The Effect of Trash at the Sea

Millions of trash are dumped into the sea every day. Massive amount of trash are moving
along the world’s coast lines and seas. Each country in the world is responsible of this litter
problem. The trash, mostly plastic, are floating around creating many environmental problems.
The accumulated debris on beaches and shoreline can have serious economic impact, especially
on tourism and fishery sector.
Trash disturbs human’s life. It can affect people economically. One example, garbage in
the sea can cause great loss in tourism. A lot of surfers and divers are discouraged to visit some
beaches to do their activity because of the garbage. It is also hard for tourists to find clean beach
to relax. In addition, divers also complain about the trash situation under the sea which lessen its
beauty. All of the trash will drive people away from beach and sea tourism sites.
Therefore, if we are ignoring the litters in the sea, it will trigger a lot of unemployment.
The numbers of tourist will decrease since they’re not interested anymore to visit dirty beaches
and oceans. Thus, it increases the poverty since lots of people are working in tourism sectors
might lose their jobs.
Moreover, the damage causes by trash can also affect fishery. Seaweed and corals are the
most affected. Seaweed are polluted by garbage. The effect is the seaweed will be endangered.
Corals, home for many marine wild life, are dead due to pollution. Thus, no more sea animals will
be living in coral anymore. This will cause imbalance to the sea food-chain. Furthermore, some
fish think that the garbage is their food, so they eat the trash. Many of them die because they
eat the garbage that containing chemicals. Fish that have been contaminated with plastic waste
will be dangerous to be consumed by human.
In conclusion, throwing garbage into the sea can cause great danger and losses, in
economic, health, and ecosystem. And even affect human’s life. The depleting visitor’s interest
to visit tourism sites can lead to poverty. The garbage threats wild life, disrupting the natural food
chain. The pollution increase health risk to the fish we consume. It is mandatory for us to start
cleaning our seas. We have to stop disposing trash into the sea. We need to start reduce, reuse,
and recycle our garbage so they will not end up in our oceans.
