers should remember that they are human and it is okay to mess up. This is a

career with multiple responsibilities. Teachers can make mistakes but it is about how they

recover that matters. Students are there to learn and explore. Teachers can be there to help

students and themselves to keep learning.
